Came into town to visit for a week. Found a lot of the food in the area was higher in price but lacking quality and taste so opted out for the comforts of Asian food to bring me closer to home, and to revive my foodie soul after several other negative dining experiences in the area. (Wanted to play it safer with familiar foods if I was going to pay higher for food prices.)
Overall, food was okay. We dined in with 4 adults and 3 toddlers. Ordered a few different dishes such as pad thai, beef eggplant, combination fried rice, apps, and a few others. My beef eggplant dish came out a bit too salty but the flavors were there. Padthai was good and flavorful with the noodles being perfect al dente, and would rival what I expect to find in my MN Asian community. (Sometimes noodles can be easily overcooked and turned to mush.) Food didn't necessarily "hit the spot" and felt more as a neutral experience.
Layout of the restaurant was sorta weird with the dining areas split between front and back with no actual desk/platform for a hostess to greet you as you enter. Had a few customers come in and wait with a confused look until hostess was able to finally make their round up front to greet and seat them.
Lastly, even though I didn't order any, loved seeing all their vegetarian options. I can see why it ranks high for Asian food in the area as there aren't...
Read moreBest spot in Myrtle Beach.
You read that correctly. Not just the best Thai spot. NO! The best restaurant in Myrtle Beach.
The service was phenomenal, the craft cocktails were outstanding and the food was on another level.
This is not your average Thai spot. Don't come here thinking it's just another run-of-the mill Americanized Thai restaurant. This is authentic. Pay heed to the spice level section of your menu, they are not kidding.
My wife and I started off drinks - she had the Green Lotus - Thai Rum with coconut, cilantro, ginger and lime. She ended up loving it so much she got two. I had the Earl Grey Old Fashioned and Singha Lager. I was almost tempted to order the Allocated Whiskey Flight but ended up passing.
For apps we went with the Golden Tofu and Money Bags appetizers - just amazing. Dinner I got the Tofu Drunken Noodles spice level three and my wife got the Garlic Chili Jumbo Shrimp spice level 4. All of these dishes were absolutley outstanding. The spice level was perfection and the portions are massive!(two to-go boxes). There is definitely a Thai cuisine master behind these dishes, YOU CAN TASTE THE DIFFERENCE!
All in all, 3 cocktails, a beer, two appetizers, two entrees all for 100$ bucks.
Thank you to Black Thai for a great date night and the best meal we've had in Myrtle...
Read moreThis ranks as one of the worst dining experiences ever. I ordered red curry with shrimp and the waiter asked if I wanted large shrimp. I said okay and received a curry that had dried out, over cooked shrimp with a few pieces of pineapple and peppers and was charged $13 over the price listed on the menu. But this was not the worst, service was terrible. At my table, I received my appetizer but my two companions did not receive their orders. After asking twice, my other companion received her appetizer and then her entree. My other companion later received his entree and then his appetizer and after they had finished half their meals, I received my entree. This was not the worst, though, as the waiter started a contentious argument with some customers at the next table. I will never return to Black Thai and would never recommend it. The waiter's behavior was totally inappropriate and disgusting. He should be fired. What should have been a pleasant dining experience was instead a stressful and...
