First, let me say the service was exceptional. No complaints on that whatsoever. They deserve a 4 star for that alone. Everyone was extremely courteous, professional, and over the top helpful. I only gave them a 4 star because I wasn't impressed with the ribs. They were extremely tender and smoked to perfection but I didn't taste not a single flake of seasoning on them. That's what disappointed me the most. I had high hopes walking up to the building because I smelled the love that went into it but I just didn't taste it. The homemade Bar-B-Q sauce is what saved the ribs. We also had mac and cheese, and baked beans. The mac and cheese was generic (box variety), and the baked beans were bitter. We only had the ribs as an entree, so I am not certain about the other meats but the ribs just didn't cut it for me. To be fair, I am from Southern Alabama. Our meat has hypertension with a smige of diabetes in the sauce sooooo lol. I encourage everyone to form thier own opinion though because each palate is different.
Edit: To the owner: Thank you for your response to my review. I am more than willing to try your food again. I don't often visit places twice after an indifferent experience, but I wholeheartedly believe that you have more to offer. I can see why your staff is beyond wonderful, your positive attitude seems to be infectious. Again, thank you and I...
Read moreStructurally, the 354th 'cue stop on this journey currently spanning 35 states (#12 in Tennessee) is cafeteria style BBQ. You begin by ordering your meat, and then select one or more sides from the trays spread out along the counter on the opposite side of the glass. This is where you will find the banana pudding as well. Because I always wonder about how warm the food is being kept, and how dry it might get over time, I opted to come here for dinner, arriving about 75 minutes before the close. A two meat combo platter (4 rib bones and chopped brisket off the fatty end) paired with sides of greens and baked beans. Add in a small banana pudding, and the whole came to $28.50. The ribs were surprisingly good if a little dry, separating cleanly at the bite. The rub was light, but offered good flavor. The brisket, in contrast, was so lightly seasoned that even the bark was bland. Others might try saucing it to save the day. The greens were solid, but the baked beans unremarkable. The corn bread was nice and moist, with a texture like pound cake (recommended). There were no wafers in the banana pudding, but it was otherwise pretty well balanced, and not overly sweet. On the whole, then, I would choose ribs over brisket and greens over baked beans. If you stop here, definitely try...
Read moreI don’t review places, but our dinner here tonight showed how low customer service standards have become. My wife ordered a jumbo chicken sandwich with no bun since she doesn’t prefer bone-in chicken. When they plopped bone-in chicken in her to-go container (I guess they don’t have plates), she asked ‘do you not have any pulled chicken?’. The employee just shook his head no; no words were spoken. She said, ‘not for a chicken sandwich?’. He just shook his head no and stared her. Ok. I got the brisket and asked what the sides were. He pointed down the buffet line; no words. I could see about half of what appeared to be offered; the rest was obscured by steamed up glass; so, I asked for Mac-n-cheese.
When we got to the end of the line, the employee working the register punched the order in and pushed our food forward. Again, no words were spoken; so, I paid with my credit card and we got some self-serve sauces and went to the patio. The brisket was tender but had no flavor without the sauces. The Mac-n-cheese made the Kraft variety seem gourmet; watered down mush with no cheese flavor, texture or smell. My wife said her chicken tasted ‘interesting’. I guess that’s better than bad.
We spent roughy $50. I have no idea how this restaurant has a 4.5...
