So we came here based on the excellent reviews and were quite disappointed. The service was excellent but the food was nothing special. We ordered Beef with broccoli, pork lomein, sesame chicken and chicken wings.
The good: Chicken wings were the typical Chinese fried chicken wings so it was good. Just like other take out restaurants. So no complaints there. Also, the vegetable spring rolls were also comparable to other takeout. White rice was good.
The bad: The lomein literally was just tossed in a brown sauce. Very bland and lacked flavor. A good restaurant stir fries a garlic paste/minced ginger in hot wok first then adds the meats and vegetables and noodles to give it flavor. Disappointed. It was not even aromatic.
The beef with broccoli ... The beef was not prepped beforehand. Usually it is marinated and then tenderized. The beef was chewy and literally just deep fried til ready, then broccoli added to oil to briefly cook then tossed in the same brown sauce as the lomein earlier.
The brown sauce lacked depth. Many things go into a special brown sauce but I could see the restaurant didn't have the technique as the brown sauce they used was simply too simple and over salty. Brown sauce should be "special" and this sauce was literally just soy sauce.
As for the sesame chicken, it looked beautiful but again, lacked depth in flavor. It was too salty and did not have the balance between salty, sweet and hint of tart flavor. Disappointed.
As for the chili oil, it was not good. Add a little garlic so that it isnt so plain, please. The flavor was either too raw of chili OR, the chili oil was old. The scent was not pleasant.
All in all, we spent $55 which included a 15% tip for a TAKE OUT PLACE.
Now you are wondering why this sounds critical? This is an honest review from someone who wanted to support a mom and pop business. This was our first time and it will be our last. We were disappointed.
We did love the to go containers, chicken wings and spring rolls. But nothing more.
Maybe there is nothing else around? Or nothing else better? If so, go elsewhere. This is not to put down a restaurant, but criticism on...
Read moreI was here today because well I’m pregnant and the little babe wanted hibachi chicken with broccoli and shrimp sauce. So the place I usually go to is closed (Christmas Eve) and I look up other places near me and this store was open. I look at the menu and I saw Steamed Chicken with veggies I thought well maybe if I ask them to make it how I like it’ll turn out good. I call them up (I was in a hurry) and the nice man said everything was good to go and he repeated everything back to me so I send my hubby in to grab the food so we can hurry on our way. He comes out and I smell beef I look in the box and it looked like beef with broccoli it surely tasted like beef with broccoli and so we tasted a few pieces and it was white chickening the middle. I mean this was so confusing to me I think it was just a heavy sauce? Tasted just like beef though not bad flavor just not what I ordered. So I sent him back in to get what I did order and I’m munching on my crab Rangoon in the car. I could tell they buy it frozen in bulk because I love crab Rangoon, I have had it from several stores. Hubby come back out he said they made me a whole new tray. So I’m excited and I look in there and oh my goodness..... it was literally shaved chicken that had been steamed! It looked soooo disgusting. I told him that we would just have to be late to our family’s party because I had to rush home and finish cooking this weird chicken. Ugh it was gross. So I pick out the chicken at home I put it in a fry pan on high heat I put the provided soy sauce in there I browned it up and cooked it really well then I added a little duck sauce and I spread out my rice in my to go box I put the chicken on top of the rice out back on the broccoli and then dumped my (extremely bright pink looks like pepto bismol) shrimp sauce in everything and it tasted a little better. I’m sure this place has great food but this was a total fail. It was my fault I’m sure of it but just to let other customers know - do NOT order their food Togo without looking at it first and if you’re a first time customer definitely eat inside the restaurant.... portions and price...
Read moreI'm sorry to disagree with the people posting on here of how good it was but this place is really lacking when compared to their price and other restaurants in the area. I got general tso's chicken and rice and the chicken was mearly frozen meatballs and most of it was bread filling then covered in store bought tso sauce. My girlfriend ordered the teriyaki chicken and it was real chicken, good start, but still frozen, and the sauce was also from walmart. I know this because i buy the same sauces to make at home and honestly me being a white person who has no Chinese culinary experience can do it much better. i was not impressed at all. for that price i expected real chicken. For anyone reading this i recommend you try Lotus chinese just down the street, its much better and around the same price. If you want something even cheaper try J's Chinese which still is better than rice fun. The only thing i recommend from Rice Fun is their Chinese style buffalo wings and their rice. Everything else is just sad. If it were the only chinese place in town thats one thing but with chuangs and lotus in the area and them being so amazing, rice fun needs to step up their...
