I tried Loyo burger (the "Dan" burger) with the buy a burger get fries and a drink free coupon. Still not worth it. Frankly, it, "sooked donkey dock". Dry, under seasoned patty and some, "butch azz" fries that tasted bland and they were not even crispy. Total bummer. I would have never guessed it was part of the local yocal franchise. Local yocal carries quality meat but the beef patty tasted like cafeteria mystery meat. The soda which is, "small craft" tasted like regular azz soda to me. I don't even really like soda but ironically, it was the best part of the meal. Total meal review is a 3/10. My homemade burger and fries, solid 8-9/10. Granted, I can cook like a beast but still, for reference, whataburger would score about a 6/10. The bartender seemed nice, so, I guess I can't complain about service, which is a shame because I love to complain. Should be called LOCO burger because you would have to be crazy to go back.
To be fair, I did order take out but I ate it at the park next to the restaurant, so in terms of freshness it was about the same as dine in. Also, the atmosphere was fine but I would rather eat something that tastes good in a back alley with vagrants passed out with needles in their arms than eat glorified garbage in a place with, "nice atmosphere."
I will add one final point. Most people don't know what good food is around here. If you are someone that doesn't like flavor, this may be the place for you. Personally, I know food. This was garbage. If you really want a place that is better in the area, "One and only burger" is quite a bit better, albeit not located in the square. I guess there is, "Square Burger" but if I recall correctly, they, "sooked donkey dock" too but to a slightly lesser degree.
Thank you for your time and I hope I was able to give discerning potential customers some...

Food was good, for Fries and burgers - however there are no waiters or servers. You have to order your food on a tablet, which was ok. But this also caused duplicate side and drink orders +$20. Be careful on this. It is not an intuitive app. Then you pay with credit card also on the same tablet. You then get yourself a number and then you wait. We seated our selves when a table came up. Feels like covid days. ugh - We waited about +1 hour for our food it was Sunday around lunch. You also have to get and poor your own drink and condiments. Some employee standing around behind bar.
The burgers were good a bit greasy. Food was warm, 2 of the fries orders were soggy. We paid $90 for 4 people! ouch. This is very expensive. The extra condiments were also expensive. I would consider this food to be worth about $40 family or $10 or less - a person. Fries, burgers and sodas. It is better than McDonalds and Chic Fil-A, but not better than a Gordon Ramsey burger, which your price is higher than his. Hoppydoddy is also better. Think just below Twisted root level here..
If you're gonna charge that much, you need servers, more options, free condiments / extras and excellent front of house, not just bussing tables.
Also we were double charged for our meal to try and correct the extra side(s) errors above, which has yet to be credited from our card.
I hope that happens.
Good luck with your business. I hope you can listen to customers and adjust for future amazing service, and better marketable prices.
If you can credit me back, we will try again, when the dust settles and I will re-write...
Read moreFirst off... service was excellent.
Second, atmosphere was good. It's a burger joint. Not real special, but clean and comfortable.
Third, the burgers were average. I mean, the meat was good, the bun toasted, and it had good flavors, but it just seems that they try so hard to make a "gourmet" burger, that the basics are overlooked. You end up tasting all the gourmet elements and they overshadow the star of the dish - the burger.
I got the McKinney Melt. My wife got the LOYO burger on a GF bun. It was good, and I'll go back and give them a 2nd chance... but this time I just want the basics.
One more thing... the ketchup was nasty. It was fermented... almost as if a wine was used in the making of their house made ketchup. We tried it from another table... same thing. Nasty. I will be bringing my own ketchup next time.
Tots and fries were good, but the tots were over-seasoned. I'll just be going for the fries next time.
If you've ever watched "Beat Bobby Flay," the reason he wins 90% of the time is he masters the basics. He is the best at traditional flavors. His competition always tries to "elevate," and it misses the mark. The judges have the same comments every time. That's kind of what happened here.
Overall... good, but with tip it was about $35 (no drinks,...
