Sushi at the Lake Too — Restaurant in Mooresville

My husband, son and I decided to try out this place tonight because it was my birthday and I was craving sushi. For a Saturday night we were pleasantly surprised to find them not busy and we were seated immediately by the host who said he would let our server know we were here. We were there for over ten minutes without so much as a greeting from our server when I noticed that a woman and her children who had walked in after us already had their drinks (both water and alcohol beverages). My frustration grew because we were with my hungry toddler and were ready to place our appetizer and sushi order much less our drink order. My husband knew I was ready to go but wanted to give it a few more minutes and let this young employee who walked by us know that we hadn’t seen a waiter still. She apologized, left to go talk to a waiter. Still no one came to our table. Eventually she came back, took our drink order, but then left and started doing other chores before bringing the waters (she may have been too young to bring our alcohol). At that point my husband had finally had enough and we left. ATROCIOUS, UNACCEPTABLE SERVICE. No wonder there was no wait on a Saturday night- they won’t be open much longer treating customers like this. Happy birthday to me- I received better service next door at Salsaritas than at a supposedly nice hibachi and sushi restaurant. I’m not from around here and decided to give this place a try! My 5 year old son really loves sushi so I thought I’d surprise him with a night out. We decided to get the Sushi at the lake dinner 1 with the Ocean's Flavor Roll and fried cheese cake. Mom made an oops and forgot to order his nigiri without wasabi. The chef overheard and before I could order more nigiri he replaced it for him! He was very kind and it was a big deal to me since I was going to order another round being that it was my mistake. My kiddo and I were so happy with our meals. The waitress was also super kind and welcoming, it was just an overall great experience. At the end when I asked for my check the waitress said that we had already been taken care of, and I was floored. I had to fight back some tears until i got to the car. Hopefully the person who took care of us gets a chance to read this, my kiddo and I have had quite the year and this just made my whole evening. Thank you so much. After reading all of the good reviews, I decided to try this place. I was so unpleasantly surprised at the lack of staff during a busy lunch hour. They had two poor waitresses that were running around like crazy. The grilled calamari was delicious but I was very disappointed in the lack of sushi that was available. I wanted sushi nigiri style and everything that I asked for , they did not have. I then decided to get a Japanese bento box And sadly it was cold when I received it. I imagine it would have been tastier if it was warm but the edamame was ice cold, gyoza was cold and the spicy tuna roll Tasted as if it had been pre made and sitting in a refrigerator for a while as the rice was hard and cold. I did not have the heart to complain to the waitress who was helping all of the patrons at the restaurant with one other waitress.
