A new Indian restaurant has just opened on State Street next to Michelangelo’s Coffee House, and it’s already a must try. While many places claim to serve authentic Indian food but fall short, Ashirwad delivers in every bite. From the first sip of their freshly brewed chai—customized to your taste—to the perfectly crisp samosas served with flavorful pudina and meetha chutneys, the experience instantly transports you back to India.

I returned to try their Chicken Biryani—a dish I’m usually quite particular about—and they absolutely nailed it. While a boneless version is available, the real delight is in the tender meat falling off the bone. The burst of caramelized onions is delightful, but just wait until the saffron notes hit your palate—pure magic. Unlike many places that dilute flavors to cater to local preferences, Ashirwad stays unapologetically true to its roots. But they do check for the spice levels for those who prefer the milder side!

They're currently in a soft launch phase, offering a limited menu that’s expected to expand by the end of the July to include dosas and other South Indian specialties. Prices might seem moderately on the higher side (a dollar or two more than the usual), but the quality and authenticity make it worthwhile. Considering that the main launch is around the corner, the space is still getting set up for full service. Looking forward to visiting once again when they are fully open!

If the local community shows them enough love, Ashirwad could very well become one of the most popular spots on...

Ashirwad Restaurant in Madison, Wisconsin is an absolute gem for anyone who loves authentic, flavorful cuisine paired with impeccable service. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted with a warm, inviting atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home.

The food here is nothing short of extraordinary. Every dish bursts with rich, authentic flavors, made with fresh, high-quality ingredients that truly stand out. Their menu offers a wide variety of options, from traditional Indian classics to modern favorites, all prepared with precision and care. Each bite is a perfect balance of spices and textures, leaving you craving more. I especially loved their [insert popular dish if known, e.g., Butter Chicken, Biryani, or Paneer Tikka], which was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented.

Equally impressive is the service. The staff is attentive, friendly, and always ready to make your dining experience special. They are knowledgeable about the menu, offer helpful recommendations, and make sure every guest feels valued and cared for.

Overall, Ashirwad Restaurant is a top-tier dining experience in Madison. Whether you’re a local or just visiting, it’s a must-visit spot for anyone who appreciates amazing food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere. I can’t recommend it...

I couldn't forget how delicious my first meal was at Ashirwad, so I came back the next week with my family. This is a late review about both times.

I love their medium korma with vegetables! It's the best korma I've had in terms of spices (tasted "fresh" - and so did the ingredients in the other noted dishes below), and I appreciated having lots of different textures in my curry 😋

Their mango lassi is also suuuper mango-y, and the garlic naan was so good, we ordered more to-go.

We also got the tandoori chicken (not too salty), and I appreciated how tomato-y the tikka masala is (tried the chicken one and paneer one). I also tried the spice level "high" of curry for the lamb korma, which tasted like the authentic level of spice I had in Sri Lanka (aka too spicy for me), and the lamb was well cooked without smelling gamey.

It is a soft open, so I think the interior is still being decorated. Prices were dinner/restaurant prices, and well worth it for the...

I recently ordered takeout from Ashirwad and was really impressed with the flavor and quality. I got the Bhindi Masala and Goat Biryani, and both dishes were fantastic. The Bhindi Masala was well-seasoned and cooked to perfection, with a great texture and depth of flavor. The Goat Biryani was incredibly satisfying—fragrant, perfectly spiced, and packed with tender, flavorful goat meat. It was one of the most generous and meaty biryanis I’ve had in a while. The rice was light and aromatic, complementing the richness of the meat beautifully. Everything traveled well and was still hot and fresh by the time I got home. Ashirwad is a go-to spot for bold, authentic Indian flavors. I’m already looking forward to my next order!
