I understand why some give negative reviews.
For an establishment that should feel comfortable and Zen-like I don't feel very comfortable when I shop there. I've been there a multitude of times, trying to give this place a chance, but there's such a negative, judgmental air about this place. It's anything but Zen.
Perhaps the owner has had a lot of negative experiences, theft, and she's on guard, but she might be losing viable clientele because of this. I'm reading other reviews and there seems to be a lot experiences of judging and the owner stalking her guest. My mother, who is 80, and I gave it one last chance. I certainly don't dress to the nines like my mother. I'm a senior. I dress simply: Levis, turtle neck, tennis shoes, flannel, leather jacket. I don't wear make-up. I may not look like I have the resources to buy what I want, but I do. My recommendation is for the owner is to not judge books by their covers, which is what she seems to often do. Quit stalking the customers. If she is paranoid invest in cameras. She could make a couple extra grand or more a year, but tension emanates from her when she's constantly in your space while you're attempting to enjoy her shop. We still bought $100+ worth of items, but it was the last straw. We won't be going back. Her behavior is over-the-top.
I go to the Magic Attic , which is small and limited, but with great potential if we support it.
Also, I go to Through the Veil. It's a larger, eclectic, reasonably priced shop. Worth the drive. I go at least once or twice a month.
It says something about an establishment if a person who strive to frequently support local businesses in the area, would rather drive all the way to Hillsboro than to purchase products at an establishment because of repetitive negative...
Read moreThey didn't tell me before I grabbed all my crystals that they are associated with a number that you need to write down to hand them at check out. The employee couldn't even identify one type out of the 15 crystals I grabbed so she needed to go back and eyeball match them to others in order to ring me up. After I paid, we realized she had triple charged me for at least 4 for the stones so she had to call someone else to do the refund.. From the moment first attempted to check out it took 56 minutes. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because they have some pretty cool stuff in there. They also don't write the names of the crystals you are buying opposed to other...
Read moreThought it was just me but after reading other reviews, it's not my imagination. Was looking for a Bday present for my best friend. Picked up every rock in the glass bowl to see which one I wanted (they were large crystals). I was there for about 5 minutes and the lady with the long white hair pretends to be straightening out items in the next bookcase. Then she proceeds to watch like a hawk as I walk around the perimeter of the store. Nevermind that I'm carrying a $400 purse, thousands of dollars on my fingers,$200 shoes and that I'm middle-aged.. and having to get the stock number for each rock is absolutely ridiculous. Also, their prices are a more then...
