Badmaash was one of the top items on my LA must-eats list, and it definitely lived up to my expectations! We went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon about 10 minutes after they opened, and the place was about half full within the next 15 minutes. Clearly a popular restaurant! Would 10/10 recommend the Butter Chicken Samosas! This was definitely the best samosa I had my entire life. The wrapper was thinking and crispy, and hardly had any oil. The butter chicken on the inside was just perfect. A phenomenal dish overall. We also got the Chilli Cheese Naan 2.0, which was just good. They weren't as cheesy as I was hoping for, but the Naan was decently thick. Maybe I didn't taste the cheese enough, coz my boyfriend said it was really cheesy. The chilli's on the inside and spices sprinkled on the top gave it a nice kick. The dish was good overall, but I'd probably prefer to try something else next time. The Punjabi Chickpeas (Chana Masala) was also quite nice. It had a good tamarind flavor, and was cooked just right. I didn't even need any naan or rice to go with it. Would have liked a little more spiciness in it though. The portion size was much larger than we expected, so that was quite a pleasant surprise! We were also debating on whether or not to get the Chicken Tikka Poutine, but we were quite full already, and not really feeling the fries. The table next to us got some and it looked quite appetizing. They also ordered the butter chicken, which smelled so so good. My boyfriend also ordered a chai, and they got me one too for free. I'm not much of a chai person though, so guess he was happy to have 2! The service was also one of the highlights this afternoon. Everyone was so nice to us and kept checking in. Food came really quick, and the servers were some of the best I've encountered on all my food expeditions. Overall had a great experience, and can't wait to go again. Especially for those Butter...
Read moreCame here after visiting Universal Studios. Tried the punjabi fish fry, traditional samosa, butter chicken, lamb burger, and poutine.
The fish fry was an incredibly delicious catfish with, of I remember correctly, chickpea breadcrumb coating and honestly... I'll never enjoy fried catfish again anywhere else. Favorite item of them night.
I can't compare the samosa to anything as it was my first time having it but definitely enjoyed it! Super flavorful and I loved how distinct all the ingredients were, I was expecting a "mash" of the ingredients to be inside but everything was fully cooked and carried bold flavors, also the samosas are huge.
The lamb burger wasn't my purchase but I tried it! That bad boy has a kick to it! I wish I had gotten it myself because I enjoyed it more than my butter chicken hahaha
Butter chicken was really tender and rich, I ordered with naan but if I get it again I think it'd be better enjoyed with rice personally? The naan by the way was Rosemary naan and I loved it.
Last but not least, poutine. I'm biased and don't really like french fry meals so... There's that. The fries were really crispy out the outside and I love that if I am eating fries! It was prepared wonderfully. I'm just also not used to gravy on fries lol, but if that's your thing I promise you'll like it because the flavors themselves were great!
Definitely try this place out. Top recommendations: Punjabi fish fry, lamb...
Read moreThis was my first time at this particular location, though my second visit to the Badmaash chain. Parking was a bit of a challenge—I ended up finding a spot on a side street and walking over. The main road feels a little sketchy after 9 pm, but during the day it’s buzzing with activity and surrounded by some fun experiential shops worth checking out.
The restaurant itself has a great vibe—warm lighting, cool decor, and attentive service. Our server was super helpful, and we ordered a variety of dishes (vegetarian, vegan, and meat-based). The options were flavorful and felt fresh and healthy. The rosemary naan stood out as a fun twist, and the dessert—a mango “kulfi” treat—was phenomenal. I’d come back just for that!
A few in our group ordered wine, which I found a bit overpriced. Still, the portions were good and the food quality was excellent overall.
One odd moment: an influencer walked in with a full camera crew and security. It was distracting and took away a bit from the dinner vibe. Honestly, restaurants should probably schedule that kind of thing during off-hours.
Overall, Badmaash continues to deliver solid North Indian flavors in hip, high-traffic neighborhoods. Downtown, Fairfax, and soon Venice—none are easy for parking, but the food is...
