So it took 35 minutes for us to receive our food. We had a large to-go order ahead of us, but we were dining in, so it sucked for us. We also had a large order: 10 piece thigh combo and whole fried chicken.
To apologize, they gave us a free order of cheese balls. We didn't have to mention anything or complain to them for them to give it to us. We were so starving that I didn't get to take any pictures.
The thighs are kind of weird. They're deboned and battered in like a chewy mochi dough. It was too much dough for me, and I didn't like the texture. The first batch had really small pieces of meat. Without us complaining to them, they gave us a second order of thighs for free because the chef didn't like how the first batch came out. The thighs were I think with the macho king sauce.
The whole fried chicken has lots of white meat, which I personally find dry. I did like how crunchy it was. The whole chicken I believe was the gold king sauce.
The cheese sticks weren't bad, but I wouldn't order them outside of a combo.
The kimchi fried rice was yummy and not too salty, but the portion was tiny, so I wouldn't order that outside a combo.
The rose Tteok-bokki was tasty. It had melted cheese, hot dogs, fish cake, and rice cake. It was a good portion, too.
Overall, the service, though slow, was very friendly. I like that they care about the food they output, so if something doesn't sit right with you, I encourage you to nicely let them know, and they might be able to do...
Read moreMy wife and I finally decided to give this place a chance after getting shooed away during their opening week. It seems like BHC had a rough start based on their first yelp reviews, but it looks like they've righted the ship.
We read that a lot of customers had to wait over 30 minutes for their food, so my wife and I went around 10:30am to make sure that we were one of their first customers. We ordered the Macho King Chicken (7 piece) and a side of Bburinkle Fries. Our food came out in about 15 minutes and looked amazing.
Oh man... the Macho King... I don't know what sauce they use, but I want it on everything. It was sweet and spicy and so delicious that completely ignored my bburinkle fries. Seven pieces of chicken was surprisingly filling. My wife and I couldn't even finish seven pieces so I definitely have to bring friends next time. Also, there was no indication that they used "old oil" to fry our chicken.
I would probably pass on the bburinkle fries next time. The bburinkle powder was good, but the fries itself were kind of sad. I would describe the fry as a potato straw. The inside of the fry was hollow and only had a tiny bit of potato in it, which made it pretty crispy, but for me, it was unsatisfying.
The cashier was very friendly and the interior and bathroom was...
Read moreIt's been a while since my last visit. Menu somewhat changed a little bit. Ordered 5 drumsticks of Classic hot spicy fried and 5 drumsticks of Gold king with a side of Bburinkle fries.
I don't know how they prep and cooks the food, but the drumsticks visual looked weird at first. It's not the usual chicken leg looking, but it rather looks like the meat portion looks like it's been spread out, I should say. Thought something was off.
As we were eating them, found out that the batter was super thick. Like a ball, big chunk of batter around small legs... (Attached some pics)
Also leg had lots of blood vessels (black gooey thing) so meat's quality wasn't that great either.
Whoever was cooking yesterday, he needs to be trained again. That's not how Korean chicken works. It's not Kentucky Fried Chicken! Also the oil that they used might be a but old. It was way too greasy!
Plus, the gold king sauce wasn't evenly applied on to the legs , classic hot spicy fried was very hard, tasted nothing like the ones in Korea so only had 2 pieces and throw out the 3 of 'em into a trash can...
6th street K-Town location does much better now. But other Korean chicken brand even does even better. Super disappointed paying higher...
