There was nothing I liked about this restaurant it was very smokey inside and smelled funny. The smoke burned my eyes as we passed the table next to ours I think the Tappan chef forgot to turn on his overhead fan. They were very rude when we entered we had made a reservation for it was our anniversary and we were seated first at our table we asked to face to toward the TV and were told that four other people were to be seated at our table and we had to sit at the very end corner with our back toward the TV. We ordered shrimp and scallops and a sushi roll when the tappan cook started cooking all of our food while he was frying our rice I noticed he did not put any butter on the rice just oil when it was almost done I asked if we could have some butter put on ours. He picked up the large container of butter and handed it to my husband to give to me saying if I wanted I could have all his butter for he always put butter on it he was very rude not to mention embarrassing. I guess I must have made him mad when he was cooking the food for he put the steak chicken scallops and shrimp all on together cooking in the middle of the grill touching each other and then he put the vegetables to the side. he cooked first the other peoples steak cutting it up and added lots of butter to it and serving it to them then he proceeded to do the chicken next numerous times bumping into shrimp and scallops which were cooking this whole time without him even turning them buttering them putting anything on them just letting them overcook. When he added the soy sauce a whole bunch of it to the chicken he also added it to our shrimp and scallops then he proceeded to take off the chicken and give it to the other people still leaving our food on. He then gave us our food he never even cut up our shrimp nor our six scallops that was between the two of us.Our food was horrible not only was it over cooked, had no seasoning butter or anything I couldn't even eat it.Our food was horrible not only was over cooked but it was very very salty. Then I couldn't believe it the tappan chef after he cleaned the table he held out his hand to everyone and moved his 3 fingers like when you asked for money..how unprofessional the other couple tipped him and so did the other man. I couldn't believe it! When our waiter came back we asked him about our sushi which we never received yet while he was serving the second order of sushi to the people next to us he told us they were making it and it would be here shortly. When it did come it wasn't any better the fish tuna that they used was not fresh tuna it was frozen, also the spicy tuna inside was very bland. I told the waiter that we were very unhappy with our food that it was way over salted and it was also overcooked he said he would talk to the cook about it and he never offered to make us any more food or give us any kind of credit.they were rude when we were leaving the waiter said here is your check he never said thank you or told us to have a nice day or anything. we won't be back. This is the first time in 30 years I never left any tip also compared to other tappa, grills in CA they are way...
