I have never been treated so badly by a host before. I bought a Groupon for dinner last night, my friend and I made a reservation and went to Kiku's around six (we were a little early). When we got there it was not busy. The hostess was taking us to our table, and I asked if we could possibly get a booth and pointed to one that was open on the way. She talked down to me and told me that they couldn't give us a booth because they have to "work around reservations" (although there was no reserved sign on the booth) so I was like "Ok that is fine" and did not challenge her whatsoever. We waited about 15 minutes before a very nice young man asked if we had been helped, when I said no he said he would go and get our server and apologized. Then the hostess came back over and asked us what we wanted to drink, I said that I would start with water, and she said "well obviously your meal comes with water" in a very snobby voice. Okay...... so I got the glass of wine that was included with the Groupon and my friend got an ice tea. Our waiter brought the drinks, who was very kind and did a great job with serving us. He did not bring the water that "obviously your meal comes with" and I asked if we could get two waters which he was more than willing to do. The food was good, I will not lie, especially for a Groupon (although I was afraid that the hostess probably spit in it). The kitchen staff was nice on the way out and thanked us but when I went by the hostess she gave me a dirty look and rolled her eyes. I honestly have no idea what I did to her but I know I will never eat here again. I have never been treated so poorly when I am eating out (and I eat out a lot without using Groupon)! And I have managed a restaurant before getting my degree and I would have never treated or allowed my staff to treat anyone in such a manner. Too bad because they do have a great Happy Hour Menu but I am not going to get treated like dirt. There are plenty of other good restaurants in the area and I will be finding one of...
Read moreThis place is almost worth two stars for how hilariously bad the experience was. We suspected we had made a mistake in our dining choice when we were handed a stained, dirty menu that stuck to our highly adhesive table. We used our napkins as placemats to avoid our elbows sticking and waited for our food. It was, in a word, disappointing. The fried rice would have been fine if it had been half the price and in a Chinese restaurant with 100 items on the menu. For $13, I expected a lot less grease. The sushi was not much better. The rice was stale and the fish had been mashed, which isn't necessarily bad, but it is disappointing that whole pieces of fish weren't available. And for a roll called "The Spicy Girl Roll," it was perplexingly not spicy. To be fair, the experience was highly amusing. We had a great time watching our waitress try to pry plates off the table and wondering if she was at all concerned or if all the tables are just that sticky. Tablecloths and new menus would be a great start, but then they would be left with food that is just...
Read moreFor years, this restaurant USED to be our favorite place to eat. Tonight the experience was absolutely HORRIBLE. The food tasted old, spoiled, mushy and greasy. The shrimp was not cleaned properly. We sent back 2 of the dishes. The manager returned with the food in his hands and was incredibly rude, pushing the dishes in our faces (I had to ask him to get the bowl out of my face) he was yelling and causing a scene. He proceeded to tell us that no one ever complains about the food. He left and returned still yelling, clapping his hands in our faces and told us to leave. The employees were so apologetic, but not the manager. I haven’t ever been verbally assaulted by anyone working in a restaurant before, and it was so bad I feel like others should know what happened. I would not eat here again. The manager was so out of line and I do not feel like the food is safe to eat.
I would give them no...
