Went there on a Saturday night around 6:30. Place was about 3/4 full and definitely busy. Got sat right away. Server came over and took our drink order and said they would grab us water. Returned with our cocktails and still no water. Took our appetizer order and still no water. Also took our menus after our appetizer order prior to us ordering our meal. They came back with the appetizers and still no water, we had to ask one of the food runners for water who then finally came back with some. For appetizers we got the Spinach and artichoke Rangoon, the chicken wings, and the burrata. You could instantly tell the appetizers were sitting too long, 3/3 all cold or room temp, the bread served with the burrata comes in the sauce and was soggy and falling apart. We finished what we could which was mostly the wings and Rangoon's. And sat there waiting for the server to come take our dinner order. They came back and cleared the apps and asked if we wanted another cocktail for which we said no thank you and they walked away with the dirty plates, we assumed they would come back to take our order once their hands weren't full. Once they returned to the table they had the check in hand and placed it on the table. We didn’t complain about the apps or that we didn’t get our dinner and with it being almost 90 minutes for 2 cocktails and 3 appetizers we decided we’d just leave and pick something up on the way home. The staff was very friendly and nice but just seemed overwhelmed and the entire place seemed understaffed. The atmosphere is pretty nice so we were hoping for a better evening. The entire bill was around $84 before tip, which at that price we just expected the food to at least be served hot and not with soggy bread. I’m not sure if it was just an off night or if they are having staffing issues but I don’t think we will be returning. Again, the staff is very friendly and the restaurant atmosphere very cool so maybe you’ll have a better experience...
Read moreUPDATED REVIEW (9/28/2020): Visited Longcross on Sunday evening for some outdoor dining. Seems like the COVID protocols and general service were good outside, thought some outdoor tables seemed really close to one another with not much space to pass between.
The good: The German Oktoberfest beers were very good, they had a great selection of these. My husband loved his Nashville Hot Chicken Mac and Cheese. The service was good - the waitress even brought our pup his own bowl of water!
The bad: The "Detroit Deep Dish Pizza" I received (pic attached). The fact that multiple people at this establishment thought that this was something that should be put in front of a customer is appalling to me. I previously reviewed Longcross as 5 stars (pictures of the pizza I received that time are still attached to this review), but the food I received this time paints a completely different picture.
It seems like this "pizza" is simply some pieces of focaccia bread that they put a few toppings on and cook for a (clearly) short amount of time. There were pepperonis under the cheese that were not cooked at all. This is clearly not fresh dough that's cooked in a pan - there's no way the cheese would melt down the sides if this was cooked in a pan.
Utterly disappointed in this place. Don't think the beer selection is enough to return - there are plenty of places with great beer selections.
PREVIOUS REVIEW (1/11/2020): This place is awesome. The food menu was legit (so many things I want to try), the beer list is one of the best in the area, and the staff were all amazing, given how new it was. This place was running so well! We did notice a dude in a green polo (must have been the manager/owner, on Sat, 1/11) getting short/angry with the bartenders for seemingly no reason (honestly amazing bartenders) which put a bad taste in my mouth. For now I'll amount it to those "new restaurant" pains. But don't do that in front of...
Read moreI made a quick stop, approx 45 minutes before closing, Monday the 28th April. Usually servers an bartenders are looking to close shop an get out, which was the case at the AC Morth hotel, but I digress. As soon as we walked in, the bartender ( forget her name but receipt says pm bar 1 an 2), greeted with a smile, gave menus asking immediately what our preference for drink was. This is ol school and refreshing from a consumer standpoint. They have a great selection of Bourbons, too many to list, as well as beers. My guest was unsure of which beer, she graciously offered suggestions with samples. I ordered the chicken wings, which were good. The Nashville cooked were slightly dry but tasty. In the end we were never ever rushed, she kept offering her services. Great atmosphere, sport tvs, very clean and awesome workers there. Great selections of drinks an food, it's a cant miss. Highly recommend. UPDATE: 2nd return, staff is unbelievably friendly, a rare experience to see staff interacting, laughing enjoying their job, all while taking care of you. I ordered their chili which was possibly the best Ive had yet. The cup portioned literally satisfied my appetite. This contains more meats, along with cheese and spices, satisfies...
