Updating my review: I appreciate Tyler's response mentioned below. I initially held off on replying as my review was aimed to bring attention to Cafe Benelux to help improve future customer experiences, not to seek compensation. On May 28th, I did phone Tyler using the number he provided and left a message. Unfortunately, I haven't heard back from him, which sadly reinforces the poor customer service and lack of attention from management. Something needs to change!
Initial Review: My recent visit to Cafe Benelux turned into a disheartening experience primarily due to the abysmal service provided by our server, Cassie K. What should have been a delightful afternoon, Mother's Day lunch, enjoying the restaurant's beautiful, newly remodeled atmosphere was quickly ruined as Cassie repeatedly ignored our table's needs. Throughout our lunch, Cassie avoided any eye contact with our table, passing by us multiple times without so much as a glance in our direction. This lack of acknowledgment extended to crucial aspects of service, such as refilling drinks and ensuring our orders were correct and timely. Despite our entrees eventually making their way to the table, the ordeal was far from over. My dish arrived incorrect, creating frustration as I couldn't locate Cassie for assistance. Even after this debacle, Cassie's sporadic check-ins left much to be desired, with her appearing only three times over the course of our hour and a half stay. The final insult came halfway through my meal, when Cassie finally decided to make her initial nquiry regarding our satisfaction. By then, any opportunity to salvage the dining experience had long passed. As regular patrons of Cafe Benelux, this disappointing display of service was a stark departure from our usual experiences. It's disheartening to see such a decline in quality, especially when compared to the attentive and personalized service we've come to expect from this establishment and received in the past. If Cafe Benelux hopes to retain loyal customers, they must address these glaring deficiencies in their service standards promptly. I appreciate your time along with communicating with Cassie in order that this behavior does not...
Read moreOn May 31st, I came to this Cafe with my whole family, including my sisters husbands family all the way from Italy. (This was talked out with by management who was the only kind person other than our actual server in this situation, by the way.) My sister was eating when she found the food sticker, fully intact and clearly made with the meal on a pepper that was part of her meal. She felt uncomfortable eating it, and kindly told our pleasant server. Apparently it was her first day so she handed the situation over to another girl. This is when things went really south, while explaining again the situation, my sisters husband adds in that he’s worked with food and this meant the vegetable was probably unwashed. The server rudely, without looking at him denied this. He then doubled down, as he knows what he’s talking about and she ignored him as if he wasn’t the paid customer. She sent a request to get it changed. First off, it didn’t arrive until very late in the stressful eating process, and several other things ordered just never arrived. My sisters husband, still clearly upset, is approached by our kind waitress who asked what happened and he explained the situation nearby. I could hear it, he was very respectful. While waiting another twenty minutes for his food the kind manager approached us. She asked about the situation, and we explained it to her. While explaining however looking around all the waiters were making faces at our table, especially me and my sister, like pointing to thier foreheads calling us stupid, doing the crazy hand gesture, peeking out of the corner to roll eyes at us. It was incredibly rude, and though management, the only slip up I noted, was right there nothing was done until my sister got very uncomfortable and had to tell them to stop as it was rude. Terrible experience other than two people. I am grateful it was paid for us, but please work on staff manors. It was thier last day in the US ever, and everyone was crying it uncomfortable after the situation for...
Read moreWe were here on 31AUG. When I say I’ve been coming to this location for years, it was my husband and I’s first date spot in 2013. I’m active duty Army but normally every time I’ve come home, I go here. It’s been my go to for all gatherings in Wisconsin with friends and family, and this is the first time I’ve been so disappointed. First I put it was my dad’s 60th birthday on the reservation and I get that nothing is guaranteed but we had the worst spot right by the stairs. It was so loud and it seems they didn’t even try to accommodate the roof at all (which is fine but I’ve never had a problem before when booking reservations.). After that, it took the waitress forever to even get drink orders and then another almost 20 min to even get drinks. We ordered food at around 1045ish and we didn’t get it until 1130. None of us said anything until later because it had taken so long and my kids were ready to go, but we all had the coldest food ever. It’s like it had sat out forever and I was pretty disgusted. The quality between 10 years ago and now, is like night and day. This used to be a premiere spot to get amazing, unique food options.
I had a salmon English muffin. The muffin wasn’t even toasted, it was dry and cold, the salmon was ok, and the rest of the ingredients were blah. So overpriced for that tiny amount. I felt bad that everyone spent so much money for bland, cold food. Then when we paid the check, the waitress stood so close to my dad’s back and watched him type it all in including a tip. It was very uncomfortable. Honestly after this, I do not think I’ll be back. Very disappointed at how much it...
