I am in awe. Today was a special day at Kush because I brought my mother. I was telling her about how much I love this place and how they have an awesome burger with guava in it. (frita)
we were the first ones to show up today and were followed by a couple more parties. after about 30 minutes of waiting our server Dannielle informed us that our food was taking longer than usual. I didnt really notice until she brought it up. I looked around and saw that everyone that showed up after us was already eating, but life.
After about 5 more minutes a manager walks up to us to also let us know that the food was taking longer than planned. Since I myself work in food and beverage I told him its no big deal things like this happen.
THE FOOD SHOWS UP the burgers looked good but to my misfortune. My burger was overcooked. We had waited and now my favorite burger was overcooked 🤨🤨🤨. On top of that I was going to be splitting half and half burgers with my mom, so all the hype I created around the (frita) was immediately affected by the temperature.
As I was reluctantly starting to eat my burger, our server Dannielle walked up to me to check on us. I showed her my burger and said in the nicest way possible. "my burger was sent in medium and this is obviously overcooked" she agreed all while immediately informing her GM.
THE MANAGER Hats off to our server Dannielle for being clean cut about her service; Huge shoutout to her GM. After he inspected my concern, he also agreed it was overcooked and that both my mother and I waited long enough to get an order that was not to standard.
In order to please us he said he'd send for another burger. I was already eating it so i told him not to. Regardless of him insisting, i said no.
THE RESULT The GM exhausted all options to get me another burger. He looks at my mom and offers us dessert on the house for our troubles.
My mom got a key lime pie (amazing)
And then we asked for the check.
Apparently the GM went as far as comping the Burger and the dessert off our tab.
WOW. This is what I call HOSPITALITY and AMAZING RECOVERY.
The GM did what he could do and it was more than enough for me to feel like we were special guests to them.
Things happen all the time from my experience in the field. Im a bartender and have been in Dannielles shoes, so I didnt give her a hard time because THE KITCHEN IS THE KITCHEN THE SERVER IS THE SERVER.
Even though they both represent the establishment. Does not mean she had to missout because of the Kitchen's mistake.
All in all 5 stars for great service 10 stars for the recovery. Will definitely bring mom back for...
Read moreI went here on a Thursday night. You will have to find parking here which might be a bit tricky if you don't know the place. First, make sure you download the PayByPhone app so that you can pay for your parking. Secondly, You will have to park North of the restaurant because you won't find parking South of the Restaurant. There are some side streets where you will find parking and you'll also have to beware of the No Parking signs.
I was greeted warmly and exceptionally. I don't remember the names of the waitresses but they were great. The wait to be sat down was none and the waitress was ready for me a little after I had sat down. Before I sat down, there was a bit of water spilled on the table and I told the waitress not to worry, that it was fine, that I could just sit there. She insisted on wiping down the table, which she did. Also, since I was on Keto they offered to use lettuce wraps instead of hamburger buns without me even asking. They did the best to get the nutrition facts for the burgers as well but unfortunately they didn't have these.
I sat outside on the bench tables and watched people walk and cars pass by which wasn't too bad. I also got to enjoy a bit of the Wynwood feel by sitting outside. If you're not down with traffic noise then I suggest you sit inside because there's a lot of that when you sit outside. However, I really enjoyed the fresh air and the occasional people walking by. Also the music inside is a bit too loud for my taste. The music they were playing outside however was perfect. The inside of the restaurant is also nice, I like the decoration and it has a warm feel to it. Sort of like you're in a medieval tavern from Game of Thrones.
To go on, I picked the Frita Burger. It was like a 15 minute wait before the food got there. Not a long wait. The Frita burger was absolutely magnificent and so were the fries. The burger had Guava Jelly which gave it a sweet taste like no other. The fries were great too. That burger was cooked to perfection. They have a huge selection of craft beer which is freaking awesome. I'm not a big drinker, specially during the weekdays so I had the Kambucha which was great if you like it, I had never tried it before. There was no Diet Coke or sugar free Red Bull or I would have taken that. There is however regular Red Bull.
Once you're done with your food then I suggest you take a walk by heading North on North Miami Ave. because there's a lot to look at. You will find a lot of beautiful art on the walls and shops which might catch your attention.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy it as...
Read moreFunky, cool, cozy place located in Wynwood. An area we hardly ever frequent, but I'm glad we ventured out. The bricked interior makes for a cool and creative decor. Our first time at Kush and it was a hit! Didn't surprise me since their sister restaurants, Lokal and The Spillover, are just as amazing. Kush came highly recommended, plus it had been on my bookmark for a while now.
We came on a Tuesday for lunch to celebrate my birthday, parking was a breeze on the street and paid using the PaybyPhone App.
We were greeted with a warm welcome and sat us down immediately. Ana-Monet was our server and boy was she friendly, personable, attentive and very knowledgeable. For me, this part of customer service speaks louder than words. And although she was visibly busy with other tables, she was able to multi-task and give us her undivided attention. And with the help of Larissa, our beers and food were just flowing. Larissa was very sweet, attentive and helpful.
Chris, the manager was just as amazing and seemed very passionate about his job and had a sense of pride.
What we loved, ate and drank:
Knee Deep IPA 16oz - $8 Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout 12oz - $13 Finback Two Regimes 12oz - $14
Homestead Guacamole - avocados mixed with chopped onions, red pepper, cilantro, and pickled relish with lime served with homemade salsa and warm tortilla chips ~ $11
Florida Alligator Bites - fresh local alligator from Cypress Creek Farms in Starke, Fl. Fried and seasoned with Old Bay, served with creamy garlic and spicy mayo ~ $13
Kush and Hash - a 4 oz burger with hash, (NO bacon), fried egg, American cheese, and homemade ketchup, served on a waffle bun with maple syrup ~ $15

Vegan Sweet Potato Ice Cream by Dasher & Crank (who btw happens to be a few blocks down the street, 2211 NW 2nd Ave) ~ $7
They have Vegan and Gluten Free Options.
I believe the reason why Kush, Lokal and The Spillover do so well is because of the culture of the company. You can tell because employee morale is high, turnover rate is low, their front-of-house staff is well trained, and in turn it is what keeps customers happy and coming...
