Reading over the other reviews where people decided to take pics of their food after it was 75% or more eaten, obviously makes it look far less appealing, then they complain in their reviews. Some others seem like they have a personal agenda. We don’t live here, we stayed a couple days at the Best Western and ate at several places, including Peggy Sue’s. The atmosphere isn’t bad, it’s a decent attempt at a 50’s diner theme. Yes, none of the servers or employees on the floor were wearing any kind of 50’s uniforms or attire. But we didn’t go in for that. There was 50’s music lightly playing. We ordered a chicken wedge salad with avocado, artichoke and ranch dressing. Also a turkey, bacon avocado sandwich with side salad and ranch. The menu said choice of bread but I didn’t specify and they didn’t ask, it came on white. Also a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. Everything was pretty fresh and tasty. The wedge maybe could’ve used a little more chicken and avocado, but it is a lot of iceberg lettuce going into a wedge. Iced tea was good and the staff were attentive. The prices, maybe a little on the higher side as to other places we’ve eaten locally or regionally for overall value for the buck. But if your looking to save money or on a strict budget, don’t eat out. My meal was $14.99 and the wedge salad was $15.99. The mashers were $3.99, that might give you an idea. If we’re in Mesquite again, we’d visit Peggy Sue’s for another meal. We saw lots of cars there this am for breakfast, and this evening they were fairly full; so there doing something right.

Placed an order for pickup, they asked for my phone number and stated it would be ready in 30 minutes. Chicken and waffles Grilled cheese/ tots Malt Showed up 30 minutes later and they stated they were out of chicken. I asked why they didn’t call me, considering they asked for my phone number. She just said: sorry I said we would just take just the waffle and asked if my grilled cheese was already made, she said yes. I asked if my food will be cold and the waffle will be hot? She again said yes, The customer service was actually shocking. Why wouldn’t you remake the cold food or offer to remove the cost of the malt? I then asked if she already made the malt and if that was melted. She said no 20 minutes later I walk out with my cold meal and get home to find the most crusty tots cooked in old oil I have ever seen. The waffle had zero sweetness, it was salty and tasted like a loaf of bread. This place smells dirty, the appearance is scattered and looks like an after thought. I paid $35 for a grilled cheese, single waffle and malt and it was all a disappointment. With such few options in a small town, you would think that an establishment would go the extra mile or at least meet the bare minimum to keep customers. But as you can see from the other reviews, this place is not it.

I was really excited to try this place out despite seeing the mixed reviews. I figured we’d give it a fair shot. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a huge disappointment. All three of us ordered burgers, and as someone who eats hamburgers at least four times a week, I can honestly say I’ve never had one this bad. The bun and the patty were both incredibly dry and completely flavorless, not even a second go of the ketchup could save this burger. About 20 minutes after our food arrived, the waitress came by and asked, “How is everything?” I replied honestly, “This burger is terrible.” She didn’t offer to fix it or even acknowledge the issue; instead, she brought the bill with no adjustments. Fine, whatever. We went to pay up front, where the manager was handling the register. He asked, “How was everything?” I told him, “The burger was terrible.” He looked at me, swiped my card, and handed me the receipt—no apology, no attempt to make it right, nothing. They had two clear opportunities to correct the issue or at least acknowledge it, but instead, we were met with indifference. This place has a cool concept, but it’s terribly executed. I won’t be coming back.

The only reason I'm not putting 5 stars is because it's been a little hit and miss for me. The first time I went with my mom and grandpa. We had just been out all day and needed some fuel to keep going. My mom ordered chili cheese fries with her food which were amazing, not extravagant, not underwhelming, simple and comforting. She actually ordered chili ans cheese on her side of fries and they didn't charge us for that. My grandpa ordered one of the best chocolate shakes I had ever tried (they gave him a cup with shake mix in it as well so he had more than enough) and on top of that I ordered the Santa Fe chicken sandwich. I also ordered a cup of coffee with cream and sugar. Me and my mom filled up on chili cheese fries and took our food home. And I heated the sandwich in my airfryer. Now here's the thing is after I got my cup of coffee I drank it by the time my waitress came back and she asked if I would like more so I said yes. After this she would serve other tables which was understandable, but then when she didn't have anyone to serve she walked around the restaurant asking people about their food and doing the typical "is everything all good here?" And then wouldn't come back and another waitress ended up serving us the rest of the time. Well when the other waitress came back I asked for my cup of coffee and she said yes and apologized and I told her it was no problem. Well she came back, with boxes and the check, so I again asked for my cup of coffee and she again apologized and said she would bring it. Well by the time we paid the check and were getting ready to leave she suddenly came out with the cup of coffee I had been asked about and accepted at the beginning of our meal. It was a little frustrating, but i didn't really mind. Overall was a 4 star experience as the food was good and they were nice, but the service was a little off in my opinion. But still good service. Then my mom and grandpa went and when they had gotten back she told me that it wasn't good, I can't exactly remember what she ordered but she said it was cold, the waitress never really checked on them much to get refills and make sure they didn't want anything else and even my grandpa who usually doesn't care as long as he gets his food admitted the service was a bit lousy that day. From what they said I would probably say 3 stars. Now we went back recently and the waitress was absolutely amazing. She was nice, she was constantly coming over and checking on us. The food was amazing. I highly recommend their HUGE hot wing wrap as it also comes with a hearty helping of their delicious fries, the shake was velvety and rich with a very chocolatey taste that tasted like they had put somehow Condensed 4 Hershey bars into a milkshake, amazing wasn't even the word this shake hit THE spot. My chicken was crispy and I got potato salad with it and it came with a little spring salad, the potato salad is good, though I recommend adding in pepper and mustard, also the hotwing wrap with mustard could not described as anything but FIRE and i now know what I will be getting. The waitress was amazing and we were never without drinks and their Pepsi and Root Beer was fresh and crisp. So our last experience would be 5 stars, maybe even 6 to be honest. Overall it can be a little hit and miss, but me personally, I have never had a really bad experience here. It's a nice 50's style diner with a couple cool jukeboxes in the lobby, and Elvis posters lining the walls among other legends. The atmosphere is comforting and had a nostalgic feel even to me who wasn't around during that time period. The tables were clean and they have a little rack of jams, jellies, preserves, and marmalade on the table and they serve pretty much any comfort food from French dips, to pancakes, to wraps, to salads. Peggy Sues is definitely a must try if you want a quick bite to eat on a...

I went here with my son and his girlfriend after a high school track meet. We're from Vegas, and when we saw there was a "Peggy Sue's" we instantly decided to go there based on our dozens of amazing visits to the one in California. Unfortunately, this one is the same in name only. We did get greeted & seated promptly, & the waitress was fairly quick about getting our orders even though it was busy. Everything seemed clean & organized. After placing our orders that was pretty much the end of having anything positive to say. Probably close to 45 minutes after we'd placed our order and still didn't have our food (by this time it wasn't busy) the waitress finally noticed us trying to get her attention and came over apologizing for the wait. Apparently the kitchen was overwhelmed with bar orders. 10-15 minutes later we finally got our food. I had the French Dip with brown gravy for the fries. The beef on the French dip was severely overcooked and dry. There was literally crunchy parts, it was almost black, and the meat crumbled. The au jus to dip it in was soooo salty it overpowered everything. And the gravy for the fries.... I've never heard of beer gravy but I swear it tasted like beer. The fries themselves were just standard run of the mill fries. Nothing to complain about, nothing to brag about. (Except after I'd smothered them in gravy they were basically inedible because the gravy was so bad. My son had the Reuben. The meat wasn't spread out on the sandwich, so while his first bite or 2 he thought it was great, the rest was basically 90% sauerkraut that hadn't been drained enough making the bread soggy. His girlfriend had a chicken sandwich which was the only ok thing that came to our table. Before we'd even finished the waitress was at the table asking if we needed take out boxes and giving us the bill. That was the last time we saw her. She never came back to see if we needed drink refills (we obviously did), or wanted dessert (the kids did but we couldn't find her). Now for ambiance.... it's "ok" but definitely not "Peggy Sue's" worthy. No music, neon by cash around the ceiling not working, well worn red vinyl booth seats that could definitely use some repairs, bright lights, bright colors. A too modern imitation. All in all it was a complete disappointment and I won't...

I came to Mesquite to visit my family whom I have not seen in over a year. We sat and ordered water which came out quick, we ordered our food and my Moms waffle came out cold to where the butter would not melt, they forgot her side of ham as well.while we were eating my water ran out. I did not see our waitress again so 10 min goes by and this lady name Terry came and started bussing the table next to us. I waited another min or two before saying excuse me could I get some more water plz because at this point I can’t even eat anymore of my plate due to not having anything to wash it down, she turns and looks at me and with an attitude says it’s going to be a minute sir. So I gave a look of shock to my mom and sat back as she started slamming dishes onto the table while mumbling thing under her breath. I sat quiet for another min or two while she started to bus another table next to that one. I realized I was not getting anything to drink Anytime soon and my food is cold at this point so I said, in a calm voice to disregard the water I would just like my check, and when I said that she tuned around and yelled get this guy his check plz then proceeded to talk disrespectful to my 70 Year old mother and me. When my mom asked for a manager Terry said yeah there’s not one here good luck he won’t even come in and fix our computer and then proceeded to continue talking negative to us, about her manager, and Peggy Sue’s. So I was given my bill finally after more abuse and only had a few bites off each plate and was still charged for our un-eaten meals, as well as the WORST. service I’ve ever received in my entire life of eating out places. The cashier said that this is not her first time treating someone this way. I know good help is hard to find these days but to Have that kind of help In your business I would think Would be more damaging. I will never return here again, and I would recommend until they find a happier staff and make some serious changes not to go in There with your friends or family. I am just thankful my kids were not with me to see and hear the things she was saying to us. Peggy Sue’s and Terry you should be ashamed to carry that classic name on...
