For the most part, my stay at this hotel was not a pleasant one. I was in Nashville for the first time as a birthday present to myself to take in the country music scene and to go to some of the honky tonks. The hotel has some nice qualities but the bad qualities outnumber 2 to 1.
Pros: The lady who worked on the SpringHill Suites side on Saturday was a real pleasure. (Her name escapes me) she was the best part of the stay. The hotel is modern and I love the dual-branded concept. Breakfast was pretty good. SHS side is in the new modern layout with the bathtub separate from the shower. Location is AWESOME! Right down the road from Broadway and the Honky Tonks plus a lot of Country Music history around the hotel (right around the corner from several of the iconic studios/ Music Row).
Cons: When I reserved the room on the Marriott App, I reserved a one-bedroom suite on the Residence Inn side. It somehow, however, got flipped to room on the SHS side. I didn't mind though as I was only there one night and the Marriott points are greater for SHS than RI. The guy at check in- on the RI side did not do any of the average check-in procedures Marriott is known for. Didn't tell me check-out time, didn't tell me any of the amenities like the pool and fitness center or when breakfast was served. He also didn't tell me about or instruct me on how to use the free Wi-fi, was extremely misleading about Nashville parking to which the front desk supervisor also told me the same misleading information ( Do NOT let the staff tell you only parking on 18th street is free after 6 on Saturdays. It is free in ALL of downtown Nashville- per the City of Nashville's ParkIt Downtown website) . None of my preferences were honored as a Marriott Elite Rewards member. In fact, my view was literally of a concrete wall of a fire escape on the lowest floor. The bathroom was disgusting at least on the shower side. It look like the towels, most of the washcloths and shower had brown streaks that resembled fecal matter smeared on them. I didn't notice the shower until I was about to check out so I had to shower away from the wall under the shower head and blow dry myself dry using the blow dryer. AC/heater Unit didn't work properly either. The rest of the room though was very nice. All and all, I probably will not stay at this hotel again. Despite the fact that it is very centrally located not unless several things change about how they...
Read moreMy husband and I were extremely pleased by the cleanliness of the facility and friendliness of the staff. The room was spacious, with excellent bathroom and shower. The separate study area with sofa was wonderful and would have come in useful had we needed to extend our stay. We especially enjoyed the fitness center and loved the fact that we could workout at any time of day or night. This perk was important to us since we were visiting an extremely ill relative at Vanderbilt Medical Center and could not workout until late at night. The number of treadmills and elliptical machines was impressive. The mounted TV monitors on each machine were in great working order and made our workout much more enjoyable. We were also surprised to find that free weights were available. There was certainly more fitness equipment than I have seen at other hotels. The fitness center proved to be a valuable stress reliever at a difficult time in our lives. Although we did not take advantage of the large indoor pool, it definitely looked clean and inviting. The complimentary breakfast and coffee stand were also much appreciated. We found the buffet to be well stocked and the hot food cooked to perfection! We also loved the fact that there was an excellent Chinese restaurant with buffet just around the corner from the hotel. As a result, we were able to eat late on the night of our arrival. Our only complaint was concerning the parking garage. We arrived late and it was difficult to park our minivan in one of the few remaining spaces. It was difficult to turn around when we realized that we had gotten to the top of the garage without finding a good place to park. However, this proved to be a minor inconvenience and did not take away from an otherwise wonderful stay. This hotel is definitely a great value for the money and probably much better than many of the other more expensive hotels in the area. We would definitely try and stay there again on any future trip...
Read moreI arrived at the hotel at about 8:30AM on Monday, November 8 2021. I had an early flight from Cleveland because I wanted to see as much of Nashville as I could in two days. I took a taxi from the airport. I expected that I would have to leave my luggage in storage while I went out to explore that morning. The desk clerk that morning, a very nice lady, told me to have some breakfast and she would see if there were any rooms available for that early of a check in. (I frequently choose hotels that have a free breakfast because I am a breakfast person. SpringHill is such a hotel in the Marriott group.) About 45 minutes later, as I was finishing breakfast that consisted of scrambled eggs, sausage patties, English muffins and orange juice, the clerk came over to me to tell me that my room was ready.
I went up to the room, SpringHill’s King Suite with sofa bed, that had a street view. The room was very nice with a sitting area consisting of sofa, mini-fridge, microwave, and desk area. The bed area had a king size bed, with armoire closet. There was a separate water closet (toilet and sink) and shower area with sink. Very modern and clean except for some damage to one of the ceiling tiles in the shower room. There was more than enough space.
The clerk at the front desk when I checked in was very friendly and helpful. She gave me a map and told me about things to see within walking distance. She recommended a bakery a couple of blocks up the street that was just fantastic. The location was on a main street and there were restaurants within walking distance. It might be nicer to stay in downtown Nashville or The Gulch area next time but for the price, SpringHill Nashville/Vanderbilt/West End was absolutely great. I would stay there again without hesitation but I would rent a car to get...
