Don't know who is writing in favor of this place BUT don't be misled. After 14 years of stopping there we, 8 of us, have decided never to spend a dime in this place again. In fact, we left due to the following; not only rude service, but unless your are a local year round, don't expect anything close to civil service! By the way, you best know what you want before you enter the "sorta run down now" place. We observed an amazed person being told that she had no right to be in the place if she didn't know what she was going to order. So much for time to read a menu. Obviously this slightly over weight person making the comment was late in getting his sugar fix! To top this off, the adolescent behind the counter by passed the shocked woman to take "local Sam's" order and then promptly told the very polite "paying tourist" woman to leave the establishment. New owners in all probabilty? So our not stopping in will not break the place, but if you expect to get civil service go down the street. If you are dying for some of the bakery, drive a few miles down Highway 101 to Nahalam and stop at Wanda's (Restaurant) who just happens to make up a large percentage of the business the "News Stand" makes in a day. You will get exceptional service, excellent food and great bakery. The grocery store in Manzanita, on the main drag, also has the bakery so skip thinking that folks at the News Stand are out on a weekend pass and go where folks...

After PAYING FOR A KING CHAI AND PURCHASING PENCILS FOR 16$, I WAS THINKING ABOUT DROPPING AN HELLO FROM MOM HINT, AS MY SON USED TO FREQUENT, HERE. Super excited to grab some coffee from this shop as we pulled in. We walked up and saw that masks were required with a sign on the door that said "what would Frida do?" Granted it's a holiday weekend and we are from out of town but the barista didn't even make eye contact when she said hi and asked for our order. We bought $32 worth of stickers and magnets and while we were looking through them they had our coffee sitting on the counter and didn't say anything to us.
