In the heart of Downtown Las Vegas, just a stone's throw from the vibrant Arts District, lies a true culinary daredevil: Evil Pie. This isn't your average pizza joint. It's an electrifying, punk-rock-meets-daredevil hole-in-the-wall gem that proves some of the best food is found off the beaten path, far from the neon glow of the Strip.
The moment you step inside, you're hit with a jolt of pure personality. The atmosphere is a high-octane homage to the legendary Evel Knievel, with a decor that feels both rebellious and welcoming. The walls are a chaotic, beautiful mosaic of slap stickers, each one telling a different story, creating an edgy, urban canvas that draws you in. The space is intimate, featuring a cool bar, a cozy indoor dining area, and a small outdoor patio for those who prefer to dine al fresco. The vibe is loud, bustling, and wonderfully overstimulating, which is part of its charm, though families with small children might find the volume a bit much and opt for takeout.
But the real showstopper at Evil Pie is the food. While the drinks are great and the service is excellent, it's the menu that truly elevates the experience. We dove straight into the appetizers and were immediately impressed. The garlic knots, golden and perfectly seasoned, are served with a rich marinara sauce that makes for an addictive combination. The Caesar salad was also a crisp and refreshing start to the meal.
Then came the wings. Oh, the wings! These were a highlight. Meaty, cooked to perfection, and coated in a delicious sauce. The traditional buffalo wings were a standout, non-breaded and drenched in a classic, tangy sauce that was spot on.
Evil Pie truly shines with its pizza. We visited with a group of seven friends and the service was quick and accommodating. The pre-made slices are a fantastic option for a quick bite, served hot and ready to go. For a more personalized experience, custom-ordered pies are available and well worth the 20 to 40 minute wait, depending on how busy they are. We ordered a variety of pies to cater to everyone's tastes: vegan, vegetarian, and traditional meat options. The regular pepperoni and cheese pizzas received rave reviews from our group, with my husband particularly loving the classic cheese.
The vegan options deserve a special mention. The vegan pepperoni was a solid, satisfying choice, but the real star was the vegan jalapeño cilantro ranch. This sauce is a game-changer; creamy, tangy, and with just the right amount of kick. I could have happily ordered a side of it to drink! For our gluten-free friend, Evil Pie's gluten-free crust was an absolute revelation. He declared it one of the best pizzas he has ever eaten, a high praise that speaks volumes about the quality and care put into their food.
The service at Evil Pie is as impressive as the food. Despite the bustling, fast-paced environment, the staff is friendly, efficient, and genuinely welcoming. They handle the crowds with a calm professionalism that makes you feel taken care of from the moment you walk in.
Price and Value Evil Pie offers an excellent value. Stepping off the Strip for a meal here means you get to enjoy high-quality, delicious food in a fun atmosphere without the hefty price tag. It's an affordable escape that doesn't compromise on flavor or experience.
Verdict Evil Pie is a must-visit for anyone looking for a unique and delicious dining experience in Las Vegas. Its one-of-a-kind atmosphere, combined with truly fantastic pizza and top-notch service, makes it a destination in its own right. We give it a solid 4/5. Whether you're a local or a tourist tired of the Strip, I wholeheartedly recommend making the trip downtown for an Evel Knievel-inspired adventure for your taste buds. Just be prepared for the noise, and if you have small children, a takeout order might be...
Read moreWe had lunch at Evel Pie on a weekday in May, 2023. At first we thought they were closed because the appearance Was more like a warehouse than a restaurant. But there was a sign outside saying they were open. That gave it away that this was going to be different. Evel Pie is a theme restaurant paying homage to Evel Knievel, the motorcycle daredevil. A lot of younger folks may never have heard of him. Evel was a motorcycle daredevil who was very poplar especially in the 1970's. He was known for jumping motorcycles over things like buses and such. But his famous jump over the fountain at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas was a more famous highlight. Evel passed away in 2007. Inside Evel Pie was definitely different. To me it comes across as part biker bar, part museum and part pizzeria. It was very dark inside and took a little time for our eyes to adjust. It was pretty busy and we waited a bit to find a table. But we had time, so it didn't matter. We ordered a pie and some beers. Looking around there is many pictures of Evel, his life and career. They had an Evel Knievel pinball machine that I use to play way back when. Even a Evel bicycle hanging from the ceiling. It was kind of a cool little place. The pizza itself was good for west coast pizza. It was better than most. But no matter how good it is, it's still never going to be east coast (New York) pizza. Like bagels, I guess it has something to do with water, and how dough rises. Of course cheese that allows for grease normally is a sign. Unfortunately, Evel Pie is good, but not that good. But as I said, better than most that we've had out west. The rest room is different. It doesn't call itself a mens or women's, or even restroom. It calls itself human room. I found that interesting as a new title. It's also very accurate. Now the down side of Evel Pie is that they didn't seem like the cleanest place we've ever been. But since we're not germaphobes, we stayed anyway. We had a good time. Although Evel Pie will not be the least expensive pizza you'll ever have. It isn't drastically expensive either considering you are in downtown Las Vegas. If in town, you may want to...
Read moreThe food was amazing! It's a very busy place in a busy location so expect a wait. It took maybe 20-30mins to get food, including waiting in line. My lady grabbed the line and I sat at a table with the doggo, yes they allow dogs inside. You do need to wait in line to order and then retrieve your pizza/food, no table service.
Story overview: We had four slices of pizza and each had a can of beer. Our total was about $50, not bad for two people and a dog to eat super delicious pizza, beer, and experience a great atmosphere. It was the weekend before Halloween so the dog was dressed as a taco and everyone loved him.
Food: The pizza was very delicious, not overly greasy, just the right amount of sauce and cheese and toppings. They offer a good selection of traditional flavors like pepperoni, cheese, combo, but also offer some fun & interesting flavors like Dad's Apple Pie(which was phenomenal), and they have solid side options like Hawaiian pizza but with jalapenos, Barry White that has pesto and mozzarella(my lady loved it), and my favorite was the buffalo chicken and ranch that rocked my taste buds with an excellent match of heat and flavor cooled by the ranch.
The Experience: The time to get food is about 20-30 but that is not horrible in downtown Las Vegas, plus we got a table pretty easily, someone left just as we arrived. We made sure to pass our seats along to others looking. The atmosphere and attitude of everyone we encountered during our visit was pleasant and we tried to be the same.
Recommendation: I can give a strong recommendation to this place if you are downtown and looking for a bite to eat and have 30-40mins. Even more so if you have a dog companion along for the trip and looking for a place that allows them. It is a bit loud, at least on the weekend late evening.
I have been by this place earlier in the day and it's a much slower and quiet environment so if that is your aim just plan to get here before night life emerges...
