To start I will say this was the best and worst experience ever at The Green Gateau. We arrived at 6 promptly seated with reservations as normal. Calvin our waiter offered probably the best service of all the times we have been. Explained the menu, specials, our drinks arrived shortly after as well as our appetizer. The calamari was decent yet quite a few of them came unbreaded but the sauces were tasteful and dispite the few unbreaded it was decent. After another 20 min our pre dinner was served. My wife’s salad with cranberry’s walnuts and feta cheese over crusted Parmesan was very good. I ordered the lobster bisque soup and I was very disappointed. Very bland , not 1 piece of lobster found in the entire bowl yet filled with green onions. The toasted bread was very bland and was half submerged into the soup making it un eatable. The dinner rolls served with both entrees at the time however were very delicious. Perfectly baked , moist and the butter was very tasty. I found myself using the dinner roll to submerge Into the soup to add a better taste. My wife’s wine was served originally as nothing more then a sip or sample and when served by the manager himself to not notice that a glass of wine was served with nothing more then a tasting sample was strange and for my wife to have to ask is that what you call a glass now ? Was quite interesting to say the least. My wife ordered the salmon as usual and I decided to go with the wagyua steak special . I asked to dismiss the roasted broccollini for a extra side of potatoes and my steak to be medium rare. My wife’s salmon came out hot and delicious. For my plate I can only say it went untouched. The kitchen actually received my plate back with all of the meat minus 1 bite which was chewed and god help me I’ve never done this before but spit back onto my plate. My steak was almost uncutable and tearing. It was completely dark red minus the few seconds at most it was cooked on each side and was cold to the touch. I was served broccoli when I specifically asked for none and to add potatoes which I never even received. After a few bites of mashed potatoes I sent my plate back asking not to have it returned. Mind you now that at this time it is 730 when we finally received our dinner. We have been here almost a hour and a half and my dinner was out in the trash. At this point I’ve ate almost half of my wife’s dinner as it was excellent!!! So we decided on desert. Calvin our waiter offers us deserts and we decide on the lemon cake. And he was right. It was by far probably the best lemon cake I’ve ever had.it was moist the lemon taste was great, as well as the garnish to go with It was Ruined however by the burnt and horrible coffee that we were served. It is now 815. We have finally finished our dinner after over 2 hours. And when I received my bill for well over 100 dollars and being charged full price for a meal I would not touch was not only a disgust but a slap in my face. My wife and I have came to this restaurant for years. But we have both decided that we will no longer be returning. After paying for dinner my card was not returned. I went to the desk to ask and was told that they would try to find my server and see what happened. Shortly after the manager comes out to my table with his light on! From his cell phone scanning around my table asking me if I may have dropped it embarrassed me in front of everyone! And shortly after another server I never met comes over while the manager was shinning his light around still and offers my card asking if that was it. Complete disgrace and disgusting experience. Atleast I enjoyed the long dinner out with my wife as that is all I wanted to begin with. But I am very disappointed in my visit this last time ever to The...

Came here for an impromptu dinner with my boyfriend and was really impressed with everything.
We got the Mango Mint Mojito to start off and it was really good. Just the perfect balance of the mango and mint taste. I couldn't even get the alcohol through and could have just had that entire thing in one sip!
They brought us fresh croissants before the meal and oh my gosh! They were so so soft and warm, I just cannot! Definitely recommend having them immediately.
For the main course I ordered the rainbow trout. It was a ginormous fillet of grilled Trout with roasted zucchini and a bacon sweet potato hash. And then topped with sundried tomato pesto, asparagus and a lemon burre blanc. The fish was perfectly cooked and went so so well with the pesto and lemon sauce. What an unexpectedly good combination! Also that serving size was actually huge. I was shocked!
I had actually requested for only the Brussels Sprouts and no sweet potatoes but it turned out they came together. The server was really nice and got me a side salad because she made a mistake when telling me what was possible. Really appreciate that.
The side salad was also really good. It came with a giant parmesan chip kind of a thing and some candied walnuts and cheese and dried cranberries. I had that walnut plain and just the greens and cheese with some of the fish. That parmesan chip thing was really surprisingly good as well! So crispy?
My boyfriend ordered the special for the night which was the walnut crusted salmon. It came with a vegetable risotto, grilled asparagus and citrus burre blanc sauce. His salmon was cooked really well and that walnut grass went perfectly with it as well. The risotto was super creamy and just a such dish overall. That food was over really quick!
For dessert we ordered the Beignets! It came with a strawberry jam and a lemon curd. The Beignets were just beautiful! So huge and so warm and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Perfect amount of powdered sugar and they tasted so so good even without any of the extras. I would really recommend the lemon curd!
Just a really good dinner place overall....
Read more_ tl;dr _ Great value: quality and portion; Best food in town. I cannot recommend this place enough.
Atmosphere Quiet, nice music choice (classy), elegant overall with stained glass, books, art, and plants. Black and white linens were a great touch. Perfect place to have conversation.
Drinks Great value. Extensive wine selection. Not as many spirits available, but carefully selected. Wine pairings were suggested with the specials.
Service Attentive and courteous staff. There were two large parties that likely led to some delays; despite our understanding, they offered free salad and dessert each. Very generous (thank you, again!).
I did wish our particular server was more knowledgable about the bar; however, they were not only willing to find the answers for us, but proved to be very knowledgable about the entrees and desserts.
Food Great selection, variety; good daily specials.
We started the meal with their amazing truffle fries which included three delightful and eclectic sauces.
Parmesan crisp plated with the salad provided a great aesthetic, but was still maybe too large.
*Me: Sesame Duck. I found the crusting of sesame a great choice. They used a mixture of white and black seeds. No silly shortcuts here. The risotto was perfect and slightly creamy. Something like a red pepper coulis decorated the plate edges and provided variety to bites later in the meal. The overall presentation was fantastic.
*Her: Chicken au Poivre. She thought the chicken was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The duck confit sausage was "heavenly and paired well with the chicken." Mashed potatoes were perfectly seasoned and tasted amazing with the mushroom cream sauce. The sauce was slightly salty for her taste but didn't detract from her experience.
Dessert options were beautifully presented. Usually, I don't have trouble choosing one or two desserts, but it was nearly impossible. I went with the Lemon cake (Pictured :') and she got the Pavlova with mango puree and blueberry compote.
Conclusion I cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you for the best experience we've had since...
