My mother and I have been going to Steak n Shakes all over America. We love the triple steak burger and fries it’s the only thing we order it’s sort of like our thing. We order it plain just meat cheese lettuce add bacon. And no matter where we go the $3.99 order usually goes up to at most $5ish because of the bacon and that’s fine we like what we like. We’ve never had a poor experience until lately and it’s not the restaurant it’s the waitress at the Mooresville, NC location. The last 3 times I have come in here whether it be with my husband or my mother we had the same waitress I’ve noticed she’s been there awhile I’ve lived here 8 years now and I’ve noticed her for approximately 2 of those years. This is only a recent issue. She could’ve been doing this longer than my last 3 visits in the past 2 months I don’t know. So I order my usual and I get what I ordered the first visit. But my bill says $7.99 ? Just to add 2 slices of bacon...? Ok we paid and left just thinking whatever we are in a hurry no time to argue. 2nd visit same waitress...I order my usual and out comes this monster of a burger with like 6-8 pieces of bacon. Bill comes out and the burger is $7.99 so my Mum and I ask her what’s up and she says because we wanted bacon that’s what she HAD to give /charge us. My mum just told me to keep shut and we paid and left hoping that surely next time we go in they get this issue fixed. Oh no. The 3rd time I go in with my husband I order my usual and I get that same monster of a burger! The waitress noticed who I was and ignored us the rest of our stay! I was going to send the burger back but she would look over at us and walk away regardless of me trying to get her over to my table. I know how to order my burger it’s not a communication issue here. This issue is the waitress up charging customers to get a larger tip in the end. I worked in the food industry and my husbands friends and family owns and runs all of the Mazatlan’s in NC. We know the ins and outs I know the new APOS system they use to type in orders. Instead of pushing the $3.99 burger add bacon she’s pushing a Xtreme burger and the pushing what I don’t want like for example no onions. It makes the bill higher therefore making 20% a higher amount. I just checked online and in the breakfast menu they say 2 pieces of bacon is $1.79 if you add that to $3.99 you get $5.78 not $7.99. Money is all she cares about. I’ll tell you what maybe it’s time for my family to find a new place to go get a good burger. More bacon does not make for a better burger. We know what we like and we know what to expect when we pay for it. This greedy server needs to be reprimanded. I love Steak ‘n Shake. I’d hate to have to find somewhere new because I’m not paying double what my entire order is worth just...
Read moreFirst time customer. Was exited to try the beef tallow fries. Went inside to dine and were greeted with kiosks, not humans. It felt cold and uneasy. When I went to order my Frisco Melt, I wanted to add pickle, but there was no option. My daughter Ed ordered a garlic burger and it allowed her to chose pickle or remove it. That was odd. The meat was good, but both sandwiches became soggy very quickly . The garlic butter they put on top of the bun made it very messy to eat. The fries were not as good as expected. They are so thin you hVe to eat 4 at a time to have anything to taste. Since it was our first time being there we didn't know you had to scan a code from your receipt to use the soda fountain. It took awhile but we figured it out. I stopped to let the fizz of the root beer settle, but I couldn't fill my drink up all the way, because once you stop, the machine stops and you need to scan your code again. It was just a hassle. When ordering at the kiosk, it showed we could get a free shake after 4pm. So once we ate, we went back to order the free shake. My app showed I had a free shake, and a $2 off to redeem. It wouldn't let us choose the free shake, so we asked for help. The employee didn't know what to do, so he got his manager to help us, which she wasn't any help either. She said maybe they want me to use the $2 coupon first. I asked if she could go or my free shake and she said no, there was nothing she could do. So I paid for my daughter to have a shake. Our overall experience was not enjoyable. The customer service was lacking and cold just like the atmosphere. I do t think I will be traveling an hour away again to give this...
Read moreThis place is hot garbage. The food and service is inferior to similar establishments like Freddie's. Let me go into details why.
First of all, this place is in a red and white color scheme which makes it look clean. This is about the only nice thing I have to say about it.
When we first walked in, we are greeted by kiosk in which I saw an elderly couple struggling to use. They didn't have a station with a person to help solve this issue. You MUST order from the kiosk.
The second thing that irked me a bit was the drink system. Usually, at other fast food joint, you take your receipt and toss it in the trash or put it in your pocket to be emptied out on laundry day. Not here. There's a QR code on a little receipt that needs to be scanned in order to get your drink at the self serve station. I had to ask another patron nearby on how to use it. Stingy I say the least.
The third is everyone is kind of hidden in the back so if there's an issue, it's hard to get anyone's attention. They forgot my kid's bbq sauce and apple juice and I had to flag a worker from the back. This isn't usually a problem at McDonald's or any other fast food joint as it is pretty common for things to be left out at fast food places that I just kind of expect to ask for it again once yes food is received. But the fact that everyone was in the back made it pretty annoying.
Now onto the food. Since the rest of the experience sucked, it carried over to the food. It was mediocre at best with cold fries.
Skip this place is you want decent food and some service.
Overall, a crappy experience. Even for a...
