I really cant understand some of this negative comments. Maybe I have more tolerance and empathy for this type of experiences because I've been in the food and beverage/hospitality industry for a long time and know how it works and all it takes to make it as enjoyable as possible for everyone, knowing that there's no way to please everyone 100%. So I hope this review is helpful to those willing to try this amazing NEW Spot.
I have visited eet 3 times now and I have never been disappointed. I'm an extremely picky person when it comes to food and had never tried Indian anything before this place and everything I've tried so far here has been excellent.
Is this authentic, out of the streets of India, Indian Food? No, but is not meant to be, as it is a Modern Indian Fusion cuisine quick service restaurant. So if you're expecting that kind of authenticity either don't go or change your expectations and give them a chance for what they really are.
The prices are fair for the amount of food you get, everything is pretty much a sharable size and lets be real, you're in Disney Springs, nothing will be cheap but this place is worth the money for the portions, good food and service you get. My favorites so far are the Bread Service, The Tikka Pizza, The Chefs special for the month now in February, The cheesecake, The Mango Lassi, The samosas, and the chicken Tikka bowl. There's many more things I haven't tried yet but I'm sure ill still like them when I do.
I see complains about the tips been asked for up front when you order and pay for your food. I don't see the problem with this as many places do it like this anyways, and besides you're not obligated to leave it up front. if you have cash you can tip after you're done. But don't be THAT person and DO Tip because The servers (most of them because no restaurant has a perfect array of servers) are very attentive and will make your time there enjoyable. This last time We had LEXI as our server and she was amazing, very attentive and funny, she brought us everything we forgot to grab on our own (utensils, napkins etc) plus gave us refills to our drinks many times, and to go boxes once we were ready to leave.
I've also seen some complaints about the vegetarian or vegan options not been larger which surprises me because they are not claiming to be a vegetarian nor vegan restaurant and I believe they have plenty of options already, maybe even more than other places around in Disney Springs so to be criticized for that seems a bit unfair. If you want more Vegetarian or vegan options then go to a full Vegetarian or Vegan restaurant.
Overall I believe this place is worth giving it a try on more than one occasion so you can try more than one choice of food. Of course this wont be everyone's cup of tea, no restaurant ever is but if you want to try something different but good,...
Read moreI heard through word of mouth that this place wasn’t great but I decided why the heck not let’s give it a chance and boy was I blown away by how awful the food was.
I’ll start off by saying the staff was absolutely amazing. Extremely kind, attentive, and caring, everything someone would want in ideal staff. The decor was fabulous! A perfect blend of traditional Indian decorating techniques and patterns with modern western designs which is complementary with the cuisine that I suppose is trying to be conveyed here.
Now onto the food. If you couldn’t tell by my name, I’m Indian. I went into this place not expecting traditional Indian cuisine as it is marketed as a fusion restaurant. We ordered the Samosa, DIY Pani Puri, and Masala Fries.
Samosa - Your average samosa, came out piping hot. A little bit hard on the outside but nothing out of the ordinary. This gave me false hope that the rest of the meal would be of the same quality. (On a side note, a great idea for a fusion samosa dish would be pizza samosa! There’s a very wide variety of Samosas to try at Patel Brothers on OBT).
Masala Fries - Although I’m aware this isn’t catered to the Indian palette, it was still a little disappointing. I wish there was more dimension to the flavour. Honestly the ketchup had more of a unique taste than the fries. But nonetheless still alright. I’d recommend maybe making them a little spicy. A small amount of red chili powder can go a long way.
DIY Pani Puri - How such a simple and classic Indian street food could go so wrong I’ll never know. Honestly it should’ve been on the dessert menu with how sweet it was. I am fully aware that some peoples home styles of cooking have extra sweetness (usually by way of tamarind chutney or sugar) based on their families taste but this was straight up a dessert. The Potato filling was cold and tasted almost like potatoes and molasses. The Pani, although wonderfully aromatic was atrociously sweet as well! You’d be better off getting the frozen pani puri filling from an indian grocery store and same for pani. It would probably be cheaper too.
For two appetisers, two sides, and two non alcoholic drinks we paid over $50. That's almost $25 a head! If the quality of food was better I would chalk it up to typical disney food costs, but this is definitely a miss. I am almost disheartened that our food is being...
Read moreI am a big fan of Indian food and was excited when I saw this place coming to Disney Springs. I finally had the opportunity to try it.
The location is a quick service where you order and pay in advance at the counter, then sit down to eat.
The location is pretty hidden. It is next to the Christmas shop, tucked back into a corner near the restrooms. I think many people would pass by and never know it is back there.
Inside, the seating area was pretty dimly lit and didn’t have much in the way of theming or decor. It was pretty plain and uninviting, especially for a location at Disney.
I ordered the build your own bowl with the cumin basmati rice, masala roasted cauliflower, and bhunna sauce. All the bowls come with pickled red cabbage, indian pico de gallo, and masala chickpea pearls.
I started off tasting the sauce since there was a lot of it fully covering the main. The sauce was full of flavor but extremely spicy. It is way more spicy than you would expect. Thankfully the rice and cold vegetables added some reprieve from the heat. The chickpeas added nice crunch and a change of texture.
Now on to the main, which I chose cauliflower. I fished around in the sauce until I found a piece of something. You couldn’t really tell what it was because of all the dark sauce. I bit down to quite a surprise because it was chicken, not cauliflower.
This was quite a shock to my palette because I am vegan and haven’t eaten chicken in over 20 years. A cast member noticed my surprise and saw me spit it into a napkin and came over to check on me.
They quickly remade the dish with the correct cauliflower entree. They offered me a free desert for the mix up, but unfortunately all the deserts contained dairy so I couldn’t take them up on their offer. They did not offer any other options or to comp anything. Oh well.
The menu has clearly labeled vegan and vegetarian dishes, but beware mixups seem to happen and reading other reviews, it seems to be a chronic problem they are having.
At $18 plus tax for the bowl, the price feels way too high. By comparison I can get an amazing build-your-own bowl from Satu'li Canteen inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park for $13, and honestly that is a better bowl of food.
Will I come back? Sadly,...
