After another night of working late my husband asked where we should go to for dinner. I was feeling breakfast fare which we rarely eat during morning hours anyways. Perfect time to check out Breakfast Unhinged's new location! We got there shortly after 10pm.
I decided on a couple of menu items. The Strawberry Stuffed Belgian Waffle and The Gardener Wafflet which is basically an Omelet cooked on a waffle iron. Stuffed waffle was super yummy. I don't often do sweet but when I do it's pretty much always fruity. I didn't need to add syrup. They were out of mushrooms but the Wafflet was seasoned well and full of veggies. I prefer the traditional fluffy omelet but I'm glad I tried it. It occurred to me that these would be perfect for anyone who has sensory issues with eggs. Texture is consistent throughout.
My husband shoved a bunch of food in his face right after work so he wasn't overly hungry. He said he had to try the pancakes! Golden Dollar Pancakes come in stacks of 3 or 5. He Loved them! So fluffy, he doused them in the accompanying warm syrup.
This place has a large menu. My pics only reflect on the items we ordered. They have other breakfast fare and many, many sandwich choices. Also a Cereal Bar which lines one wall.
On weekends they are open 24 hours. Great News when looking for some late night munchies! We were the only ones dining in but several people showed up for take out orders. Another major plus is even though it's downtown they are in the strip mall at 16th and Q with its own parking lot! We had a great time talking with Trish who took...
Read moreWe went on Saturday morning. Ordered two breakfast sandwiches to go. I had trouble hearing the staff [Samuel] because a TV was playing over his shoulder with cheering. His response was not so great. If I was truly hard of hearing, I would think he was mocking me. It was clear all tables had been waiting awhile for food. Some were severed half their order, completely finished what had been delivered before others in their party received their food. After an hour of waiting for our food while watching staff serve food to a table that came in after us. (I had been watching our bread and bagel sit on the counter, and then an egg was added to the skillet. After a long while of watching the egg, staff added the bacon to the skillet along with a now overly cooked egg.) I eventually went to the counter as more people were coming in. Staff made me wait while they took a very large order, which was fine but I hoped they got it together better for that customer. I asked for my money back as I needed to leave. Staff proceeded to tell me my food was “almost done”. I repeated nicely and multiple times that I needed to leave. After 15 mins of an “attempt “ to return my money (and still no breakfast sandwich), I finally asked that staff call when they figured out how to refund me. After several hours, I called and was told they would have to call the cash register company to figure it out.
It’s now Tuesday night, no call. By the way, the ice machine is still broken (1 month after the first mention in reviews). Unfortunately, this place is not...
Read moreIt was our first time there. The waitress was withdrawn and distant. Also confused about adding cereal into the waffle batter... it's advertised on their website. It's why we came.
They were out of every drink we wanted to order. We tried to order three different drinks. They were out of all three. I was able to be served a protein drink that can be bought for $3 at Walmart and they're charging $5; same drink, same container. Why not pour it in a glass?
With one of the drinks, for who was with me, the waitress said hold on let me check to see if we have it. She came back to the table said that they did, so it was ordered and then the waitress came back with an entirely different question for an entirely different drink! So I asked what about the other one? She said we're out of that too. Um... She had checked to make sure that they had it, came back to the table and told me that they did have it but then when she went to go get it, and came back again, she asked if I wanted 1% or 2% milk. Um... what? I never wanted milk. I didn't order milk.
At that point we got up to leave.
As we were leaving I said you might want to have everything in stock. I believe it was the owner who said they have everything in stock. I said no, not according to the waitress. He asked what is it that we don't have. I reluctantly told him and he said oh no we don't have that. What else don't we have? Really? And he said, oh we don't have that either. I can't get it from my supplier.
Not going back...
