Rose's Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Morro Bay

My girlfriend and I wanted to go out for dinner, we chose Rose's, unfortunately. The ambiance is nice, with a beautiful view of the sunset and live music. That was the only good part of our visit. If we had stuck with the glasses of wine, we would have been ok.

We waited for about 10 minutes to be seated, nobody ever said they would be right with us. This was fine. We waited. We were seated where we could watch the sunset, and waited for 30 minutes before our drink order was even taken! This is too long! we had our drinks after about 20 minutes.... Again TOO LONG! Service was not so great, I was fine with that. when we got our food is when I got upset. I had the bluebeard steak, and she got some type of shrimp with avacado on it. She asked me to taste the avacado, it was rotten, which ruined the entire dish, she couldn't eat the shrimp. She loves shrimp, I have never seen her NOT eat shrimp if its in front of her.... I started eating the resoto and it was dried out like it had sat under a lamp a while... no wonder it took so long to get it.... and it tasted like plain rice, only with pieces of cardboard in it. Horrible. I moved on to my steak, No seasoning and it was seared like a piece of tuna. The outside was cooked about 1/16 of an inch, everything inside that was bloody and raw. I ate about 1/4 of it and started to feel sick, I paid the bill because I dont like sounding like a complainer.

When I got home I was vomiting the meat and resoto up. I called them and said I was sick and their food was horrible. I havent been sick from food since eating at the wrong BBQ place in Florida. The food In Iraq was better, and I wanted a refund for the food portion of our bill. The manager refused and told me if I was sick she legally had to tell me to go to a doctor. I then informed her I would go through my bank to stop the full amount if she did not refund the food part. She declined.

Horrible service, Nice wait service, horrible food, good drinks and ambiance. How can they call themselves a restaurant? It would be a great martini bar.

I highly ecommend going to this spot on your next visit and I can assure you, you wont be disappointed. Rose's had some of the better prices for a beachfront restaurant, especially when compared to its neigboring restaurants. We were able to watch the sunset from a heated patio located on the water, the food as mentioned was pretty affordable, the wait time was not long considering it was mothers day (however your experience may differ) and above all, the food was great, as someone who actually doesnt particularly enjoy seafood I was pleasantly suprised to find myself enjoying the popular seafood dishes. -Their fish n chips had great breading coating a cooked to perfection fish that essentially melted in my mouth the portion size was large and the 3 peice was more than enough to satisfy my hunger from walking and driving all day. -The clam chowder (although a small portion size) was a great consistency, and seemed to be enjoyed, but with the smaller portion size, the enjoyment was short lived. -The house salad was huge and could satisfy most peoples appetite alone, and for the price it cant be beat. -The bay shrimp coctail (one of my personal favorite items to order from beach front resteraunts) was a light meal in itself however there could have been more coctail sauce in my opinion. This is a long reveiw because it is one of the few five star ratings I have given and its simply because this place has been overlooked by me for ages and since our go to spot was closed, we decided to try it. Will never try to eat there again. First the wait time was off by 30 minutes and was told that the only table open was out in the cold with no heat and found out that it no lights too. Asked if we could get a table inside and was told that we would have to wait even longer. As we were sat we watched a inside table open up. Thought hostess might run out and offer us the table, but that's what you get with people who don't care. So we sat at the table outside and we had to use the cell phone light to read menus. Next ordered drinks which took forever and It was nothing special a beer and a water. Got order taken fairly fast but watched other patrons who were sat after us get food including the table inside. About 10 minutes went by and the woman waiting on us noticed that our food had not arrived and assured us that we would have food soon and about 10 minutes went by and still no food. Wait person checked on us again and told us that the food was on its way. About another 10 minutes went by we still didn't have food. Now super tired of waiting we approached the hostess and asked for our bill for the half of beer that was consumed and the manager. We explained what happened and received an icy cold sorry and he comped the beer as the wait person was screaming at us not to leave. We turned and walked out.
