Tiny restaurant with a very laid-back vibe and great service. We walked right in and self seated. The staff immediately acknowledged us and asked for our drink order. A few minutes another server asked for our drink order as well. It was very clear that the staff helps each other out and aren't just tending to their own tables. This made service very fast and efficient. We had one of their draught beers, Freaky Deaky. It was really good and ice cold.
We ordered the nachos, with out the chorizo and the frito pie and added jalapenos to it. The food came our very fast, but surprisingly it wasn't hot. The frito pie serving was huge and very tasty, but the chili was suspiciously very similar to canned chili in taste and texture. I eat canned chili occasionally, so I didn't mind but if you're looking for something special this is not the dish for you. Regardless, it was damn good and I would order it again.
The nachos were a good size and looked so delicious. It had two different kinds of cheese, queso and shredded, and it had grilled diced red and green bell peppers on top. It came with pico de gallo, guacamole and sour cream on the side. The taste and texture of the queso reminded me of Campbell's soup cheese base mixed with other cheese and ingredients. The nachos were just okay...maybe the chorizo makes all the difference.
I would come back to try some of their other food. We sat next to the kitchen and all the dishes looked damn good and the portions were big. I loved the atmosphere, especially the fact they don't allow children. It's a great place to chill and...

Catering to adults only (even accompanied by an adult, kids are not allowed; but parents, the drinks are still available in the main dining of Spoons), The Garage offers a regular and rotating set of cocktails curated and invented by the bar manager, Will Garner. Each cocktail is well crafted and is worth exploring by anyone who is a fan of mixed spirits.
I highly recommend the Rusty Fizz, the Amaryllis, and the New Fashioned. The latter is an inventive twist on the old fashioned using drunken cherry juice and fireball instead of butters, and substitutes whiskey for scotch. Trust me. It’s worth having! (I too was doubtful when I saw the ingredients).
Social media fanatics will find plenty of “‘Gram Worthy” shots at the Garage.
Weekly events are also worth attending, usually falling on Thursday nights, such as the Happy Hour Club on first Thursdays featuring local DFW artist DJ MF Man!ac.
Food from Spoons is also available to order, but specialty lighter fare is also available for purchase should you just...
Read moreIm gonna give it two stars because the lady was I guess nice about it. Went in yesterday for mother’s day with my in laws and my kids. They welcomed us with dirty looks and then the lady proceeded to tell us usually they don’t accept anyone under 18 yrs old but since it was Mother’s Day they would make an exception. It was pouring outside so we thought we would just stay. We waited for about 10 mins and she came back and told us she had misunderstood and could absolutely not take us with kids but would let us go through the kitchen to the other restaurant Spoons. Already upset we had to say yes due to the rain, as we are being walked around the restaurant we see a table with KIDS! One of them looked to be the same age as one of my kids. This is absurd. Not sure why they didn’t want to take us but I’ve never experienced this!! If they’re not going to take us with kids shouldn’t they say no kids to the rest of the people??!?...
