The only thing that i think is missing is a photographer , i had to wait to check if a server had the time to take our group picture , other high end restaurants here in LA and vegas offer that service , not sure why javiers doesn’t have it 😓😓😓😓
But, overall Javier's DTLA is a must-visit destination for anyone looking to experience elevated Mexican cuisine in a sophisticated setting. With its exceptional food, extensive meat selection, and outstanding service, this restaurant is sure to impress even the most...
Read moreI was so excited to attend tonight’s launch as I live in the building that the restaurant has been built in and have loved eating at Javier’s Newport & LV often for the past decade. I had no idea I would end the night never wanting to step foot in one of my favorite restaurants ever again.
We arrived for our 9 pm reservation and were told there would be a 1.5 hr wait to be seated. The lead hostess was immidiately rude and condescending. I asked another hostess if I could speak with a manager and she advised me that she was the manager and that there was no one above her (this was a lie of course, but I let it go bc I could see how busy they were). After waiting 1.5 hrs we checked back in to see how much longer it would be and were advised that there was no answer. The hostess refused to even tell us how many tables were ahead of us. We had to be extremly pushy to get any sort of answer from her. We weren’t angry. We were just trying to gauge how much time to prepare ourselves for.
Once it was finally our turn to be seated she made sure to put us at the worst spot in the restaurant. It was not even a table and it was in a back room shoved in a corner. There were many open booths but she went out of her way to make sure we were at a terrible table and refused to move our seat.
The worst/cringiest part of the experience was that my sisters and I were really doing our best to be patient and kind. We waited three hours to be seated, and only checked in twice during that time only to be met with eye rolls and blank stares. However, anytime my husband would approach the host stand the girls had nothing but smiles and friendly faces for him. Literally so embarrassing and unprofessional.
Are we really treating female patrons as second class...
Read moreI’ve been waiting for this spot to open for a while and it was worth the wait.
When you enter, it’s a massive location and well put together. Probably the best interior I’ve been at in downtown LA for a restaurant.
Our server was Marie, she was excellent, very attentive, and helpful along with other staff members.
We started out with the esquite and I thought it was about average, I would have liked it more on the charred side as far as the corn kernels but still decent.
I had their steak salad “Endalada de asada” and it was phenomenal. Might be the greatest steak salad I’ve ever had with lots of cut pieces of steak, the flavor was excellent. I also had their seasonal fish “Pescado dorado”, it was also delicious, tender, and full of flavor. Their ceviche style dishes is phenomenal along with their guacamole. Chips and salsa is also excellent.
I had their cab forgot which one but it perfectly matched my food and it was excellent. To finish the night off we got the “Tres Leches” and a side of vanilla ice cream. The best version I’ve had so far!
Overall it was an excellent dining experience and look forward to this spot in the future. I’d definitely come back here again and check out their bar area to feel out the vibe.
update I ate at the bar and it was a great dining experience, the bartenders were awesome and attentive. Solid customer service overall and you can tell they want to make sure you enjoy your meal/drinks.
Their fish of “Pescado Dorado” Luop De Mar was phenomenal and one of my favorite...
