Always a great meal, and great time at Monk's at the Wilderness. My husband, kids and I went to dinner tonight, and were seated in a big comfy booth with plenty of entertainment up on one of the many TV's in the dining room. After getting our drinks, we started with an appetizer of half an order of Monkey Fries. Love that it comes with a cup of the best ranch I have ever had.(Seriously try it) We also tried the vegetable beef soup, it was hot and delicious served with crackers. Our kids then ordered off the kids menu, the grilled cheese, White Cheddar Mac and cheese, and cheeseburger. They all got a side of apple slices with Carmel dip, (which I thought was really unique), and a chocolate chip cookie. I thought the kids menu was awesome with a lot of choices and sides, it was easy to read and understand your choices so it was easy for my young ones to pick without help. They ate almost everything on their frisbees that they serve the food on (yours to keep). Love it. Lastly, my husband and I got the crispy chicken pesto white cheddar mac, and a double patty classic Monk's cheeseburger with fries. The pesto mac has house made bruschetta on top that really brought the dish together, my husband doesn't like tomatoes but really enjoyed this part of the dish. The burger was obviously phenomenal, slightly pink in the middle like I asked for, and was super juicy when it arrived at the table. Monks burgers will forever be my favorite burger from a restaurant, do give it a try. Before we left, we stopped at the small arcade in the front of the restaurant where there was two " play till you win" machines, one for rubber duckies and one for candy. One dollar was a great price for play, and all my kids got a prize. Great addition. Overall, if you are looking for a great family dining experience in Wisconsin Dells/Lake Delton, or the best burger in town, this...
Read moreToday, the hostess and waitress we had went absolutely above and beyond for my family.
My son is 5 and autistic. My daughter is extremely 3. We came to Wisconsin Dells for our first family vacation since my son was an infant. It got off to a rocky start. We had a long drive, and our first attempt at walking down the main strip went a bit sideways. We were all tired and hungry. My wife and I were feeling a bit defeated. So we decided to go to this Monk's location. We had both been there before so we knew what to expect.
My wife went in to put in orders for the kids before we got them out of the car. She explained our situation to the hostess. Not only did the hostess go back to the kitchen to give us an estimate on how long the kids meals would take, she asked if our son was sensitive to sounds. He is, so she made sure we were in a quieter part of the restaurant.
When we came in, we got taken to our table and seated promptly. There were waters with lids and straws already waiting! The kids food was out before our appetizer. Our waitress was incredibly kind and patient, and very sweet with our bubbly, talkative daughter. By the time our kids were "done" (getting squirmy from being in one place too long), we not only had our drinks, our appetizer, and our food, but our bill as well.
It was one of the calmest and most pleasant dining experiences I've ever had with my kids and it honestly turned the whole day around.
I wish I had been able to take the time to get the names of the hostess and waitress that had been so kind and generous to my family. I hope they see this and know just how much they helped turn our day around for the better! Thank you, thank...
Read moreThe manager Duran was very rude. We show up and ask for a table for 20 for a kids birthday party. They don't take reservations and we tried to call ahead to let them know what time we would be there and how many. They don't do reservations. Ok, we tried to give them a heads up. Duran told us we couldn't sit until the whole party was there. He asked us how many are here now. 3 times we had to count and tell him. He asked us to do a head count 3 times. 15 of us were there to help decorate the table and get everything ready for the birthday girl. 3 times we counted 15 people. After the third time is when he decided to get the tables ready for us. Ok cool now we get to sit at our tables. We start getting the tables decorated and we put the gifts and salt, pepper, menu's on the table next to us just to get them out of the way while we decorate. Duran comes over and asked if we are taking that table too because he was about to sit that table. We told we would be moving everything off to our table after we decorated it. Which we did right away. After which he never sat that table. Made us feel like we were being a bother to him just because we decided to come to his restaurant and spend a lot of money. The power trip he was on making us do a physical count 3 times before seating us. And making a point of telling us he was gonna seat a table next to us we were temporarily using to put gifts and menu's on while we decorated the tables. Which again he never sat. Brit, our server, did an awesome job getting everyone on separate checks, made sure our orders were right, and made the rest of the night very enjoyable for us. she is the only reason I didn't leave 1...
