I often time stopped at this 5Guys location in Manhattan and get a chocolate shake and a burger whenever I'm driving around in Manhattan. I stopped buying burgers there because it was always soggy at the bottom so I stick to just getting shakes. On July 3rd of 2025 I decided to stopped and get a chocolate shake with whip cream. As I walked inside, the black cashier guy who’s always at the front, greeted me and said, “chocolate shake?” and I said yes, then he said “with whip cream” and I said yes. I thought that was weird because he had never greeted me so nicely for the 4 years that I’ve been going inside there but I ignored it. He rang up my order on the machine and I paid and gave him a tip. He went to the shake machine for about two seconds and bring back “A shake”, I was so preoccupied that I didn’t even noticed that it usually took more than two seconds to make a shake. I went to my car and noticed that the shake was melted and there was barely any whip cream left on there from them having it sitting on the counter for so long. I was going to take it back to him but I was so furious that I took it and tossed it inside of the trash can at auto zone and told myself that, that is the last time I’ll ever go to that 5Guys. That was so disgusting and disrespectful for you to serve a customer food that you had sitting down for a while, especially a shake that easily go bad. Customers are paying their hard earn money and they shouldn’t be given old, stall...
Read moreThe bacon cheeseburger was tasty, and the Cajun spiced fries were tasty. Service was friendly but unremarkable.
My experience was soured by the tip screen when I went to pay. Establishments, like 5 Guys, that pay their workers an appropriate wage, should not present the tip option for counter orders. If customers want to offer a tip, we are free to make that choice in private and not a formal step in the payment process.
In this case, there is no special service being provided that warrants additional compensation. Customers wait at the counter to order, order the food, and then return to the counter to retrieve it. Where is the service that would warrant a tip?
Including a tip screen challenges the legitimacy and purpose of tipping, and it diminishes the importance of tipping in more formal environments where the workers are not...
Read moreI have been here a few times over the years, being that I went to college in Manhattan. Overall, great quality, and tasty sandwiches. They also have relatively quick service. I am going to knock them in two places. This Five Guys, and others I have visited seem to coat their bathroom floors in some sort of supper slippery coating, and I just can't stand, literally. I keep having to readjust my stance when standing in the bathroom. Also, upon my last visit, I asked for extra jalapenos in my burger and I think I had about 5 total jalapenos in my burger. Other than those two things, this location is great and on par with other Five Guys. The interior and cleanliness is good as well. I recommend this Five...
