This review is long overdue and I've been slacking. I cannot gush about this place enough! I heard about maman opening up before it was actually opened. Stoked about it because it's originally a NYC spot. And we all know NYC has some of the best eats!!!
Went during first week after it opened in Feb 2024 because coincidentally I was in Wynwood for something else. Had to stop in to snag some coffee and their Dark Chocolate Orange Cubed Croissant. Absolute heaven. The cubed croissant was perfectly layered and fun to eat. The filling was just the right hint of sweetness without being overly indulgent.
The ambiance is everything. I walked in and was immediately transported to a cute French cafe. The decor is heavenly. They thought of every little detail from the space, furniture, lighting, dishware, glassware, wallpaper and presentation on every level. It's super charming. I loved it so much I had planned a girls brunch the following month in March. We couldn't wait!
Brunch day came and my girlfriends fell in love with the space just as much as I did. They don't take reservations, first come first serve. So we arrived on a Sat morning as soon as they opened and were seated right away. Had a bit of everything. We had a variety of cocktails, because brunch. Sangria Tropicale was yummy. The Everything Croissant & Salmon Sandwich and Eggs Ratatouille is so damn good. My girls enjoyed the Croque maman but it was too much for me, too much cheese and way too rich.
We noticed our server wasn't dressed like the rest of the staff so we asked him about it. Turns out our server was also the owner, Ben. That says everything about the owner that they are willing to jump out there and help their team and do the work. Ben was awesome! He was incredibly kind and so very humble. He told us that he moved to South Florida from NYC and planned on opening several other maman locations. I love everything about maman so I'm so happy for their success! We had a lovely brunch experience and I would highly recommend. We even got a selfie with Ben. Such a cool guy! Thanks for the hospitality Ben. Sorry for this super late review. Lol.
I was at maman this past weekend after the South Florida Seafood Festival. I told hubby since we were in the area, we had to stop by maman which was right around the corner. Literally made it there 10 minutes before closing and Yann was kind enough to accommodate my order for coffee and pastries, whatever was left. Haha. We got a Honey Lavender Latte, Espresso d'Orange, Kouign maman and Banana Walnut Bread. The Kouign maman is KING!!! I am obsessed with peeling the layers like a sideways fruit roll up. The flavor and caramelization was absolute perfection. Dare I say it's even better than Dominque Ansel's Kouign Amann which is the first time I ever had this pastry. OH EM GEEEEE!!! Don't skip on this. Next time I will stock up. Lol. Banana Walnut Bread was just ok, quite dry and not very moist as I had hoped.
Bonus: maman uses the InKind app. I got a $10 off $20 discount using my app. SCORE!!!
Everything I've had at maman:

Read moreMy first experience was a to-go order- I got a breakfast bowl, which was delicious, and I was really excited about a cute new spot in Wynwood.
The second experience, however, left a lot to be desired. I ordered a latte through DoorDash because I was tight on time getting to work. When I arrived and was waiting for it, the gentleman who seemed to be the manager came out and asked what I was waiting for b/c they didn’t have any pending orders. We realized I had accidentally sent the order to their Midtown location.
I completely own that mistake, but I was a bit surprised he wouldn’t just make the latte. He told me I’d need to get in line, re-order, and pay again, and then request a refund through DoorDash. Since I didn’t have time to wait in line before work, I left. I called the Midtown location to ask if they’d already made the latte and if it could be canceled. The person I spoke with, Alex, said it had already been made so he couldn’t cancel it, but he seemed surprised the Wynwood location didn’t just make one for me. He kindly offered to take care of it if I stopped by either location and asked for him.
Fast forward to this morning… I went back to the Wynwood location, explained the situation kindly to the cashier (who was very pleasant), and mentioned Alex. When she asked the manager (same man as before) how to enter it in, he seemed visibly annoyed but reluctantly agreed to make the coffee. As I was receiving the drink, he made a point to come over and tell me this was a one time exception and that next time they wouldn’t do it again. He also made a comment about how he wasn’t making any money off the latte.
It was just a latte and I honestly felt like I was being scolded over an innocent mistake.
I know it might sound petty to write a review over a $7 drink, and again, I acknowledge I sent the order to the wrong location. But a little grace and basic kindness go a long way, especially in a neighborhood with so many great options/competitors. After this experience, I’ll be sticking with other places (Zak the Baker, Rodilla, Miam,...
Read moreI recently went to visit for the first time since I heard they were now in Miami, was really excited but unfortunately my experience wasn’t good at all. As we entered we loved the details and decided to take a quick video for the blog, mainly about the space and how beautiful and inviting it look. Recording mainly ourselves and some backgrounds when the cashier, a lady, rudely told me to stop recording because it was rude to record without her permission. I clarified that I was just showing the place and I was not using her for my video, she continued to add that it was rude and permission was needed in a very loud tone. She was taking care of another and she stopped completely to let us know her request. Keep in mind we were still looking at menus and waiting in line to be attended. Sadly, she made us feel so uncomfortable that we decided not to stay and tryout the food, we only grabbed coffee and left. I work in the food industry and I am a General manager of a similar place and let me tell that this it’s not welcoming. I often see my guest taking pics and videos of the place and I know I can’t be upset if I come out in the background it’s part of the job, unless they are just recording myself than a comment should be made in a well manner but the treatment i received was just very disappointing. If not pics or videos are allowed how else do we get our guest to review the place? I hope this doesn’t happened to others because it’s a beautiful place but not feeling welcomed will definitely turn some customers around. I can’t comment on food or anything because like I mentioned here and the blog, the cashier was not...
