Had the Coconut Cake with Lime Zest. The consistency of the icing was rather “lard-ish”, and the coconut gave an unpleasant after-taste that resembled no coconut I have ever had…. Ever. The irony of it all, is that the one item that is not mentioned in the product description, is the one thing that is the cake’s saving grace?: The Lemon Sorbet... Actually, the only thing we could finish eating after a couple bites of the cakes (yes, we ordered 2) was the sorbet. For someone coming from the Caribbeans… I’ll be real with you… it’s unfortunate Adele’s has chosen to label that cake “Coconut cake”… I’m not gonna say it is or isn’t coconut cake… (Whisper:) But…. It isn’t coconut cake (You didn’t hear that from me)… The pretentiousness is strong with this one, eh?… The Chocolate Budino, on the other hand, lived up to its hype. The person that ordered it, raved about it; and based off of the sample I had, I’m compelled to say that the Budino alone is what earned you the 3 stars… Cause the 2 “coconut “ cakes… 😔 "They’re not it…. they’re not those cakes."
I’m reserving the 4 or 5 star rating, for when I actually visit the establishment in person… But certainly, anything more than 3 stars would be feeding into the lie. Can’t do that…
P.S. Service gets 2 stars because, some very unsettling stuff took place with the delivery: My delivery-person’s info was of someone who identified as a female (picture, name and everything)... But the person that actually delivered the meal was a different person... And there was no one else in the vehicle with him. Smells like fraud.. and creates a liability with people’s safety a.k.a. the food they're about to ingest... I feel it’s incumbent on both the delivery platforms, as well as the individual vendors (Restaurants) to identify, and verify that the food is being picked up by the right person. If something bad happens to a customer because of their negligence, it will become increasingly difficult to identify, or even make accountable, someone who has no identity....That’s...
Read moreWe dined at Adele's on December 12, 2024. We originally attempted to book a reservation online with no luck - they appeared to be fully booked. In walking by the restaurant that afternoon, we decided to pop in and see if they had any cancellations. We ended up speaking with Josh, the head chef. He tried to book us but admitted that was not his area of expertise. Instead, after a quick chat, he took our info. An hour later, we got a call that they could seat us at 7pm...and we will be seated at the Chef's Table! We arrived a bit ahead of that, and we were seated immediately. Our server, Emily, was there to greet us and explained some items on the menu. She took our drink order as well. It was clear that the restaurant was incredibly busy, but the welcome greeting and smiles on all the staff's faces were infectious. The place was literally buzzing with activity. Our view of the wood fired ovens and the magnitude of food they prepared was impressive to say the least! Holiday party season was upon us, and they had some large parties dining family style. It was fun to watch the precision with which they timed delivery of food to these parties - the expediter was truly a talented young man. They used hand signals vs. hollering at each other, so you hardly knew what was happening (except we had the best view of it all!). Shortly after we arrived, two other people sat beside us as well - we ended up chatting and sharing dishes throughout the evening. They were cousins who were heading to see Justin Timberlake. The chef working the ovens introduced himself and gifted us with an amuse bouche - a little grilled shrimp dish that was amazing! Next he gave us some shishito peppers cooked in the wood oven - delish! Hubby got the steak and I got the pork chop - but impeccably prepared. Our sides just kept coming and JD hooked us up throughout the evening! We couldn't have had a more fun and enjoyable dining experience! Thanks to JD, Emily & Josh for making our last night in Nashville...
Read moreI went here a couple weeks ago with a group of friends. I did some research before we chose Adele’s because I needed a place that was handicap accessible. Unfortunately, I got there and saw that we were seated down a flight of steps. I am not comfortable on lifts and cannot go down steps, so we asked to be moved upstairs. We were moved upstairs, which was great. I ordered a Bloody Mary for $12. The waitress asked if spicy is ok and I said “absolutely!” When it came out, it was in a short glass that wasn’t full and it tasted like watered down tomato juice. I couldn’t taste any spice or alcohol at all. Then I look at the food menu and realized that the only option is a buffet. I knew there would be a buffet, but I didn’t know you couldn’t order off of a menu also (website was not clear). I panicked a little. I can’t currently walk, and definitely can’t hold a plate while using assistive devices, so I had to inconvenience one of my friends to get my food for me. I was not impressed with the food at all. The biscuits and bagels were both stale. The eggs were very basic, but ok. The breakfast sausage had a very strange flavor that was not appetizing. I thought the chorizo gravy was pretty good. The best thing that I had, though, was the yogurt and granola + fruit… which is probably one of the only things they didn’t make in-house.
Since it took a while to get seated and get our drinks, we all had an eye on the time. Per the hostess, you’re only given 2 hours for validated parking in their spots. We had a group of friends that we haven’t seen in years, so it would have been nice to have time to chat and maybe enjoy a coffee after brunch. We were never asked if we’d like anything else before the checks were dropped off, so we didn’t have the opportunity (or time). It was all a bit rushed and the entire experience was rather unpleasant.
The only thing that I did enjoy was the environment and vibe. However, I’m not sure if that’s enough to get me to...
