Well i debated for months about writing this review but seeing how my staff is treated here we go. Im going to start by saying me and my family have been Trulucks customers for 10+ years. The old all you can eat stone crab was my dads favorite and we would even visit the Miami location with friends while visiting.
Trulucks was my girlfriends favorite restaurant in naples so thats where she decided we were going to celebrate her birthday. She made a reservation for 10 or 12 guests for a late dinner in May (roughly 8pm). They called once a day for the 3 days leading up to confirm the reservation without knowledge of the previous person calling. Skip to the dinner time- We were one of 4 or 5 tables in the entire restaurant, we had a server and server assistant assigned to our table. Drink service from the start was terribly slow and sporadic. The table ordered some appetizers some good some just ok, 1 poorly executed. When it came to ordering dinner the server was extremely unknowledgeable on menu items and how they were prepared (a fish dish), so I ordered the 2nd option I had in mind + an additional side of garlic mashed cauliflower (a different fish dish) My girlfriend order her dinner + an additional side of lobster mashed potatoes. When the plates came out our dinner was plated nicely and we thought "alright we should be all good after the rough start". We were wrong, I took a total of 6 bites of my fish and pulled 8 large bones out of my mouth, my cauliflower mashed was burnt on the edges and cold in the middle, my girlfriends dinner plate did not have issues but her mashed potatoes were completely cold. I pushed my meal aside and she had her potatoes reheated (I am assuming in the microwave due to the time it took to reach the table again). I excused myself to the restroom and asked to speak to a manager away from the large group at our table. I spoke to a manger in the bar room about our dinner experience and he was nice and apologetic, he truly cared that we were not having a good time. As we spoke he realized he personally knew my brother and was very sorry about the problems we had. I let him know it was my girlfriends birthday and maybe we could fix everything and make it up to her, he agreed and said it would be taken care of. After our plates were cleared from the table we hung out a little while, and ordered 2 desserts, one being the carrot cake for my GF (her favorite). When they came out the carrot cake had a candle in it, we sang happy birthday and the other chocolate dessert + 2 baked Alaska's plates were placed around the table. Everyone tried the desserts, no one had a second bite of the two "complimentary" baked Alaska's, they were just not good. We ate the carrot cake and brought the rest of it home. When the bill comes its all together... even though we have been separate all night, ordering separate and can obviously be seen celebrating a friends birthday. When asked to split the check based off of the groups we sat by, my gf, her friend, boyfriend and myself are still all on 1 tab for some reason. Here comes the best part, My entire meal (which i did not eat or take home) was on the bill, my girlfriends entire meal was on the bill, her carrot cake was on the bill, the chocolate dessert was on the bill, and the 2 baked Alaska's that we didn't even order where on the bill. When asked to speak to the manager again before paying I was told he left and the server was unaware of anything. We payed the full bill and left. Still gave a 20% tip, which looking back was extremely undeserving and regret rewarding someone who gave zero regards about our experience. Obviously have not been back and will not be back. Tremendously disappointed, but this chain will continue to take Naples residents money with no care. $200+ per...
Read moreThis was a great meal to celebrate our engagement! Luigi the general manager came by our table to bring our wine. We decided to play their guess the sommelier wine game, and if you guessed correctly your glass ($15) would be free, unfortunately we didn’t guess correctly, which was okay because the wine was great, but we signed up to be emailed for the correct answer, and it’s been a few weeks and we haven’t received anything yet so we were disappointed since we were told in 2 weeks they usually email the answer or sooner if someone gets it sooner. Viktor our server was very friendly and attentive, he came by every so often to asure our food, drinks and drinks experience was great. We enjoyed his thoughts on helping us decide what we each would enjoy best, since it was our first time and weren’t sure on what to pick from their menu.
The ambiance is upscale, hidden next to the Naples players, they provide valet parking, and the restrooms clean, spacious, even providing mouth rinse for their customers. They make sure to make you feel celebrated especially if you’re there for a special occasion, from the moment the host greets you, server, GM, and at the end as well when leaving the restaurant. I personally have been to other restaurants before and specified that we are there for a birthday or what not and they barely acknowledge it, so it’s nice to have a restaurant that goes out of their way!
For our meal we decided to try their summer prefix menu, which we thought for our first time was a great deal to try out some of their items first. Every single thing we picked was absolutely delicious, I picked the lobster bisque for my starter, and the tuna for my entree both 10/10. For the dessert I went with the key lime, so good! We even received a free dessert for our engagement which was very thoughtful and delicious, it was their baked Alaska, we highly recommend it! We will definitely come back here especially for a celebration because they really make sure you feel special and their food is worth...
Read moreLast visit to Trulucks I was honestly disappointed. It was my boyfriends birthday and our anniversary, and so many things felt different. I worked in Trulucks a few years ago, so to say I am disappointed is saying a lot cause I usually rave about them every chance I get. We were seated at the bar and between people watching a game and the bar being full to listen to the piano playing the ambiance was not great for our intimate occasion. Our appetizer and my soup came out at the same time making it really weird timing to eat hot and cold food at the same time. Drinks and service were incredible so no fault to our server as she was very sweet and apologetic… the real issue came when after waiting for over an hour after our appetizers the kitchen went down; we were told that our food wasn’t coming out and that all they could do were cold foods (salads and cold appetizers) which we had just had… at this point it was almost ten pm so our conversation turned from yay dinner is almost here to I guess we can pick up fast food somewhere since everything is either closed or not taking reservations… about 20 mins passed and we were about to leave when a manager came over and told us our food was coming out… by this point our anniversary and birthday ambiance was pretty much dead; but 15 or so minutes after that our food came out, we ate, ordered dessert to go, and honestly were disappointed to have no apologies for the inconvenience or anything comped, or any kind of follow up the day after to share our experience. Since I worked at Trulucks I know they are supposed to call the day after for any feedback, but we never heard from anyone, and per my boyfriend he prefers for us to go to a different steakhouse next time as he was disappointed. From my end, I love Trulucks and will be visiting again; just won’t be going to the one in Naples as this is now my third or fourth time going since I moved to Florida and it’s nowhere near at the caliber the one’s...
