I'm leaving this review a week later because I was giving them a chance to correct what I thought was going to be corrected.......
Me and my wife walked to this restaurant, from El Cortez. Not far at all and it was a bright and sunny January day with temperature in the mid 50s. Walking into the restaurant, the place feels very cafe style. Nothing special, but very nicely kept. We sat in the corner table by the windows facing the street, which was great because I like to look at who walks in and out of wherever I'm at (years of security made me this way). As soon as we settled into our seats, our server came over and introduced himself, told us the specials they had and went to get us water. The manager (which we didn't know at the time) came over and took our drink order. We had coffee, which was excellent and served in a French press. This is when things started to take a turn for the worse...... the plates that were brought, were dirty with what looked like cake and jelly on them, the coffee cups had stains all over them, but we ignored it because we thought it was just coffee stains that don't come out (they weren't. The cups were dirty. Found out when I rubbed the cup at the "stain" and it came off.)
Our server then took our orders and we started our brunch with the shrimp ceviche. It looked really good. Started eating it and then we noticed a lot of the shrimp weren't cleaned (deveined). Had to push it to the side after getting tired of separating the shrimp and then getting disgusted by seeing that most of the shrimp weren't cleaned.
I ordered the carnivore omelet with the house potatoes and my wife ordered the corn beef hash with house potatoes and eggs fried over. Presentation was excellent, taste wasn't........ My omelet tasted like fake eggs. As if they made it with McDonald's foam eggs. Couldn't eat it so I picked at the sausage and bacon in the omelet. The house potatoes looked good but tasted burned. Took a few more bites of the meats in the omelet and then pushed it to the side. My wife's corn beef hash was made in house, and while we understand that every place does things differently, this did not seem like corn beef hash. It looked like cat food in a patty with peppers added. The eggs were done right and potatoes were the same as mine (burned).
We couldn't eat our food and the manager and server noticed. We didn't make a fuss about it and we just wanted wanted pay our bill and leave. The manager insisted on us telling him what was wrong, so we did. After telling him that we didn't want any special treatment, just to pay the bill and leave, he insisted that he would take care of the bill. After a couple of minutes of him insisting, I gave up and let him. Which was a very nice gesture and greatly appreciated. After a few minutes, he comes back and says that he couldn't comp the bill, but that he comped the coffee. My wife did the math and wasn't comped at all. We thought this was a mistake and that it would be fixed later on when we sign for the charge on the card. It wasn't, he put on this big speech about taking care of things and in the end it was for nothing. He claimed that he would take care of our bill next time we go there. Fully comp our meal because they dropped the ball.
After the wasted time with the speech, the quality of the food, the dirty dishes and cups...... why would I ever go back to this place? Even if the meal is going to be free, why would you subject your health in what might be another meal that is made horribly on unwashed plates?
I hate leaving bad reviews for restaurants because there are bad days and this one could've been just that, a bad day....... but because they told us they'd comp the bill in part and then didn't, it's the only reason I'm leaving this review.
Like I said before, I'd have paid my bill and walked out then never returned to the place (I explained this to the manager), but they insisted in making it right and...
Read moreAs a Las Vegas local, I'm not much of a fan of traveling to the strip and/or downtown area to find somewhere to eat on a moment's notice; however, once in a great while, that moment arrives and I'm battling the ever-so process of trying to find a nice, decently rated, restaurant to have brunch with my family. After several minutes of searching on Google Maps [yes, I zoom in on a specific area of a map that I have interest in to see what restaurant(s) are in a certain area], I finally ended up with three choices...but clearly you know which one I selected. So on 2 Jun 2024, I called and made a reservation for the same day and the restaurant was able to accommodate the time I requested.
When we walked into the restaurant, the first thing I noticed was that it was packed...which is good because that typically says a place is magnificent (well, most of the time). I wasn't too much of a fan of walking in and standing really close to someone who was already dining (it was a small "waiting" area). Regardless, one of the employees acknowledged our presence and sat us down quickly after knowing that we had reservations. We opted to sit outside in the patio area, even though it was close to 100-degree weather. The restaurant had a large swamp cooler running which made the dining experience a lot more pleasurable...otherwise, I sure as heck wouldn't have volunteered to eat outside in that heat.
We ordered Bottomless Adult Beverages, the Fresh Fruit Platter; Chicken and Waffles, Cinna Bun Pull-A-Part, Southern Style Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and Cajun Jambalaya Pasta (selected rice instead of linguine). Some of the Mimosa flavors were good, whereas a couple flavors didn't stand out as much (felt like I was drinking straight champagne - though some folks may like that). I really enjoyed the Bloody Mary that comes with the bottomless option and unfortunately, I didn't try the Bloody Beer, but I have had many in my life. The food was good with the standout performer being the Cinna Bunn. I can say that I've had much better Jambalaya in the past ranging anywhere from this city, all the way to Bossier City/Shreveport, Louisiana. I was, however, slightly disappointed with their "popular" Chicken and Waffles because on their menu, it specified, "Spicy chicken tenders on a kimchi waffle with gochujang syrup & pickles." I didn't see any kimchi on the waffles, nor could I pick out any kimchi flavor (my family all said the same thing). Also, the gochujang syrup was not spicy, nor could I distinguish that red pepper paste flavor whatsoever. Also, keep in mind that the restaurant's online menu is incorrect as of 9 Jun 2024 (it specifies bottomless mimosas at $25/person, which it is currently at $30/person).
The service was impeccable...a lot of it was due to Javier, our main server. There was another server (younger gentleman) roaming around and he was doing an exceptional job as well with ensuring our Adult Beverages were at an adequate level. Both of them were friendly/personable and attentive. The prices were reasonable considering the area - it was comparable to restaurants away from the downtown area and the strip. I especially respect this restaurant's ongoing support to the servicemembers in the Armed Forces, including its Veterans - thank you for that! Overall, I recommend this restaurant to all locals and visitors. Although, if you have small children, you may want to consider somewhere else to eat especially during brunch hours. It seems to get loud and most are partaking in brunch festivities (i.e., adult beverages). If you're ok with that, then awesome...but for me, I wouldn't have brought my daughter here when...
Read moreOk... I really wanted to like this place, i drive/walk past almost everyday before i go to work and honestly i wish i would have kept walking today or else I could have save $35.
To start the service was mid, i was greated nicely but the server left for a while and another server had to take my order, then that original server came by after 8+ mins to take my order when I told him i gave my order to the other server he was ok with it but i could tell he was a bit annoyed (perhaps?)
I ordered the stuffed french toast... the WORST french toast ive ever had! there was nothing "stuffed" about that toast it was barely any lemon ricotta marscapon in there (just a thin layer) maybe they were running out or just didn't give me the right amount Idk.. and to top it off the french toast had no flavor; I didn't taste any cinnamon, nutmeg etc it was just just a soagy mess... i litterally only ate half of one of all 3.
lastly I got my bill and they are KNOWING charging different than what is on the menu. The french toast was supposed to be $20 but when i got my bill it was listed as $21 (now i aint hurting for $$) but they should let their customers know about the price change!! either on the menu or in person. Now i dont think the server thought I was going to catch it but i did and i showed her the menu that was still in front of me vs what my bill shows, she says "oh yea i know they raised prices" like girl C'mon! u know dang well u should have said something before hand, so she "magically" brings me back my new receipt and change and all of a sudden the bill says $20.. now im not the sharpest tool in the shed but im pretty sure they have different buttons for their menu that have the same items with different pricing.
One of the only reasons this is why i think that are knowing overcharging customers and while i can give a solid review/opinion on this place is because I am currently a server AND a bartender.. It is clear and evident that this restaurant doesn't know customer service or even have good business practices... at the bare minimum you have to state if prices on the menu change for your customers at any restaurant no matter how its done(verbal, on the menu, a marketing sign in each table etc) due to these 2 things that are honestly upsetting and frustrating I definitely wont be back but if you do go here check the prices and make sure they are not trying to get one over on you because just like i work hard for my $$ yall do too and customers have a right to know the correct pricing and also have the right to good food!! this place sadly missed the mark on...
