TLDR: I would not recommend visiting this Dave & Buster's location. Poor service, and dirty.
RESTAURANT EXPERIENCE: I visited the McDonough Dave & Busters last night (Saturday) to celebrate a family member's birthday. D&B is using a point of sale system where the customers place their own orders from their phone by scanning a QR code at the table. We had everything ordered an paid for and then it was brought out by the server (kind of a neat system really). I went to order a second beer, and noticed that on the checkout screen it attempted to charge me $4.99 for the lite beer that was listed on the order screen as $2.50. I called the waitress over to ask about it, and she explained that its an error in the menu that they have reported multiple times. It was listing their happy hour prices, but charging full price. It in fact, was not happy hour so $4.99 was the actual price. Now, I don't mind paying $5 for a beer, but I would have picked a different one, had I known that was the price for the beer I bought. I asked the waitress to print my receipt so I could check it, and her response was "I can bring it, but I guarantee is will say $4.99. I said "I am sure it will. Please print my copy." We asked to speak to the manager about it, and the waitress stepped away and came back a few moments later and said the manager removed it from my bill, and that I could go ahead and order my second one so it will even out. I said "He can come an speak with me. I will wait." I was not interested in a refund. My concern was that it really came across as a dishonest business practice that the waitress and business knew about it, and didn't tell us about it or make any effort to let their customers know. Mr. Daniel Finley, the well-kept general manager, made his way over to speak with us. I walked him through what my experience with the order process and he repeated that it was an IT issue, and it was a third party company that they had no control over. While I appreciate that it really doesn't change the fact that they did nothing to let their customers know. He gave me the standard "Ma'am I apologize...." but was visibly frustrated and the tone gave me the impression of "I gave you your money back, just leave me alone." My family member's wife remarked "Jeez, its a touchy subject for him, I guess" after he left. It was a fairly rude interaction, but I did get the impression that he was spread a little thin. My family member bought our second and last round because I had no interest in spending anymore money there, and the waitress short changed him (gave him only the bills, and not the change) and then was annoyed when he wanted his proper change. I am guessing she had to cash out the bill from her tips. It is a common practice I am familiar with from my own former positions as a server. You ALWAYS round up. It is poor etiquette to short change your customer when you don't have coin change. If you as a server do not want to round up because of the cost to you, then you keep change in your apron for this purpose. The restaurant should have taught the server this. It was just another example of them not being upfront with how they were handling our money. The experience totally ruined any trust I had for them. I will not be returning on my own accord.
RESTROOMS: Additionally, The ladies room was filthy. I have attached pictures to illustrate the level I am talking about. They speak for themselves. There were two pairs of sinks (1 pair did not work at all) on either side of the roughly 5 ft wide entryway for the restroom. None of the paper towel dispensers worked. They had two of the industrial rolls sitting on the sinks for customers to use. There was no soap on the side where the sinks worked, so you had to go to the non-working side, get your soap, and then go back across the entry way to wash your hands. It remained that way for the entire 3 hrs we were there.
TAKEAWAY: The games were fun, and didn't seem any more rigged than your standard carnival fare. If its your only option, just do the games. Eat...
Read moreI am highly upset with this location. I spent $100 tonight and even more over the past few years at this establishment to treat my cousins and daughter to some fun & celebrate my cousins birthday, we could’ve gone elsewhere but we chose Dave and busters because we knew it was a safe place to have fun. I work 6 days a week and today was my only off day thanks to the holiday. The 2 games we played were a game that chair moved and the objective was to help the vacationers keep the bad creatures away. I believe it is right in front of a zombie game in the middle of the floor area. & last one was the air hockey near the back where the gift shop is. I noticed after we left the gift section that my cousin was missing her unique rainbow Batman that was only one of one in a game we won in the claw machines over to the right of the gaming area earlier in the day. I frantically searched everywhere and knew someone had picked it up. I doubled back and asked the gift shop associates if they has saw me come in with a plushie, which they didn’t remember honestly. Then when I came back for a second time I noticed my cousins plushie in the pocket of another customer. I politely asked if they found it in the established and the lady quickly lied and said NO! Her family looked shocked and kind of walked away. Instead of starting a scene and or getting physical, i called for the manager. Whom seemed careless and took what seemed to be 10 minutes to arrive to the gift shop. She stated she couldn't make the customer give my cousin her toy back. The thing is I spent my hard earned money and a lot of tokens to win this prize for my cousin whose birthday we were celebrating this night. She was highly upset and cried in the car on our way home. The lady that stole my cousins plushie was a Asian lady wearing a black zip up trench coat like jacket with a little boy near her that was with her. When the manager arrived to the gift shop, the lady who stole my cousins plushie, pushed it in her pocket and closed the flap so that it could no longer be seen but we could see the bulge. Now tell, if it were hers, why would she have to hide it? I asked the manager if she could check the cameras to prove what I was saying was true and was told that only the general manager has access to this system. I was in this establishement from Around 6pm near 10 pm. I was standing in the gift shop at 9:52pm when I took a screenshot in my phone to remind myself of what time this all took place. My cousin was offered a small replacement toy nothing like What was taken from us, (including stolen tokens we could've used on something else) and a tiny replacement that my cousin honestly didn't want. I do not feel like this was an acceptable, just something to shut us up. I no longer feel Dave and busters McDonough is a safe place to visit if this type of behavior is accepted. Because of this , I will not be back as this experience has traumatized my child and young cousins& I will be leaving a review on all of my social...
Read moreI traveled with my eight year old daughter 3 hours to celebrate my nephews (two of them) birthdays on 1/19/2020. Our experience began and ended horribly. After acquiring a booth for our party not one single, employee came over. So after 35 minutes I went to the front desk. I was referred to a gentleman in a burgundy Polo shirt. I told him my situation, he asked me where was our table he followed me to the table never said anything and walked off. I never heard from him again. 15 minutes later I asked a waiter working at the booth next to us “who was responsible for this table”? He replied I don’t know but I will find out, he never returned even to assist the table he was working his guest were quite frustrated as well. I decided to try asking another employee walking by Felicity who had our table she said she did not know but would find out. She was unable to find out, but she took our orders. She was very patient answered all our questions. She explained that she was not a waitress but that she worked at the front desk and had just arrived for her shift. She was pleasant and knowledgeable about this business. I ordered the Endless Wings and Unlimited Play ($19.95) and hamburger sliders for my child. Several people in our party either did not get to order or it took forever for the food to arrive. When we were finally assigned a waitress she was young, disrespectful, and very combative with our group even With elderly members of our party. I wanted to speak with a manager. By this time everyone is disappointed our children wanted to play but we have not received food, drinks, or even water. I asked for a manager we had the pleasure of speaking with Carmen. She had a very pleasant professional attitude I could tell that she was really listening. I explained to her that I was Breast Cancer patient we traveled a long distance and our experience was horrible. She went out of her way to make it up to our kids. Felicity although now working behind the counter went and got me a glass of water so that I could take my medication. To add insult to injury I only got to eat 1 basket of never ending wings because when our party went to play with our kids, our food was removed and items such as our jackets were pushed to the end of the booth and a new group of people were now seated and our waitress was taking their order. We asked for our bill so that we can pay and leave. We were charge for the wrong items and even a chocolate cake that we never ordered (we had our own cup cakes). The only reason I gave this place 2 stars was because of Felicity and Carmen otherwise not a great experience for my family and especially my daughter who traveled 3 hours to be with her family. Hire people more people like Carmen or at least have them assist in the training of current and...
