BAKED A CAKE FOR MY DAUGHTER'S BIRTHDAY THE SAME DAY!!!! AND IT WAS DELICIOUS.
The story: I left my daughter's birthday cake purchase for the last minute. I called every bakery in town with five stars reviews, and they all said NO without three days in advance order. I don't want to say the names but if you like quality gourmet cakes you know which ones. Including a new one in the McKinney Square which you would think needs the business since recently opened! I didn't want to buy a supermarket cake, no way.
I found OGI!!! Then I found European Bakery and Deli (also with five stars) right here in McKinney. I called, and Dora answered the phone, she was ready to Bake!! A super sweet and helpful voice on the phone. She had a beautiful cake done and prepared to pick up in 2 hrs. Of course I called at 10:15am FYI.
The YUMMY part: Now to the YUMMY part! The quality and flavor. Both amazing! I ordered the Strawberry Cream Cake. Super fresh of course, delicious in an upscale gourmet side and finally the super light and fluffy creme frosting. My daughter had the best birthday, and I was super happy. Dora is the sweetest lady, and when I thank her for how quickly she made the cake. She said, " It makes me happy in my heart that you have a cake and that your a happy" WOW. We need more business owner's like this couple super service-oriented decent and talented people. I will go back to try the sandwiches and the sausages!
The EXTRA SPECIAL STUFF! By the way, when you walk in the place smells literally like a European bakery for real delicious, and both Ogi and Dora welcome you with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStory time: Before moving to Melissa, we lived in Odessa, TX. There was a great European sit down restaurant named Ogiās. Great atmosphere, table cloths, bowls of bread, delicious soups and entreĆ©s and a very nice bar. Bar included a large lounge area with couches, chairs, and tables. They even had a patio. I became friends with the owners and their son and my whole group of friends could be found there for lunch, dinner or late at night for drinks and music. Spent a lot of time there in my 20s!
Fast forward: Grow up a little, get married, have a baby and move across the state to Melissa. As Iām driving down Eldorado I see a familiar sign/logoāOgiās! I got so excited to have encountered the same family business 300 miles away!
First chance I got, I stopped by to check out the new place. I saw Dora and Ogi and reminded them I knew them back in Odessa. The new place is different in offerings and atmosphere but the quality is just the same! Wonderful sandwiches and soups, amazing cakes and pastries, and delicious entreĆ©s . During the most recent visit, I got a turkey sandwich and lentil soup. My husband got the pork schnitzel. I also added a slice of Napoleon cake. All of it was top notch! I am so glad I can still go to Ogiās whenever I want and that by chance, we ended up in the same area. Definitely check them out and support them during...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI wanted to like this deli so much because of the 4.9 rating. Nothing is better than a good sandwich. However, my Reuben was bland and fell apart after one bite. The bread was soggy in the middle and dry on the crust. I don't even think it was toasted. The cheese wasn't melted but rubbery. I didn't taste any thousand island dressing and the "sauerkraut" tasted like raw cabbage chopped up and covered in a bland white sauce of some kind, it definitely was not fermented. This deli should be ashamed to call it a Reuben. The meat, whatever it was, was definitely not corned beef. I don't know where they the found sandwich meat with such a stunning lack of flavor but it was not corned beef. Overall I paid 20 dollars for what turned out to be a crappy bowl of mushy/dried out ingredients with a tiny bag of crappy, plain lays chips and a soggy pickle that tasted exactly like a Kroger brand pickle. I could have easily made a better sandwich at home for a fraction of the cost.
The lady that served me was nice but seemed so chatty that I was afraid to eat in the place and decided with to-go. It seems like they don't have a lot of customers and she was really bored.
I do not recommend or understand how this place has such...
