I hate to write this review, as we specifically came here to celebrate our anniversary. We are not from Monterey, so we came here hoping to eat at Rosines. My wife and I absolutely LOVE Rosines for well over 20 years. We ate here for dinner on Friday. Perfect food and good service. We were happy. We paid $70 for 2 people. Then we came on Saturday morning, again great food and wonderful service! Spent $60 for 2. Came again on Saturday night, super crowded, but we waited and was seated within a half hour. Service was great and again dinner was fabulous! Spent $70 for 2. On Sunday morning, we decided to eat here again. SADLY, we were seated and NOT greeted for 15 minutes! Once we asked for someone, our waitress came over BUT was not nice. She rushed us to order as we had questions, she kept looking around, acting like she wasnāt listening! She took our order. About 20 minutes go by and we get our food. I got steak⦠very rare when i ordered well done. I was okay with it. My wifeās pork chops looked delicious but when she cut them, she noticed blood coming out of the bone part! Ewww! Pork with blood? Wth! We called over the waitress, she looked gave a disgusted look and said she will get a new one. Within 5 minutes she came back saying they RE PLATED the plate and bright back the same food. My wife then got a waiter who said he was the manager. This guy was RUDE! He looked at the plate and said āoh no thatās not blood, he started talking very scientific about how Rosines drains their meat and that is not blood. They would never serve meat with blood. We were dumbfounded! My wife explained she didnāt trust it wasnāt blood, saying she didnāt want to get sick. So this āmanagerā gets louder and laughed it off that she will not get sick with the blood. My wife of course told him not to be condescending and have some sympathy to fix the situation as tears canes to her face from embarrassment from that āmanagerā talking LOUD AND RUDE! He left her to āthinkā about what she wants to do??? He completely RUINED our last day of our anniversary. Finally I went up to him to explain all she wanted was a new plate with well done pork chops and eggs. We didnāt need to be ridiculed! He came to get the plate and brought a new one, but NEVER apologized for his arrogance and āIām better than youā attitude. At the end of our meal, our not caring waitress dropped off the check saying ā my boss took the pork chops off, so you donāt have to pay for them! JUST RUDE! As we stood up to go pay, she stopped us and said, Where are you going? I explained we are going to the front to pay and by cookies. She said oh no I will take your payment on here, a device she was holding! Out of all the many times we were there, NO ONE ever asked us to pay on that device! Wth??? Was she profiling us that we were leaving without paying??? Thanks for RUINING our good experience with one bad one! Very disappointing. At this point not sure we can forget it! Letās see if anyone besides that RUDE SO CALLED...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had high hopes for this place only to have them dashed . Starting with the calamari & chips appetizer , bland and rubbery , although the fries were good. We ordered the surf and turf and the chicken Parmesan . The steak was done nicely med rare as ordered . It came with Iām guessing a broccoli au gratin? Sweet carrots And a baked potato . The broccoli was first of all a ridiculous portion, huge ! itās a side! It was salty ,mushy and chunky and tasted like it was made two days ago . The carrots were cut into huge chunks with no uniformity and tasted like they were boiled in corn syrup . The baked / steamed? Potato was was hard in the center and had clearly been sitting in a warmer for way too long ,not edible ! . Ok so letās move on to the chicken Parmesan , that came recommended by our server .How do I describe this dish ? The chicken breast first of all was what I would guess to be about 5 inches thick , breaded in a soggy mixture possibly baked ? For sure cooked off at the beginning of the dinner shift and held over in a warmer. Served a top way undercooked (not edible )Fettuccine slathered in Alfredo sauce.with a ladle full of marinara on the side of the plate oh I forgot the gobb of Burt cheese just for good measure .itās also served with four huge pieces of old garlic bread? Sesame seeded bread that I guess they were just trying to use up? After seeing the presentation I tried it anyway it literally tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for two hours the pasta was crunchy dry the chicken itself was undercooked the breading was soggy the Alfredo was repulsive . You know that feeling when youāre embarrassed for someone else? Thatās what I felt for the server when I had to tell him that the pasta wAs undercooked and I couldnāt not eat it I dint mention all the other issues with this meal . He offered to have them re make it at first I reluctantly agreed to this , but ask him to just cancel the order. I think they pre make most of the food and it sits in warmers so re making it wouldnāt have made it any better. One other thing about the food we had the soup/ clam chowder? It was not at all a clam chowder itās more of an oily greasy dare I say potato leek soup gray in color and salty as the bay. Also tasted like leftover food . Our server apologized for the issues and offered some soup or salad for me while I waited for my husband to eat his steak. He then said he could offer us a piece of cake to make up for the food I declined and assured him itās ok . At the time of payment he offered cake again and we reluctantly accepted . Choosing the chocolate cream cheese . HE THEN CHARGED US FOR THE CAKE! And told me hope to see you again. in short this is the worst food in Monterey . Idc what guy Ferrari says he must have been drunk Lol Iāve never felt the need to write a review before but this place is so bad, I had to call it out . DONT EAT HERE ! Oh and the cake looks better...

UPDATE 01.21.2025 Photos of the grilled chicken sandwich which my wife said was delish! Loved the soft, tasty bun, generous size chicken breast as well as more than ample, sliced, avocado. I had (again) the braised beef with gravy* on the side. The beef was moist and full of flavor. A nice size serving of real mashed potatoes below the meat. The carrots were cooked enough to enjoy, with a nice flavor. The broccoli was crisp, colorful and fresh. **My complaint is their gravy. My guess is it's from a tube or a glass jar & it tastes like it. The gravy is very salty which usually constitutes that it is concentrate from a jar. Concentrated gravy has massive amounts of sodium or even worse, monosodium glutamate (MSG).
UPDATE 11.14.2024 Had the turkey dinner special. The turkey was moist and flavorful. I enjoyed the sweet potato, broccoli with "cheese" topping and cut carrots. The cranberry sauce was nice as well. The gravy was okay (I recommend ordering it on the side) the mash potatoes tasted a bit like boxed that was mixed with real potatoes. Overall the dinner was great and a large serving! Service, as usual, was excellent!
UPDATE 4.19.23 2nd mushroom burger was great as was the bun. 1st burger meat was overcooked and moisture "smashed" out of it. Our server was quick to replace and the manager to listen. I ordered the "potato" salad with the burger. I say "potato" as it should be a "sweet relish" salad. There was so much relish that was all I could taste. My wife ordered their lasagna which we've enjoyed in the past and enjoyed again. A large serving with plenty of delicious sauce, and soft garlic bread to boot! The noodles were a bit soft for me however always delicious! Lastly, I haven't ordered wine at Rosie's but note that they offer good wine choices at reasonable prices. Service from Cory was great! Order ice cream with your cake! 2.23.24. Popped in for a quick dinner. Short ribs (chuck roast) were great laid on top of a mound of mashed potatoes and skipped the brown gravy. An unexpected side was a dense and cheesy broccoli soufflƩ & a nice, large portion. My wife enjoyed her usual lasagna. New, larger wine glasses, for red...
