This place used to be the best. For some reason over the past year especially, it has gone to hell. The service is absolutely abominable and the food is terrible. This is NOT just based off of a single experience either. The waitress that was waiting on us at our last visit was hopped up on some sort of speed, sweating bullets which was dripping into our beverages and food, and she atnlso used her hand (her palm) to wipe the sweat off of her forehead and continued to serve us, even after a complaint to the manager. The food was cold, not prepared in the manner in which we had ordered it and she had forgot to bring us what we had asked for, i.e., extra condiments, napkins, so on am so forth. Not to mention that when we did ask her asked main for what we wanted (just a simple request for some ranch dressing and salsa), she disappeared into the kitchen and was not seen for 15-20 minutes! Oh, did I mention that it took nearly 25 minutes for us took even receive our beverages and another half anndnn hour to get our appetizers (2 side salads which they just dump out of a bag into the dish). Then we waited another hour (for real, a whole hour, maybe even longer), for us to receive our main dishes. I also failed to mention that the place was at half capacity and it took 30-45 minutes for a party of five to even be seated! The thing that really got me was the fact that the restaurant was only aerated half customer capacity and the service was slower than molasses in the month of January. We complained to the manager aeatedtnd nearly everything that we ordered was either cold or plain wrong and he hardly discounted the bill when in actuality we should have received that sorry excuse for a meal, for free. Also worth of mentioning is we have recently called for take out (because we plain and simple will not go back into that restaurant) for a simple half order of nachos and the two to three times that we called to order take out from them, we were told that it would be AT LEAST AN HOUR AND A HALF! For what? I mean for crying out loud, what in the world is so terribly difficult about putting nacho chips in an container with three containers of nacho cheese, salsa and meat sauce. We are boycotting this Denny's location and will NEVER give them any sort of business. I highly recommend that you avoid this location for a sorry excuse of a restaurant. I...
Read moreI left the Denny's in Altoona, PA disgusted by both the manager and the wait staff. If I could leave zero stars, I would. I stopped in for a bite to eat with my family on July 3rd. They had people in the restaurant, but it wasn't packed or even all that busy. We waited at the door for five minutes without anyone saying a simple "hello" or "be with you in a minute". Wait staff and the manager walked by us several times and wouldn't even look us in the eye. We finally got their attention and was told that they didn't have any tables available for a party our size and the wait would be 30 minutes. We have 5 people, and as we looked around at all of the empty tables & booths, we told them we would take a booth. One of the wait staff confirmed with us whether or not we would be willing to squeeze into a booth, we said yes, she looked around at all of the empty tables and WALKED AWAY, without saying another word and started taking someone's order. Everyone else continued to walk by and without a word and without seating us. At that moment we turned and left Dennys. We did notice that 4 other people were heading in as we were heading out, and not one word was said about waiting 30 mins for a table. My husband went back in to tell the manager that the message was sent loud and clear that he did not want us in that Dennys. The manager replied that they were under staffed, and that's when my husband pointed out that the 4 people that came in after us were seated right away. The manager walked away again without another word. We ended up going to the Red Robin next door. Kudos to Red Robin because they greeted us, seated us and started taking our order right away - and they were just as short staffed as that Dennys. Our server at Red Robin was kind and attentive and worked with her team to make sure our food was delivered hot & fresh. It was delicious. Mind you, we've been to this Dennys in the past and never had a problem. I don't know if this is a new manager or wait staff, but they need additional training. I thought Dennys was trying to improve their image with African Americans and their reluctance to wait on us. The people at this location need a lot of work...
Read moreHave been going to Dennys w/my children since they were young at this very same location. Now I'm a great grandma. Always had good food, good service & affordable prices. We would go every weekend. Sometimes even twice a week. Now that kids are grown, not so much. I've noticed thru the years how they always seemed to come out with new menus every so often so you don't notice the increase of prices thru the years. Understandable, with inflation. But, last night, after an evening out with my granddaughter we stopped in to have a late dinner. Our waitress was friendly, courteous, and attentive (older, caring). However, the new menu was missing all the favorites. It was more catered to breakfast items. Their sandwiches were minimal, four burgers and some clubs. The dinner items were few to pick from. The senior menu had very little to offer. When we received our food the omlet, my granddaughter ordered was missing the meat & cheese, toast was nothing more than warmed bread, hash browns weren't cooked enough. My burger came with pretty much everything half in & outside the bun. As I restacked everything in the bun I realized how greasy the bacon was. As I soaked up the grease with the napkin & put back together then smashed it down to take a bite, still grease oozed out. The food was way overpriced for the quality we received. I decided then never to go back. Even checking out, the register person couldn't get the register to work. While standing there I looked over at the very young, barely out of high school cooks wearing baseball caps. I remembered when I first started going there the chefs displayed wearing their chefs hats proudly. The higher the hat the more experience they had. The 3 star rating was only because of the waitress, otherwise I would have given them a zero if I could...
