Yesterday afternoon after a long hot motorcycle ride, we had to stop by Handel's Homemade Ice Cream on the way home. When they say they don't skimp, they really don't. This is the second location I've been to and they still don't disappoint you ever.
I got the medium in a waffle bowl which was a lot of ice cream, but I also wanted 2 flavors. I got the black cherry ice cream and strawberry cheesecake ice cream. I've never had black cherry ice cream where I also got almost a whole cherry in every bite and this place had it loaded with cherries. The strawberry cheesecake was dead on with cubes of cheesecake in it.
I heard comments from other customers that said, "Wait, that is a small? That is so much ice cream for a small." Or "I should have gotten a small, the medium has too much ice cream."
I was very curious about the Monster Shake they had on the menu for just under $10. Then I saw one of the employees dig out one of their biggest cup and then I started to watch this poor girl start working on this item into the blender. There was probably enough ice cream to fill a pint or maybe more. That is so much shake and in whatever flavor you want too. If you want it extra thick, it is only $1 more. When the customer walked off with it, it was as if a toddler was holding a massive cup of pure ice cream shake joy. Maybe one day I'll order one to have for the next week. 🤣 I'll definitely be back for more ice cream. It is definitely the best bang for the buck.

Read moreBefore we talk ice cream, just know the navigation to the Lehi, UT store is a little off. We had to make a couple u-turns and follow the signs to get there. That included parking a half block away, on a Friday night, and sprinting with masks and high elbows to the line that was already 30 deep outside the door. This may be the reason the navigation was never updated. The frenzy had begun! Picture shark week for humans, the water is overly chummed, and there's a sense of anticipation, urgency. Don't worry though, they're fast. We had 3 employees ask if we needed help with our order. Back outside, euphoric victors exit the neat white interior with triple stacked trophies in hand for all to see. Licking or biting savagely to claim their prize and be sure that it doesn't melt in the car. All eyes in the line leave the menu board and watch longingly. The good news is we are not seagulls, following these folks into the parking lot, down the street, trying to steal their bounty. Don't think I didn't consider it! "Rule#1-claim your cone and then protect it" Your family will not be as civil. Our first visit, we needed the long line to make a decision. Hesitate here and you'll pay dearly. It may be advisable to search the "menu" to know how to arrange your ice cream and then the separate "flavors" listing to make a solid decision before you enter the fray. We went with the 4 scoop sampler and weren't disappointed. All of it was fantastic! Plan on eating your ice cream shortly after departure. Unless you live close, it ain't gonna make it. Review...
Read moreDelicious!! I ordered the 4 flavor sampler and was not disappointed by any of it, which says a lot because I'm very particular about my ice cream. The flavors need to be creamy, the mix ins need to be soft and fresh, the scoops need to be sizable but not overwhelming and don't even get me started about how terrible it is to find crunchy ice bits from the rinse water that dripped from the scoops (which happens when employees aren't careful). All of these considerations will either make or break an ice cream shop for me. This place effortlessly met all my expectations. They have a large amount of flavor combinations so you really can't go wrong here. There's something for everybody! As for flavors, I enjoyed the cinnamon roll flavor best out of those that I tried, and I really loved their cookie dough because of the small chocolate chips (large chocolate chunks are just too overpowering imo) and brownie pieces. Their raspberry cheesecake flavor was good but I do have to say that if that's the flavor I'm craving, I'd prefer a rasp cheesecake shake from JCW's. The price is comparable to other good ice cream places like cold stone. The place was busy but not packed, I didn't have to wait to order (in fact they were waiting on me) and was very clean. They had adequate staff to customer ratio. I'd...
