I came into the restaurant today to have lunch with a friend right after 2p.m. Upon entering the restaurant B.B. greeted us while she was talking on the phone. We asked to sit at a booth and she told us we could sit at whichever booth we wanted. We sat down and were not given menus. B.B. continued her phone conversation while we waited. After several minutes of not getting menus, I got up and had to ask her for some. She then came to the table and asked what we were having to drink. She immediately brought the drinks and asked if we were ready to order. We had just received the menus and had not had a chance to look over it so we told her no. We decided what we wanted and again waited several minutes. B.B. was no where in sight. My friend got the attention of the bartender and asked where our server was. The bartender was very kind. She said she didn't know where our server was but would go ahead and take our order. After she got our order is when B.B came. The food took a minute to arrive but when it did my food was amazing! I had the chicken and shrimp pasta. We had somewhere to be so with the lack of service already received we went ahead and asked for the check half way through our meal so we wouldn't be waiting a long time when we were ready to leave. I normally do leave bad reviews but I felt the need to reach out and let you know my experience. I also still rated you 5 stars because I know how much ratings mean to a restaurant. I work in the restaurant business. I just find the service I received as unexeptable. People go out to eat for the experience, not just the food. While the food was great, my experience was no where close. Even though I tipped %18 her service did not deserve it. I normally tip a minimum of $10. My ticket was only $20 and some change. Servers get paid off tips so I don't understand why B.B.s phone conversation was more important than her customers who pay her. STAY OFF YOUR PHONE B.B. AND TEND TO YOUR TABLES ESPECIALLY IF ITS...
Read moreSo, where to begin. Been sitting here for over 30 minutes. Waitress is nice, service is slow. Food we ordered, well they were out of... Rib eye, broccoli, biscuits pork tenderloins too. Oh hey we got an order of garlic bread. Literally, 1 piece of bread.. Might cost an additional $1 a piece of bread, seriously (nope $2 a slice) .. Garden salad, looks ok, third choice... Tiny side dressing not large enough for salad. Smoked bourbon old fashion, too sweet, not enough smoke. The explanation of being out of some of the items, they get busy when the Grizzlies play. Don't they play 41 home games plus about half of their playoff games at home? It's not like this restaurant opened this week. Being a diamond member of Hilton going on 7 or 8 years, really disappointed with the association. Well, we got a slice of tomato in the salad, a 1" round, 1/16" thick to of a cherry tomato. 99% lettuce, a couple of onions,. Will be contacting Hilton about this too. Did I mention very disappointed... Oh, this gets better, we got charged $7 for 4 pieces of garlic bread smaller than the frozen garlic toast in the store. Oh, and the grizzlies game, started 5 minutes ago AND its in California, so not even local. I don't completely blame the waitress, but management really screwed the pooch. I hate writing reviews like this , but this is one time I just didn't. Get it... Yes, I typed this as a play by play. However, chicken and waffles, were tasty. TK, if you read this, ball dropped, badly. Want even looking for a comped meal, but seriously, charge us for garlic bread? Last update, had a nice chat with TK. Explained the situation, she explained all of the issues, I expected, not enough staff, food deliveries late, basically no one wants to work anymore, and I get it. Wish I was told all this before hand... Versus, well,...
Read moreVery nice restaurant inside Double Tree Hotel. The food was delicious..my cocktail of choice (Josh's Jam) was refreshingly tipsy 🤪. The zest from the orange peel garnish added a pretty ✨🍹Our server Katie was very nice and accompanied us with her jamming playlist to eat to. Ask for Katie if you go around early noon😊. I ordered chicken n waffles which came with a side of fresh fruit, I chose watermelon. I added scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese and a bowl of grits with cheddar. All of it, was scrumdilyumptous😋😋. My husband had catfish. It comes with 2 sides and marinated tomatoes. He was iffy of the tomatoes at first, but ended up slurping up the marinade after he finished the fish 😋. He chose root beer to drink. Y'all, even the ice is good 😆😆😄. They got those lil nugget ice, so your drink doesn't water as fast. Nice 👌🏾😊. We parked on the street at a nearby meter. I think we ended up needing about a little over an hour, about $1.70. The hotel is conveniently connected to the restaurant so if u thinking about staying, you don't have far to go to eat n drink. There's an advertisement on their window saying they have live music as well, (maybe on weekends). I'm gonna definitely be checking King & Union Bar Grocery out again really soon. Oh, I dunno about the "grocery" part of their title. I didn't see a grocery, but then again,I didn't really look either 🤷🏾♀️. Y'all go check em out n I'll see y'all...
