Where to start? We moved to Clearwater Beach in 2010, are well aware of typical beach prices and can afford them when we want to. However, we were in shock when we were told our two hot fudge custard sundaes came to over $18! Our reaction was that they’d better be good, really, really good. They most decidedly were not. As the server was trying to get the custard out of the machine, it sputtered and she gave another server a look. They both worked on it without saying anything to us. Finally, I asked if it was working and she responded that yes, it just needed to freeze harder. I was puzzled by what she might mean since I didn’t expect the amount of freezing to change fast enough to make it right for our sundaes. Next a light coating of hot fudge was put into cups followed a few minutes later by a small heap of very soft custard. My thought was that there was no way we were getting any more hot fudge because it was already about to overflow. The cups were then taken in back to add whipped cream and a cherry which took an inordinate amount of time. We observed the cups being wiped repeatedly due to the custard melting out of the cups while the whipped topping and cherry were added. The cups were dripping so much when they were handed to us that, by the time I turned away from the counter and took a step, my cherry slid off onto the sidewalk. I couldn’t pick it up because I was too busy trying to control the liquid custard overflow. We should have been given straws. I should mention that the temperature that evening was about 75 degrees so weather wasn't a factor. These sundaes should never have been served to us. I considered asking for our money back but figured these kids, who were so untrained that they’d serve that mess, would have no idea how to or even whether they were allowed to refund our money. Had I seen the responses from the owner sooner (to previous reviews) claiming satisfaction is guaranteed, I would definitely have asked for our money back. Later it occurred to me that the custard temperature might have been low enough to cause food poisoning. I hope not. Tips to the owner: fix your machines, train your staff and be fair - post your prices! Maybe you can’t afford to have signs reprinted but it doesn’t take long to stop by Walmart to grab a $20 white board and markers to post the prices. What started as a well-deserved and highly enjoyed evening out acting like tourists, ended with us feeling ripped off. Do I want to hurt someone who might possibly be a small business owner? No. However, there are potential customers out there to whom the cost of this ice cream for their unsuspecting family could completely blow their vacation budget and that is...
Read moreI rarely ever write a Review that is not positive. We ordered three items Three Waffle Cones of Frozen Custard. No Menu Board was posted, when my mother asked the price for a cup instead of a cone, the employee walked to the back to ask and the owner (who we never saw) and said a cup of Frozen Custard is the the same price as the Waffle Cone. How could that be possible? We did not see a menu on the counter, nor did the employee inform us of any menu. My cousins Waffle Cone serving was considerably larger than mine, but all three items were the same price $6.62 each. I even asked the employee to add a little more custard, she just looked at me! There was no Menu at the counter/register like the owner says there is, when replying to other customers reviews. Each item cost $6.62 each, plus sales tax which brought the total to $21.26. This is the highest priced Frozen Custard company I have ever been to! My mother was very upset as she felt blind sided with the astronomical...
Read moreThis is a worst ice cream shop that we have ever visited. There is no price list at all, so these employee can up-charge with whatever ridiculous price just to ruin your day, and there is no refund for wrong order. The cost for ice cream waffle cone was $8.55; way over price, the quality of ice cream was bad; melted within a minute received. The employees were rude and ignorant. I ordered my cream of a mixture of chocolate and orange flavor, and I had to reiterate the flavor of chocolate and orange 3 times. The employee came back with vanilla and orange. I immediately corrected her that I ordered a chocolate and orange. She acted like it was my fault for making a wrong order. Both employee; a white bearded guy and a black girl, had horrible facial attitude toward us like we were stupid. We had visited this location before, but after how horrible we were treated, we are never coming back to this ice cream shop again. All new comers, please stay away...
