I've been to 2 other Feng/Genza locations and this by far was the worst. My husband and I arrived to eat dinner before a movie next door. We asked to be seated for Hibachi but they were booked for the next few hours so we decided to sit at the bar instead. We ordered a couple of drinks and asked if we could get the Hibachi dinner at the bar, the bartender said "yes" and handed us the menu. The service was fine, nothing to complain about, sushi appetizers were what we expected...until we got our meals. Our completely UNSEASONED, tastes like PAPER meals. Between our meals the chicken, salmon, scallops and noodles all tasted horrible. It was so poorly seasoned the bartender immediately asked if everything was ok ( I could not hide my facial expression). I informed her of the problem and she immediately responded with, "Well, I know they're not going to give you a refund so I don't know what you want me to do." And walked away. I was completely taken a back by her unprofessional response. I immediately went to the hostess, and asked to speak to the manager. 10 minutes later, the manager approached us on the other side of the bar, and asked what the problem was. After I told him the issue, he explained that hibachi at the bar and the "real hibachi" are different, and will never taste the same, They were doing us a favor by letting us order at the bar, and they weren't going to issue a refund for our untouched meals. I was surprised by this and asked him to come over to the other side of the bar to speak with me, more privately, so that we would not be raising our voices in an effort to hear one another all while interrupting patrons meals around us....he refused. So after several minutes of arguing back and forth, and other customers complaining about the level of our discussion, he finally came to our side of the bar, and again refused to give a refund. He even admitted to this happening before, and that it didn't taste the same. Eventually I wore him down and he gave us 50% off. The whole ordeal took 30 minutes! The problem with this place is the management and poor customer service. If you KNOW my food tastes horrible, why even bother to serve it to me? If you know this happens often, why not just restrict hibachi orders to the dining area? And why waste both of our times, when you knew the customer has EVERY reason to be disappointed in her meal. It was unbelievable and I...
Read moreA group of 6 of us went for hibachi at 6pm. We were immediately told we would not be seated until 8pm due to reservations (our mistake, we probably should have made a reservation, since it was a Friday night). The hostess said we could sit at a table and get hibachi, so we did. We were seated quickly and the server Jessica, was very nice. 5 of us ordered hibachi, and one ordered sushi. All of our food was cold, NOT seasoned, tasted bland and disgusting. The sushi was also bland and not seasoned. The entire meal we all complained to each other about how gross the food was and we were upset we didn’t go to our usual hibachi grill, Kyoto in Worcester. When we got our checks, they all had 18% gratuity added and asked for additional tip. 2 of us crossed out the added gratuity and added 0 tip. Jessica came back over and said she had to charge the 18%, and asked if it was her service. We all exclaimed no, her service was excellent, she consistently checked on us. The food was just disgusting so she brought over the manager. When he came over, we explained what was said above. He informed us that they do not normally serve hibachi at tables because in the kitchen there is only one grill so they can only cook 3 hibachi meals at a time, which is why the food was cold. I suggested maybe they shouldn’t have sat us down for hibachi then if they knew our food would come out cold. He then asked if the server did not tell us the food may be cold when we sat down because of the small grill. She did not. He left for a few minutes, until Jessica came back and told us he would be giving us 2 gift cards for hibachi. He came over with the gift cards and I said we do not want those, that is not helpful we will never ever come back here again. Also how does 2 gift cards help 6 people? I said if that’s all he can do for us I’ll take the gift cards and give them to the people next to us. Jessica came back with new checks for the 2 of us that spoke up and complained with a discount. We then wrote in new tips just for her because the 18% was taken off along with more money. Our party still left upset that only 2 people were given the discount when we all had terrible food.
Needless to say we will NEVER be returning again, and this was our first time here; which is unfortunate for them because we all attend a nearby college and could have recommended it to all of...
