As every Las Vegas (LV) resident or visitor understands, this city has so many steakhouses to try and oftentimes a restaurant will permanently close its doors only for a new one to open up, therefore, making it difficult to try every steakhouse that LV has to offer. Personally, I enjoy eating at some of the premium steakhouses off the strip (or away from downtown) because it's less congested and it's closer to my house. Regardless, my family and I enjoy visiting the strip/downtown restaurants from time to time so on 2 Aug 2024, we opted for Oscar's. This restaurant was on our bucket list of steakhouses for ~10+ years...well, I'd say it was more on my wife's bucket list and overall, I'd say I liked this restaurant, as depicted in my 4-star rating.

First and foremost, I enjoy how this restaurant is completely away from the casino floor; this restaurant is located on the second floor, while the casino is on the first floor. Although it may not be a big deal to others, but I'm not a fan of walking out of a restaurant only to have people immediately walk past me with their cigarettes/cigars. When you walk in the restaurant, you're met with the style and elegance of the restaurant's décor and the friendliness of the hostesses. We didn't get to sit next to the windows, but given the layout of the dining area, you still have an adequate view of the downtown structures and lights. I was a little shocked to see that the windows weren't as clean, especially for a steakhouse of this caliber. The noise level can be hit-or-miss because you're situated right by the Fremont area and the restaurant itself can get a little loud. So if you're a low-talker, you may want to exercise those vocal chords ahead of time.

Next, the service at this restaurant was hands-down outstanding...and it was mostly contributed by our main server, Arianna. She was very friendly, attentive, professional, and highly efficient - I can't say enough positive things about her workmanship. Also, when I was sitting there, I couldn't help but notice a couple things about the restaurant staff: (1) They were all moving efficiently (I used the term carpenter ants because they were constantly moving and working, and not just shooting the breeze with other employees); and (2) I think this restaurant probably has the most diverse staff I have ever seen out of all the LV steakhouses I've visited thus far - which to me, is great and speaks millions of the restaurant's management...or maybe it's just coincidental?

For our evening festivities, we ordered the Johnny Quinn's Crab Cake, Lobster Bisque, and Crazy Phil's Onion Soup for our appetizers; Skuna Bay Salmon, Oscar's 24 oz. Bone-In Ribeye, and Manny's 9 oz. Rib Cap for our entrées; Mac and Cheese, Grilled Jumbo Asparagus, and Glazed Mushrooms for our sides; and the Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Cookie (a la mode) for our dessert. In short, I felt the appetizers, rib cap, salmon, and dessert were the star performers that evening. My ribeye kind of fell short of expectations because for one, it was cooked on the medium well, to well done side, when I initially ordered medium; however, it was seasoned great! The asparagus was overcooked and had a mushy consistency; I enjoy it better when it has a slight crunch to it. The mac & cheese, mushrooms, and even the bread were good but nothing to write home to Mom and Dad about.

This business has so much history behind it (you can tell by the pictures in the restaurant of Oscar Goodman with many famous people), to which you almost have to try it to say you have. Overall, this restaurant is a "one and done" type of visit for me. The experience was wonderful, but the food didn't wow me enough to want to revisit. Of noteworthy mention, my family loved this restaurant...but they can write their own review if they want. Regardless of how I feel and the experience I had, I will still recommend this restaurant...

Stepping into Oscar's is like stepping into a grand narrative of Las Vegas history. The main dining room, with its opulent air, is a unique blend of formal grandeur and warm intimacy. The gleaming white marble floors lead you past plush, upholstered booths, inviting quiet conversations, all under a canopy of low, soft lighting that bathes the room in a warm glow. This decor creates an inviting atmosphere that encourages guests to linger and relish each meticulously crafted course.

We arrived ahead of our reservation and opted to settle at the polished mahogany bar while our table was being prepared. The bar itself serves as an elegant prelude to the evening's feast: I chose The Consigliere, a masterfully crafted cocktail blending Buffalo Trace bourbon, Cherry Heering, and sweet vermouth. This drink struck a perfect harmony — robust yet faintly sweet with a rounded finish — the kind of cocktail that not only primes the palate but also sets a sophisticated tone for the evening ahead.

To kick things off, we shared a bowl of lobster bisque: a hearty, silky concoction that was lavishly infused with the essence of shellfish. Each spoonful revealed a compositional depth that felt painstakingly crafted, showcasing flavors that were both rich and nuanced. We also indulged in Cardini's Caesar (complemented with parmesan, anchovy, and crisp garlic croutons): the crisp romaine leaves were tossed in a bright, savory dressing that showcased the briny anchovy perfectly, while the garlic croutons offered a satisfying crunch — a classical Caesar that was reverently executed and elevated by attention to detail.

The highlight of our meal arrived at our server's enthusiastic recommendation: the Dry-Aged 18 oz Kansas City Strip, prepared medium-rare to accentuate the inherent qualities of the beef. This steak was nothing short of exemplary. The process of dry-aging contributed an intensity that was deep and unmistakably beefy, punctuated by nutty and buttery undertones that hinted at the careful aging process. A subtle complexity danced on the edges of flavor, reminiscent of blue cheese — a delightful whisper of funk that added depth without overwhelming the palate. Texturally, the steak was tender and juicy, and finished with a perfectly seared crust that delivered both rich flavor and satisfying contrast.

The accompaniments — steak fries, crisp-tender asparagus, and a vibrant chimichurri — were thoughtfully chosen to complement rather than overshadow the steak: the golden, crispy fries provided grounding comfort, the asparagus offered a refreshing vegetal counterpoint, and the chimichurri brought a lively, herbaceous lift that cut through the richness of the meat beautifully. Throughout the meal, the service was attentive and knowledgeable, with our server's recommendations proving impeccable, perfectly in tune with the refined ambiance without ever feeling austere or pretentious.

In summary, Oscar's goes beyond merely serving a meal; it represents a polished homage to classic steakhouse virtues — exceptional beef, thoughtfully curated service, and a breathtaking interior that enhances the dining experience. For anyone in search of a quintessential Las Vegas steakhouse experience, this establishment is an unequivocal must-visit. I departed content and already plotting my...

Make SURE you make a reservation! They didn't ask if it was an event when I made my reservation, so if you want them to recognize something you should mention it at reservation. I was very impressed with the establishment. Quiet yet mumbles and muttering of enjoyment. I actually stayed at the Plaza hotel and visited this restaurant after watching Tonya and Dave from Turn It Up World reviews. The atmosphere is very clean and there are beautiful chandeliers and table settings plus a glittering view of Fremont St. Regardless of the atmosphere, it is not required to dress formal or wear a house jacket to enter (which we have experienced traveling at times) In my opinion this makes it very tourist friendly. This being said, my husband was in basketball shorts, t shirt, and hat ( it also was our 28th wedding anniversary LOL) . They do bring you bread, butter and water before ordering. Our waitress didn't bat an eye with the multiple questions my husband had regarding the menu. We ordered crispy calamari for an appetizer. We asked if it actually comes out crispy and we were told yes. It was. Seasoning was delicious and didn't even need any of the 2 sauces it came with. I ordered Red wine and the pour was good. I ordered the surf and turf with JUMBO shrimp and they were certainly that. Huge and delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection. My husband got the rib cap and my son ordered the rib eye and both of them said theirs was cooked perfectly as well. They preferred the steaks at Oscar's more than Hell's Kitchen ( I ordered the wellington there so can't compare). As for sides(wich if you are unaware everything is a la cart) meaning separate charge. Hubby and I ordered the ceaser salad. My husband didn't like it at all. I liked it but at $18 and it being so large, I wish we had shared. It is a large romain stalk cut in half and dressed with dressing. That being said, I paid $16 each for both my glasses of wine and didn't bat an eye. I did see many people sharing sides that were large so if you're on a budget don't be shy to do so. The management came by our table to check in and asked how things were wich was nice. When she noticed my husband didn't eat his salad she asked if there was a problem with it. He said yes, sorry I really didn't care for it. She looked shocked and took the plates away. Our server came by often making sure we had everything we needed, and the was a gentleman who's job was simply to make sure we always had water. That was wonderful to be given that much water after being in Vegas for days lol. Bless that young man. At the end of the experience we were all stuffed and smiling despite my husband's salad sadness. The food was delicious, the service was excellent. There was only one thing I had a problem with. After management came by and was told of the $18 Roman heart salad disappointment, there was absolutely no attempt to rectify the disappointment. It wasn't addressed by offering another option or taken off the bill. Basically it wasn't addressed at all. That was the only thing that made me feel not only disregarded, but sorry for the waitress we had whom was so awesome. We didn't punish her in her tip for horrible management, but I'm sure there are...
