I am someone who can appreciate the good in places, but unfortunately my experience here on a Saturday morning was not good.
Before we arrived we based our decision on brunch by who had breakfast potatoes (not hashbrowns) and their online menu stated they did. We came in around brunch time, got seated fairly quickly in the main dining room, and ordered.
They did not have any potato option besides hashbrowns, nor were they willing to make any even though a ‘special’ included them. We still decided to eat here. Upon receiving our meal, the sausage looked very pink / underdone so I did not eat it. The hashbrowns were fine ~ standard. Eggs my partner got were also ok… nothing extremely special.
The waiter came to check on us and asked what was wrong with the sausage, I explained it looked underdone and raw (very pink). She initially said that’s probably just the seasoning and that it’s the texture that matters, not the color. She then said she would let the owner know.
She brought the check without confronting the issue about the sausage and I didn’t look and the check- gave her my card. After receiving it back, she dropped it and left (I assumed they would have comped the meat since it was underdone). They charged full price and then never came back into the dining room for 5 minutes so we signed and left.
I have worked in the service industry for over ten years and it isn’t a hard thing to do to own up to something so small and comp a few $$ off a meal. In the long run, they would have had a much higher chance of my return, but now I’ll definitely be picking other places to dine at in McMinnville.
I am not mad about them not comping the food in question, but I am disappointed in the fact that they failed to have a conversation with me directly. I would have walked away much happier as a customer if they didn’t ignore my concern.
If you’re expecting a meal and service you’ll love, nearby alternatives to CC are alpine kitchen, humble spirit, and...
Read moreThis was our first time visiting the Crescent Cafe. We decided to look for another local spot when the wait at our favorite place was incredibly long. They had a great selection of breakfast choices that all sounded really good. My boyfriend couldn't decide, so he ordered the Bourbon Vanilla French Toast and Apple Pecan Crepes to try. I chose the Florentine Eggs Benedict. The dishes were beautiful when they arrived, but everything on my plate was cold, not even slightly warm. (The crepes were also served cold, but that didn't surprise me with cold whipped cream and the apple butter wasn't warmed). We both ordered coffee and were never offered to top it off, or refill it when the cups were empty. Unfortunately, our server never came back to check on us or see how our food was. I would have asked for it to be remade or at the very least heated up. The hollandaise sauce was abundant, but really needed some flavor- salt, pepper, lemon, etc. The hashbrowns weren't seasoned in any way either. Bland, cold Eggs Benedict and plain hashbrowns were not what I was expecting. When the server returned with our check without ever checking on us after our food came, I explained that everything on my plate was cold, and we both had been waiting for more coffee. I was given a 50% discount on just the eggs Benedict, without offering to remake the dish or anything. I understand that there's problems with staffing, but if food is sitting in the window long enough to get cold, or your servers are so slammed that they can't check on their tables or refill coffee, you might consider only seating as many tables as your restaurant can offer hot food and good service to. The man who sat behind us said his banana pancakes were raw batter in the middle and cold also; he was shocked that they didn't remove them from his bill either. Maybe it was an off day for the kitchen and service staff, but we don't...
Read moreWe hardly touched our food. Maybe I could see how some people might like their food but it was not to our taste. I've been spoiled with crepes from pike place market and my homemade versions and I wasn't expecting that but I personally didn't like the lemon crepes. The bread part of the crepe is dense and I prefer an airy, fluffy crepe. The filling is like cake frosting and I couldn't tolerate more than a few bites. I've come back to it a few times to take a bite because I desperately want it to be good but it's just not. Coffee seemed a little burnt? One of my favorite things about eating out for breakfast is all of the good coffee but I didn't end up touching mine until the end when I needed the caffeine. It was very busy and our waitress was somehow managing. She could probably use more help on busy weekends. We were sitting outside which is probably the main factor in our experience. Out of respect for service workers I will leave it at that. Typically I prefer to be served food that is too hot and wait for it to cool than have to take my inedible biscuits and gravy home. I can't say how that dish actually tastes fresh or hot because we have yet to pull it from the fridge. It was nice that she helped me pack our food since I needed to leave and we brought our kids. I am picky and have high expectations when it comes to flavor so take what I say with a grain of salt. We heard that people come from all over to eat there so that must be for a reason. I was looking at the prices and was doubtful it was worth it but stayed anyways just to try it out. If the food was better this would be a regular breakfast spot for us since...
