Let me start by saying this poor review in no way represents the food. My food was delicious as was everyone else's at the table. I had the tacos with hashbrown and ate every last bite. Everyone else fully enjoyed their food and had plenty on their plates. Most people didn't finish and had leftovers to take home. Food came out quickly and server was good about checking our coffee levels for refills.
The poor rating is due to the overall service. We were a big group (9) and all nurses who just got done with our night shift. It was a co workers last day and this was a goodbye breakfast. 2 out of the 9 showed up late. Someone, not sure if he was a waiter or manager or bus person, came over and told us if we were to come back again that the rules states we need to have our whole party arrive at one time, and they don't generally allow late guests. They did accommodate us and allowed the late comers to order. But as this person said this before the late comers ordered food, they immediately felt unwelcome. I'm not saying to not let people know the rules or how to fix behavior. I would have appreciated this comment at the end of our meal. What this person was unaware of was that the reason those two were late was because they got called into a room for a person who went into cardiac arrest and needed CPR. The patient didn't make it and our friends were left with the aftermath of a body and a grieving fsmily. So after a long day, and a terrible ending, they were seated and scolded for being late all before they even got a menu.
At the end of our meal we started to pat and the server stated how long it was going to take to pay for our food. As other customers sat down she would stop what she was doing and tell them "so sorry, ill get to you when I can, this is going to take a while" it felt passive aggressive and as though she wanted to make it known that we were an inconvenience not just to her, but to other people.
These are all my feelings and how I experienced the meal. I felt like I was a bother and wasting the restaurants time by being there. The staff may not have felt this way at all, but I felt like they did not want us there. I was very uncomfortable upon leaving.
I made sure to sincerely thank our waitress and gave her a 100% tip in hopes it would show her that we valued her time. But I won't be returning and am upset as the food was great and the service was good... right up until our 2...
Read moreI live out of town and first came here 3 times in one week during the month of March due to a family member being a patient at Vandy Hospital. The next time was 3 times in one week during april.. All 6 of these visits were amazing!!!!
Always refer clients I have that are traveling to Nashville that this is a best spot to eat at.
Then we come to today. Party of 5. Arrival was at 1249pm. The majority of the seating was empty. Including the 3 tables at the windows.
So we ordered and received our drinks. The food runner came and was either not caring or rushed. OH wait the place was no where near capacity. Not for our table however at other I saw the runner bring food in which the plate above the food was touching. Totally unsanitary.
We sat and ate and sat and sat. They sat the three table by the window. The same server we had took those table on. No issue. Not in the weeds by any means.
The server had to pass our table everytime to get to the other tables. Not even a glance towards us.
No checking on us. 1 napkin per plate. No checking on how the food was. No asking or offering drink refills ie water. No asking if we wanted something else.
No checking on us at all. When she finally came to our table after we were done. She asked if there was anything we needed. I thanked her for finally checking on us. I said we needed extra napkins. She went to grab some I stopped her and said it was too late.
She stated she was swamped. Maybe for her she was. Maybe she was new. Maybe she just ignored us. All or none of the above could be true. She didnt state she was new though.
I love to tip heavy due to the fact I and my son have been in the service industry. My son working in fine dining for years.
I didnt expect much. Definitely thought the experience would be near the same as the other visits.
My party and I were very disappointed to say the least.
I did speak to the Manager and felt a sense of indifference but maybe she was swamped. Will we need to consider a different breakfast place in the future? I dont want to but. We will see.
She could have...
Read moreI really don't know where to begin which is not typical for me whatsoever. This location is located in such a beautiful neighborhood with shops to visit within walking distance. There isn't a lot of parking right behind the restaurant for how busy it gets although there is street parking and public parking lot across the street from this lot. When you park behind Pancake Pantry, you have to purchase your ticket from the pay station and then place it in your car. Thankfully our visit didn't include a line out the door at the time that we arrived so we were sat very quickly. There were so many options to choose from including a special for Smores pancakes. The food did not take long to be served. I added the hashbrowns to my order but I could pass on those next time. They weren't seasoned, only highlighted to have been cooked in bacon fat. If they were seasoned and cooked in bacon fat they would have tasted much better but they were very bland. The Smores pancakes were delicious!! I'm so glad that I ordered them since I'm not sure how long they will be served and when I'd be able to return to Pancake Pantry. The pork chop was very, very good. Absolutely no complaints and the lemonade was absolutely delicious. It is not served from the foundation but hand squeezed which made all of the difference. Lastly, the cinnamon cream syrup! I've never had anything like it and now I'm not sure if traditional syrup will ever do it for me again. It cannot be described beyond "just delicious." I was very surprised at how great it tastes and before I knew it I was no longer interested in the maple syrup that is also brought to the table. I'd absolutely recommend Pancake Pantry if you have a chance to visit. Well worth it! Our waitress was kind and quick even though she had many tables to wait on. She did not neglect to check in with us before and after our food was served and when we requested things she didn't forget to bring them back to the table to us. Overall, it was a great experience and I am thankful that this place was...
