I've eaten here three times over my trip and I would say the food has been been a 4 and 5 out of the 5. Some of the dishes we got were really good and one of them was not. I would highly recommend the chicken sandwich as it was amazing. My friend got the chicken sandwich and added egg and bacon to it and he said it's the best ever and possibly the best chicken sandwich he's had in a very long time if not THE best. I had the smashburger was yummy and I enjoyed it! The fries are basic with a little bit of grated Parm on it I think it was. Just a classic fry.
Something I would not quite recommend is the chicken pot pie. I'm used to a traditional pot pieand this one was a little different. This one had more of a broth like consistency rather than your typical thicker consistency. Also, the ingredients were finally diced which is not typical. It wasn't too abundant in flavor but it had a great presentation and I liked the puff pastry. I would not order the pot pie again but I would come back to try something that I have not tried yet. As far as dessert goes, I had the apple pie which was probably a 3.5 out of five. The crust was just okay and the filling was good. I loved that they put apple chips on top. I got it with a side of ice cream which tasted great. It came out lukewarm when I'm used to a hot slice. The filling is not like your typical apple pie as I think it is thin sliced pieces of apple layered as opposed to an apple chunk. I would be willing to get the apple pie again in the future and ask for them to make it a hot slice. My friend got the banana split Sunday twice and loved it. Lastly, I did have breakfast in which I got the pancakes that came with a strawberry butter. It was good. Not amazing but it's just pancakes and I don't know what one can do to make them amazing. If you like pancakes would you like strawberry butter I would say go for it. I'm definitely interested in trying their other breakfast items.
The service was great and I'm bummed I Don't recall the server's name but two of the three times I had the same server and he was a delight. A white guy with some facial hair who is very nice. We showed up one of the days 30 minutes before closing and he sat us. We ate quick so they could close up and go home but we were very thankful because our work got us out late and we were hungry.
We Loved the atmosphere and decor. They had great music that we loved and my last time going there were two other guests who were also dancing slightly and their seat from the music choice.
We will definitely be back sometime when we're in LA and we will try...
Read moreLet me start off by saying this is not a 5 star review just for the sake of giving this restaurant a 5 star review. Our group wanted a good brunch spot with high-quality choices for good. A few things I would like to highlight about this place:
The food options. Options for food were diverse but not to the point of overextension. The menu contained a diverse spectrum of sweet and savory. Our group ordered the biscuit and gravy, the denae platter with bacon, the dodger platter with sausage and the black dahlia French toast with added hashbrowns. No complaints from any of us. All of the meals were delicious.
The food quality. Everything tasted fresh and tasted like it was actually cooked. The food took about 20 minutes to get but I can assure you it was absolutely worth it. I believe the reason it took about 20 minutes to receive our food was related to the fact that the food was actually being cooked as opposed to just heating up frozen ingredients. Strongly recommend the pancakes btw. 20 minutes flew by, lost in good conversation and good atmosphere. The servers were openly communicative regarding the timing of our meals and when our food was on its way.
The service. Multiple times our server would check in on us for refills of water, coffee, etc. Service was attentive. As mentioned in my 2nd point above, the servers were frequently communicating with us regarding our food status. In addition, the restaurant owner was very attentive as well. On multiple occasions the owner stopped by our table to proactively ensure we were taken care of and that we were satisfied with our dining experience. You can tell the owner genuinely cares about the dining experience based on how he treats his customers.
The atmosphere. The atmosphere of this restaurant caters to a variety of different patrons. If you want a quick breakfast spot for good food, this place works. If you want a group friendly atmosphere to have drinks and brunch with friends, this place works. While we were here there was a deal for $5 mimosas and hip hop music. The music was not overwhelming and contributed to a “chill and low key” atmosphere.
For the reasons above, I highly recommend giving this place a chance for breakfast/brunch. We came as visitors to LA and chose this place on a whim. Completely worth it. And completely worth the...
Read moreA really impressive and delicious diner! I go to a new diner every weekend and this has been one of the better ones I’ve tried in months. It’s located on the ground floor in the lobby of the Delphi Hotel in DTLA. I love the design on the inside, it’s in between retro and modern and has a chic look to it. It’s a sort of place you’ll want to stay a while, something in between a trendy coffee shop and an updated California diner. Our server was polite and all of our items came out fairly quickly. It took a bit to get our check but that’s to be expected because there was only one server working this morning. They have valet parking for the hotel behind the building for $20 or you can do what I did which was find metered street parking a block away. The other option in between these two would be a parking garage for around $8 or $10.
They are fairly new, but you would not know that from how well everything went today. I decided to start my meal with coffee and was delighted when they brought over a large and full French press, which has about three refills in it. For my meal, I chose one of the specials of the day which was the Eggs Benedict. The wilted spinach on the bottom was almost sweet and very good. It allowed me to soak up all the hollandaise. I also added chili and cheese to my hashbrowns on the side and would recommend to anyone to do the same. They also added caviar on top for a great combination. For the end of the meal, we split a Banana Pudding and it was honestly really great. There were pieces of banana bread on the bottom, and it really tasted homemade versus some store-bought recipe. I would highly recommend ordering it.
Overall, it’s slightly more expensive than other places, but still not over the top, especially for a hotel breakfast. I was honestly very impressed and plan to be back in the near future. I would recommend to any fan of diners or anyone looking for a great breakfast...
