Wow! We had originally hoped to try Swig & Swine in Charleston on a visit, but there are a lot of great BBQ joints in Charleston and we don't make it there very often. So when we heard, earlier this year, that Swig & Swine was opening a new location right in Myrtle Beach, they shot to the front of the line for “where I want BBQ next!”
We were able to make it in on a Sunday night around 6 in early June. We went with family from out of town and found parking easily. We were quite surprised that there was no wait to get a table, in fact, there were only a few scattered tables in use and 2 additional dining sections that were not open. We came from the 501 side and I was disappointed that I didn't get that sweet aroma of smoking hickory out front, but it was there when we were inside.
We were seated quickly and had a top notch server in Fernando. If you've read my reviews before, you know what I'm here for, BUT Swig & Swine has an item on the menu called the Family Platter. The Family Platter let us try every meat on the menu and was reasonably priced at $72. We had 2 teenage boys in our party and still took home leftovers. We chose sides of Coleslaw, Beans with Brisket and Mac & Cheese. The food was out in no time and the sight of it had my mouth watering.
Thankfully, I know what I always want first, otherwise it could've been a struggle for what to make my first choice. Pulled Pork BBQ was what I landed and it was great! Smokiness, Bark and bite were all there with wonderful flavor. I added some of their Vinegar Sauce which was a great compliment to the BBQ and was heavy on the peppers. I could've enjoyed a lot more of it if it wasn’t for the smorgasbord of other meats in front of me. Brisket, Chicken Wings, Baby Back Ribs, Sausage, Turkey and Pork Belly, my recommendation is… don't miss any of it. The Coleslaw was nice and creamy and complimented the Pulled Pork BBQ. The Beans and Brisket were also fantastic!
With the restaurant not being overly crowded we were able to sit and linger while we enjoyed the conversation over great BBQ and isn't that what BBQ is all about? A full belly of great BBQ and a wonderful time with family & friends.
Fernando also took us into their event room where we could see the smoker through a metal screen. Now I could smell plenty of that beautiful smoke! The opposite end of the room also had a screen allowing the smoke to escape, tempting and pleasing passerbys out front on Broadway St. I guess because we parked on the 501 side of the restaurant and didn't wait outside was the reason for not smelling the smoke upon our arrival. But it was there now in its full smoky glory.
What a great idea to put a marquee BBQ joint in Myrtle Beach! This is what Myrtle Beach had been missing. While there are plenty of dining experiences like this in Charleston, Myrtle had been sorely lacking a great sit down, quality BBQ locale. Please don't misunderstand, it's not that Myrtle Beach doesn't have great BBQ cause there are plenty of spots for that, but they're grab and go. Thanks Swig & Swine for thinking outside the box and branching out to Myrtle Beach. I wish you all the best here and look forward to...

Nestled in the heart of Myrtle Beach’s evolving downtown district on Broadway Street, Swig and Swine is a delightful spot that perfectly balances casual charm with mouthwatering food. This area, known as Five Points, is in the midst of a transformative renaissance, poised to become a pedestrian-friendly entertainment and dining destination in the next few years. For locals like me, it’s an exciting time to explore what’s already here, and Swig and Swine is a standout.
Just a few blocks from home, I recently strolled over with my dogs to meet a friend for a patio dinner. The dog-friendly patio (a big win for us pet owners) was perfect for the cool evening, with plenty of space for well-behaved pups to settle in.
We happened to visit on Smashburger Special Night, and what a treat it was! The discounted smash burgers were a triumph—juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. This burger has officially made my Best Burgers in America list. Alongside the burgers, I indulged in their mac and cheese, which was easily one of the best I’ve ever had. The creamy blend of cheeses clung perfectly to the pasta, and the slight browning at the edges added a heavenly touch of texture and flavor.
We also started with a shareable appetizer of house-made pork rinds, choosing the Tabasco and blue cheese variety. These were simply outstanding—crispy, fresh, and generously seasoned. The portion size was impressive, making it a great dish for sharing (or not, if you’re feeling greedy!).
The ambiance was lively and welcoming. The full bar, accessible from both the patio and the interior, is a thoughtful design touch that makes it easy to grab a drink no matter where you’re sitting. My server was attentive and genuinely friendly, as was the food runner, who stopped by for a quick chat. It was clear that the staff enjoys working here, and their positive energy enhances the dining experience.
The restaurant was spotless, with clean tables and a well-maintained patio—a detail I always appreciate. Swig and Swine has quickly become a favorite, and I can’t wait to go back and explore more of the menu.
If you’re in the Five Points area—or planning a visit to Myrtle Beach—this spot is not to be missed. With its warm hospitality, exceptional food, and a promising location in an area that’s on the rise, Swig and Swine is a must-try. I’ll be back soon and will update this review as I try more dishes. But for now, it’s two thumbs...
Read moreWe generally don’t get to this part of Myrtle Beach as we live in North Myrtle, but we were down here on other business and found ourselves looking for a nice place off the beaten path, something a little different and came across this. There’s a ton of seating, so I’m imagining as long as they have wait-staff it shouldn’t be hard to get a seat here. We all had something a little different. My wife had the chicken sandwich, daughter had the pulled pork, and I had the brisket. Everything was cooked to perfection, nice and juicy with lots of flavor. On the table there was five or six different barbecue sauces which we always appreciate as we like to try different things with different meats. For sides my daughter and I had the Brunswick stew and the corn pudding which for us were both new options and we agreed they were very good. I really appreciated the rich tomato flavor of the Brunswick stew and the texture of the corn pudding. I decided to try them together and it was delicious. Our server was attentive and prompt. The dining area and the bathrooms were both very clean and well maintained.
Made it back this summer (2025). Our first experience was not so good. Just inside the front door and outside on the street is where everyone checks in and wait for their tables. We waited for 10 minutes upon entering and we’re never met by a host/hostess. We spoke to the family that was standing there when we entered and they said that they waited 20 minutes before I spoke to them and that they had been waiting there almost an hour for a 30 minute table. After realizing we were about the fourth or fifth family in line, we decided to look somewhere else. They really need to work on hosting functions of checking people in and estimating wait times.
For our next two visits, it was the same experience upon entering there seems to be no one there to greet you within sometimes five or 10 minutes people walking by, but nobody addressing you.
Despite the inefficiencies at the front desk, the food continues to be very good as is the service. One of our visits we decided to try a large family style platter which contains several types of meats and sides and we ordered an additional appetizer or two which seem to be more than enough food for myself, my wife, my son who is 20, and my daughter who is 16.
I expect we’ll come back to this location regularly when we visit during the summer.
I hope they get their hosting...
