Read moreMy sister (@shiondafarrelll on all social media platforms) sent me a video of this spot when I told her I was going to Miami for a quick trip. When I saw the video I knew I had to check it out.
We landed around 7am which meant this coffee shop was our first stop. It's hard to miss this spot given that it is literally an airplane! We were able to park on the street. The street parking does require payment via park mobile.
Walking up to this coffee shop is such a treat. The owner did not leave any detail out. There is an actual (although not functional ) metal detector, suitcases outside and you can actually board the plane! You can walk inside and take some pictures at a table set up inside the plane or order from inside. However, there is also an ordering counter from the outside.
I opted for the pistachio latte and the avocado toast my friend ordered a croissant, empanada and a strawberry smoothie. We were provided with a number for our table and instructed to sit where we like. Please note that the only seating available is outside.
The food and drinks came out in less than 10 minutes. Some of the services were dressed with captain hats as if they were pilots. They are committed to the theme!
My latte was great! I am not sure what syrups they use for flavors, but it’s one of the best pistachio flavored lattes I have had. The toast was good. However, I will point out that it appears they use an avocado spread or dip opposed to fresh avocados. My friend said her smoothie was the most amazing drink she has ever tasted. She said it tasted like they used fresh strawberries, and the whipped cream tasted home made. She said the croissant was good, but did not have to order the empanada again.
Overall I love this place! I think that this was such a unique idea. Let’s be honest, there are a million coffee shops. The owner came up with an idea to make this one stand...
Read moreIf you value reliability in a coffee shop, avoid. I planned a trip here, only to find that the entire cafe unexpectedly closed for the entire day.
And yes, while the owner's response is appreciated, it's not quite a resolution. I follow this shop's social media ("on the networks") and did not see any posts about this closing. As I stood in front of their closed sign, I looked again at their Instagram. Their Instagram stories, which disappear after 24 hours, showed about 10 photos and videos. The first eight stories showed photos and videos of other customers eating and drinking.
Don't bury radical changes in operating hours in the ninth story on Instagram.
Most people aren't going to click more than eight or nine times on stories, because if the first eight stories are all lifestyle photos, then people will assume the ninth will be the same.
The sign at the plane said that due to "unforseeable turbulence," they are closed. This is the first time I'd seen anything prominent of the cafe's closing.
Next time the cafe does this, they need to post updates in a more prominent place (at least Instagram posts and in the bio, and ideally on Google and Yelp, where people often search), and not in the stories.
Would love to support a small business and went out of my way to do so, but more communication would go a long way to keep a...
