As out of towners, we immediately look to eat where the locals eat. As soon as we pulled up and saw a line and the outdoor tables filled with people waiting for food, we knew we were at the right place! Now let's get to the point, the food! I had the BBQ ribs, potatoes with gravy, yams, and cabbage. This is one of Big Mike's platter options. The yams were tender but a little on the extra sweet side, but they were still good. The potatoes with gravy were excellent! They were hot and creamy, and the gravy was filled with flavor (remember this point)! The cabbage was tender but lacked any real flavor. The cab was recommended by our waitress as she said the greens didn't have much flavor. I would have hated to get the greens if they were worse than the cabbage! The ribs were tender. They weren't fall off the bone tender but still good. The sauce was a little thin for my taste. It was actually tasty, but I felt like they might have been trying to stretch it and added too much water. My daughter also had the ribs and good consistency across both orders. Now she also had the potatoes with gravy and I will say this, hers was night and day different than mine. Her order may have been the last of that tray, and I lucked out and received mine from a fresh tray. Her potatoes were stiff, they were not hot, but the gravy was still good. Major inconsistentcy between two plates at the same table. Yet consistent with what the waitress told us. She said the quality of the food depended upon who was cooking that day. My wife had the fried fish with string beans and Mac and cheese. The string beans were full of flavor and tender. The Mac and cheese had a nice burnt crust on it, which aided in the flavor. It wasn't creamy, but it was seasoned very well. It's definitely a hit. The fried fish was very delicious. Seasoned well, a little too much salt, but still very tasty. The cornbread muffins were a letdown. They had the consistency of a cup cake, but they were super dry. I ended up dipping mine I to the yams to finish it off. My other daughter had the turkey wings, potato salad, and string beans. She ate the turkey wings so fast I didn't have a chance to taste them! She notes that they were cooked very well and tender. Full of flavor and delicious. The potato salad gave her the feeling of store bought and lacking the homemade taste and feel. For dessert, we ordered a peach cobbler, cheese cake, and sweet potato pie. The sweet potato pie was really heavy. It was good but really heavy and dense. The cheesecake was delicious, and we really enjoyed the homemade strawberry topping! It wasn't that store bought syrupy topping with the mushy strawberries. The cheesecake was dense but really good. It wasn't too sweet, and the crust was tasty and the right consistency. Not soft and mushy. Now the peach cobbler, well that al.ost started a fight at the table. We ordered one with ice cream and then ordered another to take home. It was heavily breaded and crusty, but the flavor ran all the way through. To me, it didn't seem overly sweet, and the peaches were firm and not overcooked. Overall, the food was good, but there were some major inconsistencies which we expected with a heads up from our waitress.

Let me just start out by saying this place is absolutely amazing! We came on a Friday night so they were busy and what you do is write your name and number down go wait in your car and they'll call you when your table's ready and I think that's pretty cool. So we finally got our call came to our table and our server was a breath of fresh air she was smiling she was happy and greeted us with enthusiasm. She took her drink orders got it back to us right away then took our food orders I got fried chicken mac and cheese pintos and cornbread and my daughter had grilled cheese and Mac n cheese And my mom had peach cobbler because she had already eaten that night. The food was absolutely insanely amazingly delicious! The fried chicken with cooked to a golden perfection with great seasoning and a tender juicy inside! Don't get me started on the mac and cheese My first bite I was hooked not lying one of the best I ever had in my life It looked like it was baked but it also had flavor to it what's a lot of mac and cheese doesn't You just have to taste it you'll know when I'm talking about. Pintos were cooked awesomely as well nice and tender and full of flavor just like Grandma used to make. And my daughter she's a huge mac and cheese person and when she took her first bite looked at me her eyes looked like they rolled back into her head she said it was so good and her grilled cheese was also, wonderful! My mom had a peach cobbler and she said she couldn't get enough. The service to the people at the front to the cooks to the food everything, was awesome I was amazed how satisfied I was with everything and they definitely have earned 3 new customers for life! And before we came to Big Mike's we were at River City Cafe right down the road from there and it had to have been the worst experience I've ever had in my life. We got sat didn't see our server No one came to our table for 10 minutes brought us our drinks took our food order and when he brought our food to us he threw it down on the table didn't even look at anyone and walked off without saying a word. He never came back to the table had to chase him down for the check and then on a party of three he added a 20% gratuity he took it upon himself to do that. My mom asked him where do I leave the tip and he said it's already added on there what's really surprised my mom. My food was nasty I didn't even need half my burger and only ate two fries My daughter's food was nasty It was box craft macaroni and cheese which was nasty and the tender she had were also nasty she hardly ate anything. Our server was so rude the food was awful That's why we left there and went to Big Mike's and I ended up eating all my food at Big Mike's. So we want to give a big shout out to Big Mike's Thank you for taking care of me My mother and my daughter. We had great service great food and a great ambience and we can't wait to come back. You guys are absolutely amazing there from everyone to the front door to the back of the kitchen we thank you! I highly recommend this place If you like good soul food cooking down south come here this is where you need to be You will not be disappointed!

Great chicken! I recently had the pleasure of dining at a soul food restaurant that truly left a lasting impression. From the moment I stepped inside, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that felt like a home away from home. The decor was charming and cozy, with a touch of Southern charm that set the perfect tone for what was to come. The menu was a delightful array of classic soul food dishes, making it difficult to choose just one. I decided to start with the fried green tomatoes, and they were nothing short of spectacular. Crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, they were seasoned to perfection and accompanied by a tangy dipping sauce that elevated the flavors even more. For the main course, I opted for the fried chicken, and it was a decision I will never regret. The chicken was perfectly golden and crispy on the outside, while being incredibly juicy and flavorful on the inside. Each bite was a burst of deliciousness, with just the right amount of seasoning. Alongside the chicken, I enjoyed collard greens and mac and cheese. The collard greens were tender and rich in flavor, and the mac and cheese was creamy, cheesy, and had a delightful crispy top layer. The service was impeccable throughout our visit. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the food they were serving. They made us feel like family, ensuring that we had everything we needed and more. The restaurant was also spotless, which added to the overall positive experience. To complement the meal, I tried their sweet tea, which was the perfect balance of sweetness and refreshment. It was the ideal drink to wash down the hearty and flavorful meal. Overall, my experience at this soul food restaurant was nothing short of amazing. The combination of mouthwatering, authentic food, exceptional service, and a welcoming atmosphere made for an unforgettable dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to enjoy some truly exceptional soul food.
