My partner and I went here a few weeks back for the first time, when we stumbled upon it, walking around the Third Ward. We loved the vibe and loved the beer even more. Overall we had a really lovely experience. So much so, that when we had friends come into town this past weekend, we wanted to bring them.
This time I wanted to try a little more variety and so when we came in, I decided to get a flight. The screen tells you that a flight of 4 beers is $14. As I’m looking at the beers and the bartender is beginning to pour my group's order, I noticed that the four beers that I ordered would come up to $13, if they were priced at the 5oz prices. I mention this to the bartender who begins to say, “Oh... but you wouldn’t have this flight board with names written on it.” This doesn’t really make sense, considering they aren’t charging a dollar for every flight board, it is just is a dollar more for the beers I ordered. Depending on your order you may pay $2 more or up to $2 less than the 5 oz pours prices. A little annoyed by her response, I responded with “Well, I would rather just have the 5 oz pours then.” She finishes up the order, and my friend pays for our group and I noticed, even after this comment that she charges us the $14. The whole situation rubbed me the wrong way, and although the beer is lovely, I don’t know if I will be bringing friends back here.
I’d suggest having flight prices equal the amount of the 5 oz beers you select, so you don’t have this issue with overcharging customers, even after they bring it to...
Read moreHeaded up to Milwaukee for a Festival my Foo Fighters we’re playing. And of course we had to grab a local pint before the show! Wizard Works was a wise choice! The ambiance is super cool. You head into the basement of an old building with brick and dark wood. Exactly what you’d expect from a Harry Potter style pub. Speaking of which, they had a Harry Potter film playing on one of their many tv’s. My wife decided on Wizard’s Wrath, which is an English Strong Ale and I grabbed a pint of Smoke and Mirrors, which is a hazy New England IPA. Both were great beers! My son was with us and they had nonalcoholic root beer and “I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butterbeer”. Now being locals to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios we are well versed in Butterbeer and my son said they did a great job of mimicking it. We wanted to order more but we were running out of time and had to grab some lunch before the festivities started. Next time we are around here we will be back! If you’re in Milwaukee and enjoy good beer with a great ambiance, and like Harry Potter at all, you need to give this place a...
Read moreThis sour ale was so tasty. I had two of them and enjoyed every sip. It was our first time and the bartender was so awesome…she gave us tastes of quite a few beers to help us figure out what we wanted to try and then we gave her dealers choice on a flight and she did not disappoint! We also met “the wizard” himself and he was so fun and showed us a few magic tricks that just made the whole experience a good time. I would definitely recommend this place and even if you don’t want a whole pint of the sour caramel apple ale, you should at least get it as one of your 4 flight options bc it’s just a really fun drink. Also there’s street parking available where you can find it but there is a whole street of metered parking that takes quarters and apparently credit card, so there are parking options nearby that you can hopefully snag if its...
