Visiting for the weekend at MB. Entered 130PM on Saturday. 2 groups ahead of us. Saw 4 empty tables ready but no one seemed to care or explain why they were not seating people for 30 min. Noticed a few employees chit chatting while dozens of customers were in line. Not one person came to talk to any of us to inform what's going on while 4 tables were sitting empty. We finally asked one waitress if we could get help; she said sit wherever you want but wait to be served which may be 15 min. So, we took a table. Then, a bartender/waiter/Jeff w/ his attitude came and kicked us out and said wait in line or go elsewhere. We got back up and got in line again but felt very disrespected by this bartender's attitude in front of our kid. My family has run a restaurant in Ohio since 1990s; we understand the challenges restaurants face and staffing issues - and believe me, this place has staffing issues. But we cannot imagine allowing an employee who tell a customer to get back in line or get out of the restaurant if you don't like it (not to mention he didn't do that w/ other guests who did the exact same thing as we did - which seems very racist). Our young daughter was hungry, so we stayed and had a 10" pizza and melt. Nothing special but not bad. 3/5 star for food and reasonable prices. All this took about 90 min. We also noticed that this same bartender also served as waiter for many tables except ONE - ours. He asked another waitress to serve our table for obvious reasons. Unless completely senseless, he prob. knew if he were our waiter, he wouldn't be tipped (and he would be right). We weren't happy about this entire experience but to be fair and balanced, we rate food as 3/5. price is very reasonable for MB. Service 1/5 but only because we can't go lower than one star. No service business should have an employee (or owner) who seemingly is comfortable in saying to customer to get out of the restaurant if we don't like the way they seat people. Yes, this is Myrtle Beach and maybe they know people like us only come once a decade and business continues/thrives. As a 2nd generation of restaurant family, we do not think this is the right type of people who should be in a service industry but given how many 1 stars I've seen (since the visit) on Google reviews and many were for same / similar attitude reasons that we had, this may be a problem with the owner. Anyone perusing reviews for this restaurant should start w/ reviewing ALL 1 star reviews FIRST and ALL owners' responses to those reviews. You learn a lot about this place. Then, if you must go eat, go do your thing. My fault partly for not doing DD before entering the establishment due to young daughter's urgency. Life is full of lessons. No one needs to...
Read moreFood was decent, prices were fine, but what stood out to me most was the awful service and attitude of our server. As a fellow waitress, I completely understand certain mistakes or blunders, it happens. But to have all around terrible service on top of an insulting remark towards the end of lunch was the cherry on top of my negative experience here. Our server was Asha. After waiting a few minutes to be acknowledged and seated (they were not busy at all and there were at least 3 servers/employees walking around), we waited another 5 minutes to get menus and then proceeded to do everything as normal and placed our order. When my salad came out I had to wait another 5-10 minutes for silverware. This is due to the fact that our server (Asha) was absent throughout a large portion of our meal and if asked for anything would run away from the table quickly and cut us off. I understand when people are just being extra or aggravating, but me and my spouse were quiet, polite, and respectful, so it took me by surprise. We remained polite and ignored the small things, trying to enjoy our lunch. Towards the end, Asha came to check on us, and proceeded to make a comment along the lines of “I don’t want to ask if she needs anything else” with a sad attempt of a funny undertone. She knew what she was doing and it wasn’t funny. I wasn’t demanding. I wasn’t rude. I asked for a few extra sauces throughout our meal. I suppose this deemed it okay for her to make an offensive remark, and it may not seem serious. It’s the tone and manner she said it in, on top of the fact that I would never say something like that to a customer or table. It wasn’t in a joking manner. My spouse also took offense to this and we stiffed her due to the terrible service and tone. You never know what people are going through. We are in town due to being refugees from hurricane helene. Our home was destroyed and we decided to spend the week to get away from the devastation so I didn’t have to spend my birthday with no electricity, wifi, or hot water. It’s absolutely disgusting and disrespectful to me the way people so absentmindedly treat people, and I’m sad to say this but Asha left us very disappointed with the establishment. I do hope this was an anomaly and that she doesn’t make rude comments to other customers, and we will not be returning to be treated...
Read moreWhat a disappointment! The website boasts a wood-fired oven pizza, winner of local awards. I am an expert in wood-fired pizza and wood-fired ovens. So, I was so excited to find one in Myrtle Beach. We walked in and nobody was eating, just drinking. That was a red flag. I started looking for the wood-fired oven and could not find it. I stopped a waitress to ask where it was, and she pointed to a red gas oven made of stone. It had four logs of wood around it, but no wood burning inside. I should have walked out right then. But, I let curiosity get the best of me and decided to try their version of "wood-fired" pizza.
It took a good ten minutes for the water to come back to us to take our order, although there was only one table actually eating food, and everybody else was at the bar. I noticed a lot of wait staff and cooks just hanging around, busy ignoring us. I stood up and motioned the waiter to come to us and so he finally took our order. The bathrooms (both male and female) were out of towels and we had to tell the wait staff to replenish them. It was obvious that there was nobody manning this ship.
None of the pizzas were appealing, to be honest, clashing flavors on most pies that sounded unappetizing. We settled on the cheesesteak pizza and the potato pizza.
I am used to wood-fired Neapolitan pizza, which is light as a feather, few ingredients so the wonderful crust can shine. These pies were awful. The crust was so dense, like it had not leavened at all. Plus, it seemed that the crust had been brushed with oil. The crust tasted like cardboard. No wonder they had to load it up with toppings. The flavor was bleh. We only ate 2 slices and then our stomachs started to hurt. We asked for boxes, paid and left.
I don't know how this and other establishments that do not have an actual wood-fire oven can advertise they do. ...
