We must have caught them at a bad time, because it definitely was not a 5 star experience. My little nephew, who had lived in Hawaii, was so excited to get some spam musubi so we popped in for a quick snack and ended up waiting for 30 minutes for 2 musubi and a single taiyaki. There were a few orders ahead of ours, none of which were huge and all seemed to take a long time. After the other group had cleared out and it was pretty much just us, we still stood around for another 10-15 minutes and eventually asked if they had an expected time on our order. We went at 11:20am on a Saturday and the place opened at 10am, so it shouldn’t have been a prep issue or day of the week issue.
The musubi was not great. Rice was undercooked and didn’t seem to be seasoned with rice vinegar or salt? Nori wrapping was chewy and seemed like way too much seaweed, but maybe that’s personal preference. Taiyaki was good.
I get that this is a family owned and operated business and that this is also Long Beach, so some things are just what they are. But overall, really disappointing experience and would probably not recommend at this point. If the business wants to respond with what happened, I am open to...
Read moreI'm not sure what manner of addictive substances they put in their drinks but this was some of the best coffee ive had in a while, and I make it a point to visit as many obscure coffee places as I can. I wasn't expecting it to be iced as I was mostly looking for something warm to drink after a 2 hour motorcycle ride so it caught me offguard when they asked if I wanted boba in my coffee, but I certainly don't regret getting it iced despite the cold drive in. First time having taiyaki as well, it was very tasty but I don't have anything to compare it to sadly other than I got the cheese one, it was kind of like a sweet cheese sandwich. The prices were surprisingly good as well considering the location and average pricing of local goods in Long Beach. It was interesting seeing a boba shop here.
The only issue is that there's not much room inside, but they can't really do anything about that. Replacing the tables with a sort of bar style setup I think would be ideal given the space constraints but that's asking too much. All things considered it's a great shop, I don't give out reviews often and almost never perfect scores. My only regret is that I live...
Read moreWe are a boba lovin' family: whether tapioca, fruit, or rainbow boba, we enjoy them all. Anytime we see a boba place we typically try it out, so it was awesome to see Long beach actually has a boba stand now- and they have a great variety of boba ( crystal boba, lychee jelly , bursting boba, panda boba), as well as interesting tea & lemonade flavors (they carry traditional ones as well as more exotic flavors like rose, sweet potato & lavender). We got a peach lemonade with pomegranate bursting bobas & a green tea with peach & pomegranate bursting boba, and they were both wonderful. Not too sweet, with delicious fruity boba, & cute cups (the glass cup is an adorable reusable souvenir that will definitely get plenty of use in my house ). They also have a few food items, which I will definitely be trying next time (bao buns, spam musabi, & adorable...
