We stayed at Madiera Bay resort from 6/21/2024 to 6/23/2024 and we could not get out of the place faster. First thing you should know is that they do not give you items like shampoo or conditioner or toilet paper. You have to buy these essentials on your own. They tell you they are not a hotel and expect you to know that you're supposed to get these things before arriving. Second, There are so many rules. We literally got a 6 page booklet of random rules such as setting the thermostat at exactly 80 degrees when we leave and knock down all sand castles we made on the beach. Third, they count the sofa beds as beds. So if you booked a 6 person, 3 bed unit, at least 1 of the beds are sofa beds. Most hotels do not count the sofa beds as beds. A 3 bed hotel room usually has 3 real beds and an additional sofa bed. The problem I had was that the sofa bed in our unit was broken (see picture). The matress was through the frame and the springs missings. It was impossible to sleep in. The 6 of us were not able to sleep in 2 beds that worked. I told the front desk this major issue and they said they will take care of it. After 2 nights, they did not do anything. So in short, if you enjoy spending time and money buying essential items yourself and rules that make sure you can't have fun on your vacation as well as not sleeping, then this is the place for you.

Stayed in unit 1706, Madeira I. There were ants in the kitchen every day. No laundry soap provided like it was supposed to be, almost no dish soap. Stained sheets. Damaged, dirty walls. A clump of filthy hair in the corner. Sand and grime on all the floors. And again, ants in the kitchen. Wouldn't stay here again due to lack of cleanliness. The hot tub attached to the pool was broken. Beware that the photos of these units were taken many years ago when they were new and don't reflect the condition today. The location is great and convenient to the beach, and the upper floors on the Gulf side have great views. Update: See owner's response below, which does not address cleanliness of the unit. The customer shouldn't have to report ants, or stained linens (all were stained, including the shower curtain. Not a simple QC issue). It's not very believable the damage below occurred within one year of use, as old damage is visibly different than new damage.

We stayed at Madeira Bay Resort from June 1-8 2024. We were in room 610. You will not find a better room or location for your family. The condo has been completely renovated with everything you need and the best amenities. The condo has a pool on property and off street parking. Best of all, the room has amazing ocean views! The beach access is right across the street! John’s Pass is just 2 blocks south with everything you could want with restaurants, shopping, and ice cream! The only time I needed a car was to drive 1 mile to the nearest grocery to stock up on food. The beach there is as good as we have visited anywhere in Florida. White sand, warm water, and an accessible sand bar with tons of shells to collect. It is not uncommon to see dolphins and manatees. We saw both! My family loved it and yours will too! You will not regret staying in room 610.

We had a terrible stay in Feb. 2015. We were shown pictures and paid for Room 407, but upon arrival were given Room 315. AWFUL!! It was dirty, carpet was really bad, had no kitchen table, no screen on door to help get rid of odor. Later we found out that the unit was for sale and it was very evident because a lot of things were gone - limited dishes and silverware. We were never told about the switch and would not have come if we had been informed and shown pictures of Room 315. We were to be on Bay side, but ended up on street side. The noise on the busy street was unbearable - would continue up to 2 AM and then start up again at 4:30 AM. No sleep at all. The chairs around the pool was limited and mostly broken. Even after sending a letter to the hotel asking for an apology and some kind of compensation and seeing that the same letter was sent to the BBB of FL, we received no call or letter. The staff person we dealt with admitted that it was her mistake in not putting us in a bay room and said she would contact the manager, but the next day when I spoke to another worker we were informed that nothing was noted in the computer about us being upset. When I finally saw the staff the person I dealt with and was informed that nothing was going to be done, I said that I would be making comments on the web site. She asked if that was a "threat!" I did not appreciate that and thought that that was very unbecoming for a representative of the hotel to talk to a paying customer like that. How do we even know if the manager was informed of the "bait and switch" that was done, the employees comment and the horrible condition of the room. You would think they would want to contact us. Throughout our stay we heard many, many comments around the pool from people who had stayed at the hotel over eight years about how the hotel had gone down and that they were finding new placed to...

This "resort" is advertised as a Condo/hotel but you cannot see the room you would be staying in, only a very few pictures on the web. We Booked a 3 night stay. When we got to the "resort" we were informed that they did not provide maid service while we were there or replace soap, shampoo or provide clean towels! Doesn't sound much like a hotel! Then we got to the room. The furniture in the room has multiple problems. The sofa was old and the recliner was broken (it stayed reclined all of the time!). There was no other chair in the living room. Both mattresses were uncomfortable, no support at all. The remote control for the TV in the living room did not work properly. The volume could not be adjusted. The TV remote control in the master bedroom was missing the battery cover and I could never find the TV remote control for the TV in the second bedroom. When I called the front desk they said that the couldn't move us to a different room because each unit was separately owned and the owner would lose money! What about the money that I paid in good faith expecting to have comfortable room? I finally was able to speak with a manager at TRS and she said that she would call me the next day with a possibility of sending a maintenance person to fix or perhaps replace the chair. She did call me the next morning and did send a maintenance person at 11:15. What a joke he was!!! He looked at the chair agreed that it was broken and took a picture to "show the front desk". I tried to call the manager back, but she was "out and about". Still waiting for her to call me back! I have vacationed in many places including other beach resorts in Florida. I have stayed in hotels ABnBs, condos and mountain cabins, even a Motel 6 and this is by far the most uncomfortable, disappointing and overall worst. If I could give less than 1...

The suites are individually owned which proves for a monumental difference in quality between rooms. We booked room 205 for 5 people containing two rooms with full and queen sized beds and a pull out couch. The couch was old and dirty, in bad condition, and the bottom was filthy. The room wasn't very clean and was understocked. Two rolls of toilet paper and 6 towels for 5 people. Although some advertising states the desk is 24 hours, we later found out this only applies to certain days - defeating the definition of the term. Both when we arrived and when we left there was no one at the desk and no instructions left out. Apparantly there is a lock box for these occasions that they email you instructions for - who is looking out for something like that from a "resort" that is supposed to be 24 hours? One elevator was out the entire time we were there. When asked for more towels and toilet paper, the staff was very unhelpful. They asked us when we were leaving and acted like toilet paper was rationed here or insinuating we would steal it. We asked for towels in the early afternoon and hadn't received them hours later. When we asked again there was one person at the desk and claimed we would have to wait until 10:30pm for towels - this was at 8pm! Their handouts say there are soda machines on the ground,3rd and 5th floors and after traipsing around we were told they are actually on the 2nd floor, the one we were on. Parking is also very tight. Very loose definition...
